Dragonforce Have Officially Gone Commercial

Well, they’re in a TV commercial, that is. Yup, UK power metal group Dragonforce is now hitting the small screen courtesy of Capitol One mobile banking in a new marketing campaign.

In the commercial, which you can watch below, guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman are engaged in a vicious guitar solo battle (which is shot almost exactly like the battle in “Through The Fire And The Flames”). While one guitarist is rocking out, the other whips out his cellphone and checks his banking through the mobile banking app. Oh, and they also happen to be standing on an asteroid as it floats through space next to a blazing star. Is it strange that my only thought was, “I highly doubt the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough for them to access their data plan.”?

Dragonforce’s latest album is The Power Within, which came out April 15th, 2012. READ MORE

The New Dragonforce Song Is Actually Pretty Damn Good

dragonforcecrythunderscreencap The New Dragonforce Song Is Actually Pretty Damn Good
The official video for the new Dragonforce single, Cry Thunder, has come out and is surprisingly pretty damn good! The song comes off their upcoming album The Power Within, which comes out April 17th. The track is a really solid, epic power metal track that goes at a very manageable speed (as opposed to the blisteringly fast Through The Fire And The Flames). Also, guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman don’t really do anything super flashy or astounding until the guitar solo, allowing new singer Marc Hudson to show his talents.
Also, how awesome is it to see a video with the ban playing on a huge stage, lights flashing everywhere but no crowd? I’m serious here! Those videos died out in the 80′s. The last one I can recall like that was Rammstein‘s Ich Tu Dir Weh.

DragonForce Announce New Album Details

 DragonForce Announce New Album Details
DragonForce have set The Power Within as the title of their upcoming fifth studio album. This album will be the first with new singer Marc Hudson and is scheduled to come out April 17th. Full tracklisting is below.
Guitarist Herman Li states, “The last two years have been the most fun we ever had making an album. Through writing, jamming and touring together, we have built this incredible energy and it has been fully captured on the new album. This time around we’ve really brought our metal side to the surface and made some of the best music of our career. From the fastest song we’ve ever recorded to the slower songs, and some things you would never expect from us, this is by far the most diverse DragonForce album yet.”
Can I just say that the album artwork (above) is seriously uninspired and looks terrible? Really, the could’ve tried to come up with something that at least didn’t have such painfully noticeable Photoshop layers. Also, these guys are still around? I honestly thought they were done when Guitar Hero called it quits.
