The new lineup, releasing this September, features “Holographic” versions of the Pressure Suit and Chair Suit Engineers. Using translucent blue plastic and hand-painted deco, these figures capture the holographic appearance of the Engineers as they are first seen by the crew – on the run from something terrible.

[Announcement] March Is ‘Evil Dead’ Month On Bloody-Disgusting!!!

We’ve been planning this for a while now and the entire Bloody-Disgusting team is incredibly excited to announce that March is EVIL DEAD MONTH here at the site! We know most of you are incredibly stoked for the upcoming remake from director Fede Alvarez (and producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell), and so are we – it looks amazing! We plan on having a review when it plays next week at SXSW a full month ahead of its April 5th release date – along with exclusive interviews with the cast and crew – in addition to all of the other insanely cool stuff we have planned.

But Evil Dead Month isn’t just just about the remake. In fact, I’d wager that most of the material you’re going to see here during the next month will focus on the original films (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness). As a team we’ll be talking about our favorite moments from them, why they work, what their key differences are and the overarching mythology of the franchise. Not only that, but you’ll be getting plenty of [Random Cool] installments featuring long forgotten artifacts from the Evil Dead era of the 80′s. Not enough for you? How about revisits to the old video games and soundtracks? Yeah, we’re doing everything.

Also, we’ll be running a “Deadite Of The Day” contest. We’ll make a more formal post in the coming weeks with all of the rules and regulations, but get your fan art, pictures of your Evil Dead trophies or even original YouTube videos ready. Whatever makes you a true deadite, really. We’ll feature a winner every weekday from March 25th – April 7th.

[Random Cool] Collect Evil Japanese Spirits In First “Shuonan” Collectibles Line!

After a frustrating bout with the press release I nearly just ignored this story, but these resin statues out of Japan are just too cool to ignore.

Skeleton Key Figures is a production house specializing in the creation of highly detailed action figures and collectable statues based in Osaka, Japan. Established in 2011, they aim to produce premium quality limited edition figures. All of their figures are resin cast and hand painted in Japan.

Shuonan is their forthcoming series of five “Yurei” or Japanese ghosts. Each of the five figures is based upon a traditional Japanese ghost story. The ghosts will only be available in a strictly limited edition of 250. All figures come in with a large detailed base and a thorough explanation of the ghost story in both English and Japanese.

Japanese ghosts, or Yurei, are the restless souls of the departed that are unable to find peace in the hereafter. They linger on in this realm, driven by powerful emotions; such as rage, sorrow, or devotion. Yurei are often malevolent spirits, seeking vengeance on those that wronged them in their mortal life. Yurei typically appear in the hot months of summer, especially around Obon; the Japanese festival of the dead. “Shuonan” refers to a sactuary for sprits where malice can be paid back to their enemies.

[Toy Fair '13] NECA Sneaks Looks At ‘Pacific Rim,’ ‘Carrie,’ ‘Aliens,’ ‘RoboCop,’ and ‘Predator’!

UPDATED WITH HI-RES IMAGES!

Even though NECA has yet to unveil all of their surprise announcements, the doors are officially open on the New York Toy Fair, and the toy company has already shared quite a few “first Looks.”

With new Prometheus figures to be unveiled in the next few days, the company has released prototypes of their new Aliens line, which includes Hudson, Hicks, and a slew of Aliens (such as the Xenomorph Warrior). There also appears to be an “Exploding Alien,” which is incredible.

They’ve also shared their Carrie figure, featuring a normal and varient version of Chloe Moretz as the title character, one of which is covered in pig’s blood. While the movie is in theaters this October, the toys will be in stores this August. A quick update also included a look at 3 Jaeger’s from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, in theaters this July.

Then there’s the reveal of a ED-209 (Enforcement Droid Series 209) from Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 RoboCop. Says wiki, the ED-209, created by Omni Consumer Products, serves as a heavily-armed obstacle and foil for the series’ titular character, as well as a source of comic relief due to its lack of intelligence and tendency towards clumsy malfunctions.

Lastly, for now, come a sneak peak at new Predator and Predators, as well as a major gift to fans collecting the toys. Says NECA, “The Predator Trophy Wall”(!) is “a reward for those who collected them all. If you got everything you have all the skulls except the BIG dino one.” The Predator line consists of two versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch, as well as an invisible Predator.

More news and hi-res imagery coming in the next few days. READ MORE

[TOYS] NECA Does Hudson, Hicks And The Xenomorph Warrior From ‘Aliens’!

When I was at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July was able to get a glimpse of Hudson from these NECA Aliens figurines but now you can catch a glimpse of a Xenomorph, Hicks and various in-process sculpts from the re-launch of their Aliens product line. Thanks to Collider for the heads up.

Per Neca, “Hicks and Hudson stand nearly 7″ tall and feature over 30 points of articulation!! The marines include signature weapons including the pulse rifle, shotgun, welder, motion tracker, and shoulder lamp. Incredibly detailed and photo realistic portrait sculpts are sure to impress. Last but not least is the all-new Aliens Warrior which stands over 9″ tall and has over 30 points of articulation including a bendable tail, hinged jaw, and sliding inner mouth. [TOYS] This NECA ‘Carrie’ Figure Has The Power To Move Bills From Your Wallet!

When I was at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July I snapped a few photos of these NECA Series 2 Prometheus and Gremlins 2 figurines, but now we have a closer look at a couple of them courtesy of Idle Hands.

The real revelation here though is the introduction of Carrie to the line, it’s not the Sissy Spacek version but the Chloë Grace Moretz incarnation from the upcoming remake directed by Kimberly Peirce. There’s a cool “before” look at her at the prom and a nice “after” once she’s covered in pig’s blood. The Carrie pieces are set to be avail in UK in Jan and in the US in February or March – right in time for the film’s opening on March 15th, 2013.
