We have a couple of new TV Spots from Season 8 of Showtime’s “Dexter” and these are actually my favorite yet. Actually the second one is more of the same, with Michael C. Hall lamenting that his mask has been slipping etc… but the first one is an interesting look at Jennifer Carpenter’s nature, Is Deb actually a killer or a victim of circumstance?
“Dexter” returns June 30 to Showtime (including Yvonne Strahovski reprising her role on the show) followed by the premiere of “Ray Donovan.”

Summit Entertainment has just released two new TV spots – entitled “So Alive” and “Irresistible” – for All the Boys Love Mandy Lane and 50/50 director Jonathan Levine’s Warm Bodies (check out Part One of my Set Visit here). Be sure to check back later this week for interviews with Jonathan Levine and the book’s author Isaac Marion.
In theaters this Friday, February 1, “Warm Bodies is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.”
Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich and Analeigh Tipton all star. Head inside for the spots. READ MORE
Man, a lot of TV Spots just hit the net. And guess what? Instead of making you click on three different articles (that is – if you’re in to all three films) we’re just depositing them here in this handy “Spot Check” edition of News Bites! First up? A brand new spot for Sinister that highlights some of the film’s best stuff. I liked the film but recommend not watching this if you’re already planning on seeing it.
Then? Two TV Spots for The American Scream, this hit documentary out of Fantastic Fest about people decorating their houses for Halloween. I’m told it’s aight.
And finally, a spot for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which a lot of you seem pretty pumped for.
Silent Hill is in theaters on October 26th. Sinister hits two weeks before on October 12th. The American Scream airs October 28th on Chiller at 8PM ET. BOOM! READ MORE
Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Apparition, the Todd Lincoln-directed haunter with an incredible trailer, now has three new TV clips for you to digest before it opens this Friday.
Update: We’ve also included two longer clips from the film itself – not spots. One of them is a nifty sheet constriction scare that pops ip in the film’s second act.
“When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural (Tom Felton), but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifying force…”
Starring Ashley Greene, Sebastian Stan, Luke Pasqualino, Julianna Guill and Tom Felton, the PG-13 supernatural horror resurrects the dead on August 24, 2012. Head inside for the spots! READ MORE
Focus Features has debuted two new TV Spots for their animated horror comedy ParaNorman, which takes place in “a small town that comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.”
The voice cast includes Academy Award nominee Casey Affleck (The Killer Inside Me ), Tempestt Bledsoe (“The Cosby Show”), Jeff Garlin (Toy Story 3), John Goodman (Red State, Matinee, Monsters, Inc.), Bernard Hill (Titanic), Academy Award nominee Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), Leslie Mann (Rio), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Fright Night 3D, How to Train Your Dragon), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In) and Tony and Emmy Award winner Elaine Stritch (“30 Rock”), Tucker Albrizzi (Good Luck Charlie), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), Jodelle Ferland (Case 39, Silent Hill, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse). Following LAIKA and Focus’ groundbreaking Academy Award-nominated animated feature Coraline, ParaNorman is only the second stop-motion animated feature to be made in 3D.
ParaNorman hits theaters on August 17th. Head inside for the clips. READ MORE
Two new TV Spots for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus have landed. At this point you really need to ask yourself if its worth watching them. I can’t wait to see the movie and nothing’s really going to change that. These spots are cool, but offer relatively little (if anything) new. I suppose it just depends on how much of a completionist you are.
“With ‘Prometheus,’ Scott creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.”
In theaters June 8, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson all star.

Hearing from various colleagues of mine that Warner Bros. Pictures and Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion most definitely dabbles in horror. Starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Josie Ho, Demetri Martin, Jennifer Ehle, Bryan Cranston and Elliott Gould, inside you’ll find the first two TV spots from the thriller infecting theaters September 9.
“The pic follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.”
