Tomorrow sees the release of Killswitch Engage’s Disarm The Descent, the band’s first new album in four years and the first to see the return of original singer Jesse Leach. In anticipation of this release, we caught up with drummer Justin Foley a few days ago and are excited to bring you our exclusive interview with him! Head on below to see his take on the new album, who he thinks will win March Madness, some of his favorite Simpson’s “Treehouse of Horror” episodes, and more!
Times Of Grace, the band made up by Jesse Leach (former singer of Killswitch Engage) and Adam Dutkiewicz (guitarist of Killswitch Engage), have announced that Shadows Fall guitarist Matt Bachand will be hitting the road as touring bassist, replacing Daniel Struble, who is taking some time off for personal family issues.
“Losing Daniel was a blow to the Times of Grace camp, but we knew he had to do what was best for him and his family,” said Leach. “Having Matt show interest in joining the touring lineup could not have been a better fit! I have been a fan of Matt’s voice and guitar work for many years. I am honored and very stoked to have him join us on tour to play bass and sing backup vocals. Matt is a great guy, and someone Adam, Joel and I have all known for years. Personality-wise and as a musician, it clicks so well. I am certain Matt will add a great vibe and bring his own style to the live show!”
Bachand concurred, saying, “I am very excited to be a part of Times of Grace. Not only will it be great to get onstage with some old friends, but I am looking forward to something new musically as this role as bassist will be a very different experience from my role as guitarist of Shadows Fall.”
Adam D. also weighed in on Bachand, saying, “I’ll miss the crap out of Dan, but I’m so stoked to be bro-ing down with our longtime beer-swilling bassist bud Bachand. Come out to the shows and prepare to flex!”
Times Of Grace have released what is apparently the first of 13 videos (!!!) from their upcoming debut album, ‘The Hymns Of A Broken Man’. The video for ‘Where The Spirit Leads Me’ can be seen below. Times Of Grace was formed by longtime friends and band mates Adam Dutkiewicz and Jesse Leach, both of Killswitch Engage. ‘The Hymns Of A Broken Man’ is set to be released January 18th, with a special edition including all 13 videos, likely one for each track on the album.
Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam D. and ex-Killswitch Engage vocalist Jess Leach have teamed up to bring you Times Of Grace. The debut album, ‘The Hymn Of A Broken Man’, will be released in January of 2011. Meanwhile, you can get a taste of the music through two trailers that have been released. The second is after the jump along with comments from Jess.
Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and former KsE vocalist Jesse Leach are re-teaming for Times of Grace, a brand new band that finds the duo taking a creative left turn, boldly exploring new musical terrain, while fearlessly digging deep into the recesses of their musical synergy. It has yielded a provocative, heavy-yet-melodic result, one that helped each of them overcome personal struggles and emerge from the darkness, more empowered than ever.
The pair’s collaborative energy and chemistry obviously yields quality, long-lasting results, as they worked together on KsE’s benchmark album, 2002′s Alive or Just Breathing. That record has become definitive for an entire generation of American metal, with Leach’s voice and uplifting lyrics serving as one of the key elements that propelled the album to “modern classic” status. Leach, who went on to sing for the more classic-rock leaning Seemless and who currently sings for the metal band The Empire Shall Fall, was always remembered fondly by KsE fans, even though he left the band shortly after Alive or Just Breathing’s release.
While fans will no doubt be thrilled at the concept of the duo reuniting, Times of Grace, however, are not interested in fashioning Alive or Just Breathing, Part II. It’s an entirely new project and represents a different musical path for both Adam D. and Leach! It is an album of cleansing and catharsis for each of them, where internal demons were exorcised and set to music that’s as aggressive as it is melodic. The pair are currently in the studio working on their debut, The Hymn of A Broken Man, which is due out November 9 through Roadrunner Records.
