Hi-Res Look At Haunted Dibbuk Box In ‘The Possession’

The box is real, its curse is legendary. In Lionsgate’s Possession (formerly Dibbuk Box), award-winning Ole Bornedal directs the tale of the horrific nightmare unleashed on one family who unwittingly brings a cursed box into their home. The real-life box gained notoriety in 2004 when it sold on eBay after causing inexplicable bad fortune to its owners which were attributed to a dibbuk – a malevolent spirit of Jewish folklore trapped in the haunted box.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Madison Davenport, and Natasha Calis all star in the supernatural horror opening in theaters on August 31.

We’ve now landed a hi-res look at Natasha Calis as “Em” that puts the haunted box on display.

Penned by Juliet Snowden & Stiles White, “A recently divorced father’s (Morgan) youngest daughter becomes strangely connected to an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. As his daughter’s behavior becomes more erratic, the father senses a dark presence building until he discovers that the box was built to contain a dibbuk — a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.” READ MORE

Manuel Carballo’s terrible The Possession of Emma Evans (Exorcismus) will premiere tomorrow on VOD courtesy of IFC Midnight, and inside you’ll find our previous released 6 clips, along with the official US trailer. I highly recommend avoiding it at all costs. Starring Sophie Vavasseur (Evelyn), Stephen Billington (Resident Evil), Richard Felix (Fragile), Douglas Bradley (Hellraiser) and Tommy Bastow, tired of a family that she feels is too oppressive and authoritarian, Emma Evans, a troubled and unsatisfied teen in full pursuit of her identity, decides one day to do something to end this situation. To achieve this, Emma unleashes her deepest desires, not realizing that it’s a trigger too dark and powerful forces that she is unable to control, bringing the horror and tragedy into the Evans home. Emma just wanted to be free… but there are things you should never wish for.
