While I already struggle with “space” for NECA’s cool figures, these are the days I pull my hair out in jealousy of those with basements.
Figures.com reports that NECA’s third assortment of Prometheus action figures had undergone a lineup change.
The new lineup, releasing this September, features “Holographic” versions of the Pressure Suit and Chair Suit Engineers. Using translucent blue plastic and hand-painted deco, these figures capture the holographic appearance of the Engineers as they are first seen by the crew – on the run from something terrible.
Each figure stands over 8″ tall and features over 20 points of articulation. Also, both Engineers include a brand new Ampule accessory which can be opened to reveal the mysterious contents inside. READ MORE
Thanks to both NECA and Figures, we now have a few new images of the San Diego Comic-Con exclusives that are sure to create line-waiting havoc.
Evan Dickson is sure to be waiting a long time for me to get his hands on the “Video Game Jason,” a glow-in-the-dark version of Friday the 13th Jason from the classic 1989 NES video game. He comes rocking an axe and a machete, and runs (only) $25.
Also, take a look at some back alley shots of the “Dead End” Albino Predator, which is released to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the breakthrough fan film “Batman: Dead End” by Sandy Collora in which the Albino Predator makes an appearance.
They will be available at NECA’s booth #3145. READ MORE

When she escapes to the hospital of a friendly doctor she doesn’t know what a nightmare is waiting there…”
I can’t necessarily make out the particulars because they’re in Japanese, but this one retails for around $161.50 and you might want to pre-order it before it becomes available in September. You can check out the page here!

We’ve been planning this for a while now and the entire Bloody-Disgusting team is incredibly excited to announce that March is EVIL DEAD MONTH here at the site! We know most of you are incredibly stoked for the upcoming remake from director Fede Alvarez (and producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell), and so are we – it looks amazing! We plan on having a review when it plays next week at SXSW a full month ahead of its April 5th release date – along with exclusive interviews with the cast and crew – in addition to all of the other insanely cool stuff we have planned.
But Evil Dead Month isn’t just just about the remake. In fact, I’d wager that most of the material you’re going to see here during the next month will focus on the original films (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness). As a team we’ll be talking about our favorite moments from them, why they work, what their key differences are and the overarching mythology of the franchise. Not only that, but you’ll be getting plenty of [Random Cool] installments featuring long forgotten artifacts from the Evil Dead era of the 80′s. Not enough for you? How about revisits to the old video games and soundtracks? Yeah, we’re doing everything.
Also, we’ll be running a “Deadite Of The Day” contest. We’ll make a more formal post in the coming weeks with all of the rules and regulations, but get your fan art, pictures of your Evil Dead trophies or even original YouTube videos ready. Whatever makes you a true deadite, really. We’ll feature a winner every weekday from March 25th – April 7th.
In the meantime, get ready for all of your Evil Dead needs to be met. The first piece drops in just a few minutes!
After a frustrating bout with the press release I nearly just ignored this story, but these resin statues out of Japan are just too cool to ignore.
Skeleton Key Figures is a production house specializing in the creation of highly detailed action figures and collectable statues based in Osaka, Japan. Established in 2011, they aim to produce premium quality limited edition figures. All of their figures are resin cast and hand painted in Japan.
Shuonan is their forthcoming series of five “Yurei” or Japanese ghosts. Each of the five figures is based upon a traditional Japanese ghost story. The ghosts will only be available in a strictly limited edition of 250. All figures come in with a large detailed base and a thorough explanation of the ghost story in both English and Japanese.
Japanese ghosts, or Yurei, are the restless souls of the departed that are unable to find peace in the hereafter. They linger on in this realm, driven by powerful emotions; such as rage, sorrow, or devotion. Yurei are often malevolent spirits, seeking vengeance on those that wronged them in their mortal life. Yurei typically appear in the hot months of summer, especially around Obon; the Japanese festival of the dead. “Shuonan” refers to a sactuary for sprits where malice can be paid back to their enemies.
Even though NECA has yet to unveil all of their surprise announcements, the doors are officially open on the New York Toy Fair, and the toy company has already shared quite a few “first Looks.”
With new Prometheus figures to be unveiled in the next few days, the company has released prototypes of their new Aliens line, which includes Hudson, Hicks, and a slew of Aliens (such as the Xenomorph Warrior). There also appears to be an “Exploding Alien,” which is incredible.
They’ve also shared their Carrie figure, featuring a normal and varient version of Chloe Moretz as the title character, one of which is covered in pig’s blood. While the movie is in theaters this October, the toys will be in stores this August. A quick update also included a look at 3 Jaeger’s from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, in theaters this July.
Then there’s the reveal of a ED-209 (Enforcement Droid Series 209) from Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 RoboCop. Says wiki, the ED-209, created by Omni Consumer Products, serves as a heavily-armed obstacle and foil for the series’ titular character, as well as a source of comic relief due to its lack of intelligence and tendency towards clumsy malfunctions.
Lastly, for now, come a sneak peak at new Predator and Predators, as well as a major gift to fans collecting the toys. Says NECA, “The Predator Trophy Wall”(!) is “a reward for those who collected them all. If you got everything you have all the skulls except the BIG dino one.” The Predator line consists of two versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch, as well as an invisible Predator.
More news and hi-res imagery coming in the next few days. READ MORE
To commemorate “Presidents’ Day” 2013 later this month, noted toy company Heroes in Action Toys will unveil some of the newest entries in its wacky “Presidential Monsters” toy line during Toy Fair 2013 at the Javitz Convention Center (Feb. 10-13) in New York City. The “Presidential Monsters” toy line pays tribute, in “monstrous parody,” to many U.S. Presidents and other popular U.S. Government notables throughout the course of American history. Heroes in Action Toys will be exhibiting at Toy Fair: BOOTH # 5032.
Among the new action figures the company will unveil will be Hillary Clinton as “Hillvira – Secretary of Stake,” a female vampire. Another new action figure will be Sarah Palin as “Van Palin”—in a spoof on monster hunter “Van Helsing.”
Unsuccessful 2012 President hopeful Mitt Romney becomes “Romney, The Robot” – a classic sci-fi robot, and George Washington is portrayed as a Ghost with his “Spirit of ‘76” action figure toy. READ MORE
The meticulous sculpted and hand-painted statue captures Michonne, the woman transformed by pain and loss, as she is thrust into the role of a badass zombie warrior and battles endless hordes of flesh-eaters in an unforgiving post-apocalyptic world.
The beautifully detailed piece shows fan-favorite Michonne doing what she does best: killing walkers with not one, but two swords! The statue stands approximately 14.5 inches high and comes with a 360-degree rotating, highly detailed gory base so you can view the gruesome action at every angle. This statue is limited to no more than 1,500 pieces, with each sequentially numbered piece being hand-signed by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman. As an added bonus, each box will include a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Todd McFarlane.

I honestly had no idea this many Jason collectibles existed. This photo essay from Idle Hands (a blog run by Dread Central contributor Paul Nomad) catalogues the many guises of Jason Voorhees that have appeared on shelves over the years. Click on the thumbnails for a better look!

When I was at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July was able to get a glimpse of Hudson from these NECA Aliens figurines but now you can catch a glimpse of a Xenomorph, Hicks and various in-process sculpts from the re-launch of their Aliens product line. Thanks to Collider for the heads up.
Per Neca, “Hicks and Hudson stand nearly 7″ tall and feature over 30 points of articulation!! The marines include signature weapons including the pulse rifle, shotgun, welder, motion tracker, and shoulder lamp. Incredibly detailed and photo realistic portrait sculpts are sure to impress. Last but not least is the all-new Aliens Warrior which stands over 9″ tall and has over 30 points of articulation including a bendable tail, hinged jaw, and sliding inner mouth. This version of the Warrior features the brown costume highlights and a glossy wet appearance.” They followed up, “there will be more than one Hicks and more than one Hudson. Different heads & different accessories. Not all released at once.”
When I was at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July I snapped a fewphotos of these NECA Series 2 Prometheus and Gremlins 2 figurines, but now we have a closer look at a couple of them courtesy of Idle Hands.
The real revelation here though is the introduction of Carrie to the line, it’s not the Sissy Spacek version but the Chloë Grace Moretz incarnation from the upcoming remake directed by Kimberly Peirce. There’s a cool “before” look at her at the prom and a nice “after” once she’s covered in pig’s blood. The Carrie pieces are set to be avail in UK in Jan and in the US in February or March – right in time for the film’s opening on March 15th, 2013.

I feel pretty safe in assuming that John Carpenter’s 1982 The Thing is somewhere in your top 10 list (if it’s not – please state your reason below.)
Which is what will likely make this video – via Badass Digest – of interest to you. I’m not a big action figure guy – not even for my favorite movies – but I like the idea of living in a world where a movie like The Thing gets a toy line. Kudos to whomever made this video.
In 1979, prototypes for 3 ¾” action figures for Ridley Scott’s Alien film were developed but never manufactured. REACTION Figures are stylized exactly as items from the “golden age” of action figures with approximately five points of articulation, accessories, and period-authentic blister card packaging.
