First TV Spot For ‘The Purge’ Reminds You That Nothing Will Be Okay Again

Writer/Director James DeMonaco’s Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes-produced The Purge (formerly Vigilandia), starring Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, Max Burkholder, Adelaide Kane, Edwin Hodge, Tony Oller and Rhys Wakefield, hits theaters on June 7th. That’s way closer than you think and the TV campaign for the film has already begun. Can’t wait to see this one!

In an America wracked by crime, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—is legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help. It is one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking.

Directed by James DeMonaco (writer of Assault on Precinct 13 and The Negotiator), The Purge is produced by Jason Blum of Blumhouse (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister), Platinum Dunes’ partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), as well as Sébastien Kurt Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13). International Spot For ‘Pacific Rim’ Regains My Excitement

…And that’s because of the Kaiju. The rush of excitement I had at the beginning of this spot, at a shot of the Kaiju that I’d already seen, reminds me that while I may not be salivating over the robot stuff in Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, I’m definitely stoked for the giant monsters.

In the film, “When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

[TV] Here’s the First Footage From “Dexter’s” Eighth Season!

While I see heavy negativity surrounding Showtime’s “Dexter,” I still have a lot of fun with the show. While it’s way past the point of quality television, there’s stil an end game at hand, and I’m curious to see how the cabler tackles the new relationship with Dexter and Debra.

With the June 30 premiere of the eighth season locked and loaded, EW scored the first TV Spot jam-packed with action shots from the series, as well as Showtime’s new drama series “Ray Donovan,” which stars Liev Schreiber as a Hollywood fixer. Says the site, there’s only a few brief nuggets, but they’re good ones — we get glimpses of how Dexter and Debra are responding to season 7′s shocking ending (when Deb pulled the trigger on Capt. María LaGüerta). As you might expect, Deb isn’t doing too well — “I shot the wrong person,” she says — while Dex is utterly remorseless.

Want A “Fun Size” Version Of The ‘World War Z’ Trailer? Try This TV Spot!

Paramount has issued a new TV spot for Marc Forster’s World War Z, their zombie movie raising the dead on June 21. It’s pretty much the same thing as the trailer but only takes 25% of the time.

Starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse, the one-sheet displays a mile-high piling of rotting, decaying zombies attacking a helicopter.

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen. READ MORE

2nd TV Spot For ‘The Call’ Condenses The Trailer Into 30 Seconds

Sony TriStar is gearing up for the impending release of their Halle Berry starring The Call (formerly The Hive), which is just over a month away. I recently spent some time on set if you want a more detailed glimpse that what the one-sheet provides, you can read that report here.

Now there’s a 2nd TV Spot, it doesn’t really add much beyond what we saw in the trailer, but it works as a quick refresher on the film’s gist I suppose.

In the film, “ When veteran 911 operator, Jordan (Halle Berry), takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.” Abigail Breslin, Justina Machado, Tara Platt, Evie Thompson, David Otunga, Michael Linstroth, Michael Eklund and Morris Chestnut also star in the flick directed by genre fav Brad Anderson (Session 9) and written by Richard D’Ovidio (Thir13en Ghosts) The Call will be released March 15th, 2013.

The Super Bowl Spot For ‘World War Z’ Basically Just A Shorter Version Of The Trailer

I didn’t hate the World War Z trailer, but I was sort of underwhelmed by it despite how huge it looks. I just don’t like the zombie hordes all that much. This Super Bowl spot doesn’t change much about that, in fact I’m not sure if I saw any new shots. Let me know if you catch any!

Directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace), the adaptation of Max Brooks’ “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War” stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse.

Another TV Spot For ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ Boasts New Footage

We now have the first TV Spot for Texas Chainsaw 3D, which continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.

It mostly does what TV spots do, which is to say it’s shorter than a trailer and only has a few new shots. Somehow though, I actually like this TV Spot more than I like the official trailer.

In theaters January 4, 2013, the slasher is being directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star. It’s been rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong, grisly violence and language throughout.
