[Blu-ray Review] ‘Halloween II’ Is A Chore To Watch

The original Halloween, released in 1978, changed the face of the horror genre. Although there had been earlier “slasher” films (notably, Black Christmas in 1973), this low-budget independent film was the first to make it big and really bring the subgenre to the mainstream. It was soon followed by Friday the 13th and other films that amped up the gore and number of teen victims. Thus, when it came time to bring Michael Myers back to the big screen, the filmmakers behind Halloween II followed suit and tried to combine the original’s suspense with the new demand for more graphic and bloody sequences. Universal Announces ‘Halloween II’ 30th Anniversary Blu-ray

Universal has just announced a 30th Anniversary Blu-ray release for Halloween II, this time with more than just the trailer and text notes/bios as special features!

The Blu-ray – dated for September 13 – will feature DTS 5.1 audio, along with an alternate ending, the awesome ‘Terror in the Aisles’ doc, an OOP compilation reel with trailers and scenes from a few beloved genre flicks. No word on whether or not the extras are in HD.
