Job For A Cowboy Bassist To Miss Several Summer Slaughter Dates

Nick Schendzielos, bassist of Job For A Cowboy, will be forced to sit out the first few weeks of the Summer Slaughter Tour due to his girlfriend being involved in a head-on collision on her scooter. Mike “Gunface” McKenzie from The Red Chord will be taking his place during that time. All tour dates for the festival, which is headlined by Cannibal Corpse and features bands such as Periphery, Between The Buried and Me, The Faceless, and more, can be seen below.

Comments Schendzielos: “Hey friends: On June 28, immediately after landing in Boston to rehearse for Puerto Rico/Summer Slaughter, my girlfriend was in a head-on collision on her scooter. She sustained very serious head and bodily injuries. I flew right home, and we’ve been in the ICU for a week and are still in the hospital to make sure everything is okay. She needs 24/7 supervision for at least two weeks once we get out of here, so I’m very grateful to announce that Gunface from The Red Chord is going to help me out filling in on Summer Slaughter until I can meet back up with it. We love the dude very much and it’s going to be really cool for both JFAC and TRC fans to see. Enormous thanks for understanding this difficult situation and I’ll be back as soon as possible!”

Adds McKenzie: “I’m excited to be playing with JFAC on this tour. Great dudes in this band as well as in the bands on Summer Slaughter. Playing bass is a little different for me but definitely an interesting challenge. I’m definitely looking forward to getting out on the road again. Nick’s bass work is incredible and I’m working hard to get all of his parts down. Sending positive vibes out to him and his lady.”

My best wishes go out to Schendzielos’ girlfriend on a speedy recovery. READ MORE

GWAR And PETA2 Making Another Animal Rights Video

Let me get this off my chest right now: I hate PETA. Like, really hate them. They’re hypocrites and liars and I’m sick of hearing people talk about how glorious they are. That being said, I love me some GWAR and their hilarious promotional materials for just about any situation. Below is the first collaborative effort between GWAR and PETA2, entitled ‘Fight Humans, Not Dogs’. GWAR will be filming another such infomercial next month, so keep them peepers peeled!

Here’s what bassist Greg Weeks has to say about being out on the tour; “Summer Slaughter! Looking forward to old friends, new friends, borrowed and blue friends, cookouts, dance-offs, smelly people, burgers, long van rides, karate lessons, octopus balls, seedy areas, elastic waistband jeans, laughter and enjoying myself. See you there!!!”

The Red Chord Announce U.S. Tour

Forced to miss its European tour with Rotten Sound and Aborted due to the effects of the recent volcano in Iceland, The Red Chord has lined up an amazing weekend’s worth of shows for fans on the East Coast.
Saturday, April 24, The Red Chord will play the main stage at the New England Metal and Hardcore Fest in Worcester, MA, alongside Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, and Job For A Cowboy. This last-minute NEMHF appearance is a homecoming of sorts for The Red Chord who hail from nearby Boston and who have played the now-legendary fest five times, starting in 2003.
Sunday, April 25, The Red Chord heads to Brooklyn, NY, to headline a show at Public Assembly with Premonitions Of War and Tiger Flowers. This is an ultra rare opportunity for fans to witness The Red Chord at a tiny venue. The alliance between The Red Chord and Premonitions Of War dates back to 2003 when the two bands teamed up on a self-booked US tour (along with none other than Between The Buried And Me!). The Red Chord frontman Guy Kozowyk went on to release a Premonitions Of War CD, Glorified Dirt + The True Face of Panic, on his label, Black Market Activities.

Exclusive Premier of THE RED CHORD’s New Video For ‘Demoralizer’

I’m super excited to present you with an exclusive premier for the latest video from one of my favorite modern metal bands, The Red Chord. Demoralizer, off the band’s latest release Fed Through the Teeth Machine, was shot on vocalist Guy Kozowyk’s property in an abandoned ceramics factory on Halloween and showcases some pretty gruesome illustrations by artist Tim Kellen, which were animated and brought to life by director Dave Brodsky of MyGoodEye. The artist used charcoal, meat, grape jelly, and chicken-guts in his illustrations, giving the Demoralizer video a truly bizarre appearance. Read on to check it out!

The Red Chord Replace Drummer, Head Out On Burgers and Bowling Tour!

The Red Chord will be performing with original drummer, Michael Justian at all upcoming shows. Justian has not publicly performed with the group since the Maryland Deathfest of 2004, and replaces recently departed drummer, Brad Fickeisen. Justian left The Red Chord at the end of 2003, joined Unearth in 2004 and also spent time filling in for Trap Them, Earth Crisis, Shai Hulud and 108 in the interim.

Says guitarist, Mike McKenzie, “It’s great to be jamming with Mike again. His approach to drumming is truly unique and amazing. Even though it has been about 6 years since he has played this stuff, his playing is stronger than ever. We’ve rehearsed almost every day for the last month and we can’t wait to do this live again.”

The first show with the adjusted line up will be this Wednesday, February 10th at the Hideaway in Johnson City, TN before meeting up with My Children My Bride, Chelsea Grin and Those Who Lie Beneath on the Burgers and Bowling Tour. READ MORE
