Asylum Blackout (The Incident)

George, Max, and Ricky are in a rock band and waiting for their big breakthrough. Between small gigs and rehearsals they work in the kitchen of a high-security asylum for good pay at minimum risk — they have no physical contact with the inmates. One night just before dinnertime, a big storm shuts down the security system, the doors open, and the lunatics break loose. Help is on its way and should soon arrive…they just have to survive until it does.

IFC Midnight Slates Prison Riot Horror The Incident For May

Formerly Incident at Sans Asylum, The Ring remake producer Roy Lee is behind Alexandre Courtes’ The Incident, a violent new thriller starring Rupert Evans, Kenny Doughty, Unax Ugalde, Dave Legeno, Anna Skellern, Richard Brake, Eric Godon, Joseph Kennedy and Marcus Garvey.

Having had its world premiere at the Midnight Madness portion of the Toronto International Film Festival (read our extremely negative review), IFC Midnight acquired the title for limited theatrical release on May 4. VOD presumably will be a month before.

[Review] TIFF ’11: ‘The Incident’ Both Unpleasant and Not Scary

Mixing rock stars and a prison riot sounded like a good idea, but unfortunately word out of the Toronto International Film Festival premiere was that French filmmaker Alexandre Courtes’s The Incident is completely lackluster. Fred Topel reviews.

What keeps the film from being any fun is the pace is so slow that a small burst of energy isn’t enough to recover. The atmosphere is just unpleasant, not scary, so the kills aren’t glorious.

One of my favorite bands, Porcupine Tree, has released the video for their second single, ‘Bonnie The Cat’, off their latest album ‘The Incident’. Unfortunately, I couldn’t embed it so you’ll have to GO HERE to check it out, which I highly recommend that you do as this video is beautifully done and has a very creepy vibe about it.
