BD Review: Wimpy ‘The Resident’

Now in limited release and on Directv is Hammer Films and Image Entertainment’s The Resident, which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray March 29. David Harley was NOT a fan, to say the least:

“‘The Resident,’ directed by music video virtuoso Antti Jokinen, harkens back to the string of psychological thrillers the studio released in the sixties and early seventies with moderate success, feeling like a cross between ‘Crawlspace’ and a wimpy, less aggressive ‘Fatal Attraction.’” Click the title above for the full review.

In the film, after separating from her husband beautiful young Doctor Juliet (Hilary Swank) begins a new life in Brooklyn. Her stunning, spacious loft apartment seems too good to be true and when mysterious occurrences lead her to believe she’s not alone Juliet discovers the unthinkable…her landlord (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is a stalker.

While a theatrically date was teased for spring ’11, Image Entertainment recently announced a March 29 Blu-ray/DVD date for the Antti Jokinen-directed thriller, The Resident, the latest Hammer Films production starring Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Christopher Lee, and Lee Pace. A small theatrical run and VOD launch is also planned, still. After separating from her husband beautiful young Doctor Juliet (Swank) begins a new life in Brooklyn. Her stunning, spacious loft apartment seems too good to be true and when mysterious occurrences lead her to believe she’s not alone Juliet discovers the unthinkable…her landlord is a stalker. Inside you’ll find a trio of new stills that highlight the creepy Christopher Lee. Also, we’ve re-added the trailer as it’s now officially been released.

Image Entertainment released the official poster for the Antti Jokinen-directed thriller, The Resident, the latest Hammer Films production starring Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Christopher Lee, and Lee Pace. The one sheet features Swank’s ginormous head floating over New York City with the tagline “She thought she was living alone…” I’m not quite sure this is going to grab people’s interest. After separating from her husband beautiful young Doctor Juliet (Swank) begins a new life in Brooklyn. Her stunning, spacious loft apartment seems too good to be true and when mysterious occurrences lead her to believe she’s not alone Juliet discovers the unthinkable…her landlord is a stalker.
