Sean Bridgers, Lauren Ashley Carter And Sean Young To Star In Moderncine’s ‘Jug Face’!

BridgersCarterLand12512 Sean Bridgers, Lauren Ashley Carter And Sean Young To Star In Moderncines Jug Face!

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Moderncine’s next film will be called Jug Face and will be shooting in Nashville, TN in April. As a fan of The Woman I’m pretty excited about the package they’ve put together.

Lauren Ashley Carter and Sean Bridgers (both from The Woman) will be playing the lead roles of Ada and Dawai. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Larry Fessenden (Stake Land, I Sell The Dead) and Sean Young (Blade Runner, Wall Street) playing husband and wife as Ada’s parents and Graham Patrick Martin (“Two and a Half Men”, Jack Ketchum’s The Girl Next Door) playing Ada’s brother, Jessaby.

Writer/Director Chad Crawford Kinkle will be helmer and Cinematographer Chris Heinrich will be shooting. Producers are Andrew van den Houten and Robert Tonino(Brian Keene’s Ghoul/The Woman) for MODERNCINÉ. Kinkle’s original script for the film won Slamdance’s screenplay competition last year.

‘Jug Face’ tells the story of a teen, pregnant with her brother’s child, who tries to escape from a backwoods community when she discovers she must sacrifice herself to a creature in a pit.

Thanks to John Marrone for the heads up. READ MORE

AFM ’11: Market Art for Lucky McKee’s ‘The Woman’

AFM 11: Market Art for Lucky McKees The Woman

We scored some new art for Lucky McKee’s The Woman that’s being used for international sales at this ongoing AFM in Santa Monica.

The story follows a successful country lawyer who captures and attempts to “civilize” the last remaining member of a violent clan that has roamed the Northeast in the wild for decades, thereby putting the lives of his family in extreme jeopardy.

Starring Pollyanna McIntosh, Sean Bridgers and Angela Bettis, the film prompted furious debates and walkouts during its world premiere in the Park City at Midnight program at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Reports surfaced of people becoming sick while watching the graphic scenes and one irate Sundance audience member went so far as to say THE WOMAN “ought to be confiscated, burned. There’s no value in showing this to anyone.” Whether a “wonderfully bizarre tale” or an “inhumane degradation of women,” you’ll have to decide for yourself. READ MORE

Write Your Reviews: ‘The Woman’ and ‘The Thing’!

Write Your Reviews: The Woman and The Thing!

It’s “YOU” time as a slew of new horror films have hit theaters across the country — and your opinion is expected!

Obviously, the big potato is Universal Pictures’ The Thing, their prequel to John Carpenter’s classic 1980′s remake that I personally thought was CGI heavy. Have your say by writing your own review to tell all of Bloody what YOU thought.

Also in limited theaters from Bloody Disgusting Selects (that’s us!) is May director Lucky McKee’s The Woman. Ryan Daley was a big fan out of this past January’s Sundance Film Festival where the screening sparked fan outrage. The question is: what did you guys think? Hopefully we delivered something special. As always, write your thoughts here, tell the Bloodyverse if they should go check it out. Positive or negative, we can take it: be HONEST!

By clicking the titles above you’ll find other reader reviews, the official reviews, images, posters, clips and more info.

[Review] Shannon Larkin Tackles ‘The Woman’

shannonlarkin [Review] Shannon Larkin Tackles The Woman
Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin is back with yet another awesome horror movie review! This time, he’s tackling BD Selects‘ film The Woman, which hits limited theaters today. Having met and chatted horror with Shannon, I know for a fact that this man’s goal with these reviews is to share his honest opinion, not skewing it or swaying it for anyone or anything. So, keep that in mind when checking out his review, conveniently located after the jump (how about that!).
Directed by Lucky McKee and based on a novel he co-wrote with Jack Ketchum, The Woman follows the story of a man who will stop at nothing to protect his family from a feral woman living in the nearby woods.

[Interview] Writer/Director Lucky McKee Talks About ‘The Woman’ and His Take On “White-Knight Syndrome”!

PollyLand101311 [Interview] Writer/Director Lucky McKee Talks About The Woman and His Take On White Knight Syndrome!

The controversy around Lucky McKee’s The Woman has certainly helped raise the film’s profile, but along with notoriety come misconceptions. In a way it seems as though it’s regarded as something of a tough sell, some people are afraid to see it in the same way they’re afraid to see Human Centipede 2. And that’s a shame.

The reality is, the two films couldn’t be more different. The Woman contains none of the graphic self-indulgence of this fall’s other most feared movie. Sure, there’s a few gruesome moments but The Woman is a rock solid independent movie more concerned with emotional terror, the repercussions of abuse, feminism (the accusations of misogyny are beyond myopic) and the nature of civility versus our feral instincts. It’s also an engaging story with real characters. I can’t stress enough how much this movie doesn’t even really deserve the controversy directed at it. It should instead be recognized on its merits, which are plenty.

I spoke with Lucky McKee on the phone last week to talk about the film, its soundtrack and its now legendary reaction at Sundance.
