A World War II action horror film.
Tyler Mane principal of Mane Entertainment and star of Rob Zombie’s Halloween & Halloween II, will host an exclusive screening of Compound Fracture next Tuesday September 25, 2012. There’s no word on where this screennig is, but we’ll try and find out.
Also starring is the fresh face of Friday the 13th, Derek Mears, alongside Muse Watson (I Know What You Did Last Summer). After the break you’ll find a sales poster and text-based trailer for the A.J. Rickert-Epstein-directed horror flick. Todd Farmer, Susan Angelo, Renae Geerlings, Dan Roebuck and Alex Saxon also star.
In the film, “Michael Wolffsen [Mane] has just gotten custody of his only sister’s son after her husband murdered her before Michael’s very eyes. When he receives an urgent phone call, Michael takes his nephew and wife and makes the journey home to his only other living relative: his estranged, eccentric (and extremely paranoid) father [Watson] who is obsessed with building an unassailable compound. Once there, Michael hopes to repair his shattered family, but instead he finds that they are all trapped inside his father’s creation when the ghost of his vengeful brother-in-law [Mears] returns to wipe out the rest of the Wolffsen family.” READ MORE
Before Todd Farmer wrote both Drive Angry 3D and My Bloody Valentine 3D for directing partner Patrick Lussier, the bald badass froze the legendary Jason Voorhees and shipped him into deep space.
Farmer, who both penned and starred in New Line Cinema’s 2001 Jason X, will be appearing in person this coming Friday the 13th at the Cinefamily (611 N Fairfax Avenue) in Los Angeles, CA to introduce the film as part of their “Friday Night Frights” series!
To get you pumped, the theater created the above video featuring clips from Jason X set to David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”.
In the tenth Friday the 13th, directed by James Isaac, “Jason Voorhees returns with a new look, a new machete, and his same murderous attitude as he is awakened on a spaceship in the 25th century.“

Halloween 3D isn’t gonna happen this year. Aside from the fact that it’s no longer listed on Dimension’s release schedule, it’s also simple math. It’s March. For a quality film to come out by October it would at least have to start shooting around now. But not only is Halloween 3D not shooting, it’s not even in pre-production. There’s no cast. There’s no approved script. It’s still in development.
When BD’s Brian Collins sat down for a chat with Todd Farmer about the status of this project back in September, the date still looked to be October of this year, if not sooner. Farmer had worked on a draft that the studio had set aside, but his takeaway from the experience was that Dimension wanted it soon, regardless of whose take they ultimately might end up using. “Absolutely. The date has been set. October of 2012. And even that can be pushed forward if the movie’s ready, like the last couple.”
Apparently things have changed and Dimension hasn’t found a take on it that excites them. In a way, this could be perceived as good news. It’s widely known that Dimension still wants to make the project, and I take it their enthusiasm for the brand hasn;t dimmed since last year’s Farmer interview. Perhaps they’re just putting a lot of care into making sure it’s done right this time.
When the Halloween franchise returns, where would you like to see it go? A continuation of Rob Zombie’s path (not likely)? Or a whole new take? What would it look like to you? READ MORE

There are some unconfirmed reports emerging that Halloween 3D may be getting pushed back from its October 26th release date. As of right now, STYD is reporting that the film has been moved to next year. Right now their story is unconfirmed, but the film hasn’t started shooting – or even firm casting yet. So I wouldn’t necessarily expect it this year.

The date has been set. October of 2012. And even that can be pushed forward if the movie’s ready, like the last couple.” We’ll see what comes of it in the next few days. But in this town, it’s usually later rather than sooner. And the lack of momentum thus far does indicate that it might be pushed.
In other, better, Halloween news, if you liked “Crystal Lake Memories” then the writers of “Halloween: The Complete Authorized History” are looking to tickle your fancy as well.

If one were to compare Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine 3D, they’d be hard pressed to explain how the collaborative duo of writer Todd Farmer and director Patrick Lussier have grown as artists. In fact, I’m confident that I could copy and paste my review of the former and reuse it for the latter. There’s no depth or greater meaning to the Nic Cage vehicle; it’s just intended as a wild 3D ride filled with death and destruction – and Tom Atkins! What’s really incredible about it is that in a post-Grindhouse world, someone had the balls to try and make yet another modern day, big(ger)-budget love letter to exploitation films.

Now in theaters everywhere, Patrick Lussier’s Drive Angry 3D (review) is the anticipated follow-up to the director’s previous horror hit, My Bloody Valentine 3D, which grossed over $100 million worldwide back in 2009.
The difference this time around is that the film is an original creation as opposed to a remake (thank you!), featuring heavy-hitting actor Nicolas Cage in the title role of a man who escapes from Hell to avenge the murder of his daughter and kidnapping of his grandchild by a Satanic cult.
B-D reporter Chris Eggertsen recently chatted it up with Lussier, quickly picking up steam as one of the foremost faces in horror in the 21st century, to talk about working with Cage and the rest of the cast, what old films he and co-writer Todd Farmer were influenced by during the writing process, and whether he’d be open to doing a sequel.
See inside for the full interview and don’t forget it’s now time for you to write your own review to tell all of BD what YOU thought!
Hitting theaters today is Drive Angry 3D, a supernaturally tinged revenge tale that’s loaded with action and humor. The great William Fichtner shines as “The Accountant”, a profane (and hilarious) bounty hunter of sorts who is tasked with finding Milton (Nicolas Cage) and bringing him back to where he’s from (which is a surprise in the movie, though the trailer gives it away). Helping Milton is B-D fave Amber Heard, who steals the movie away from her co-stars with her crazy stunts and attitude. In short, it’s a ton of fun (did I mention Tom Atkins plays a small role as a machine-gunning sheriff?), and even though its horror elements are a bit light, it’s definitely worth checking out, and another success for Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the director/writer team behind the smash My Bloody Valentine 3D. To whet your appetite, check below for a pair of exclusive interviews with Cage, Heard, and Billy Burke, who plays the film’s main villain: Jonah King, a colorful cross between Charles Manson and Jim Morrison.

In our exclusive chat with Drive Angry 3D director Patrick Lussier about his latest film – releasing in theaters this Friday! – B-D reporter Chris Eggertsen of course had to ask him about the planned Hellraiser reboot, the script for which he and partner-in-crime Todd Farmer are currently writing. As has previously been reported, the film will not be a traditional remake following the plot of the original story but rather a “reboot” that will come at the Hellraiser universe from a new angle focusing heavily on the “world” of the Lament Configuration puzzle box.
The story centers on a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.

Motion posters are freakin’ awesome. Sure, you can’t hang ‘em on your wall, but it’s nice to get a different visual representation of the film being promoted. The original one sheet for Drive Angry 3D (read my review) is kinda boring, but mix in some fire, explosions, car crashes, and a badass William Fichtner, and you’ve got yourself pure gold.
