Shinji Mikami’s ‘Zwei’ Is Still Coming, According To Bethesda VP Of Marketing

It’s rarely a good thing when a game is announced only to go completely silent for a year or longer. Zwei is on the verge of becoming one of those games, as it’s been mostly quiet since its reveal last April. Since then we’ve heard very little from Mikami and his Tango Gameworks studio, leading me to question if it’s still coming. As the creator of the Resident Evil franchise, Shinji Mikami still has quite a few horror fans — myself included — who are looking forward to seeing what he does next. If a recent tweet from Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, is anything go by, the game isn’t in trouble yet.

After a fan questioned him on the game’s status, Hines replied saying [It's] Going very well. Everyone here who has seen it and played it is very excited about what Shinji and Tango are up to.” Hopefully we’ll get to see something from it soon.

Chris Brown Deletes Twitter Account After Giving People Even More Of A Reason To Hate Him

Disgusting waste of a human being Chris Brown has deleted his twitter account after a swarm of people descended upon him for more disgusting, misogynistic, abusive behavior.

Here’s the story: Brown tweeted a picture of himself along with the comment, “I look old as fuck! I’m only 23…” to which twitter comedian Jenny Johnson replied, “I know! Being a worthless piece of shit can really age a person!” This sparked off a twitter battle between the two that included Brown stating that he wanted to fart whilst engaging in sexual activities with Johnson as well as “…not shart in your mouth, wanted me to shit right on the retina, …#pinkeye”.

Well, his words got so heated and disgusting that he tried to delete his statements, not wanting his vile words accessible to the public. However, it was already too late in that many websites were reporting on this event along with photos of the exchange. So, what did Brown do next? He deleted his account.

It should be stated that deactivating your account can be undone within 30 days, so he and his 17 million followers might very well be back. But this is a bit of a victory for people who are disgusted with Brown and his complete lack of remorse, his narcissism, his disconnect with reality, and basically a ton of other reasons. So, until he pops back onto the twitterverse, good riddance. READ MORE

[Interview] Transcript From Our Twitter Interview With ‘Buried’ And ‘Red Lights’ Director Rodrigo Cortes

In theaters July 13 from Millenium Entertainment is Red Lights, the new thriller from Buried director Rodrigo Cortes. Last week we conducted a Twitter interview with him (via @rodrigocor7es and @BDisgusting) to get his take on psychics, Robert De Niro and how Red Lights compares to Buried.

Having premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, “Veteran paranormal researchers Dr. Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy) debunk fraudulent claims of ghost whispering, faith healing and other psychic phenomena by detecting what Matheson calls “red lights,” the subtle tricks behind every staged supernatural occurrence. But when the legendary blind psychic Simon Silver (Robert De Niro)comes out of retirement after 30 years, his once-fearless adversary Matheson warns Buckley to back off, fearing reprisal from the powerful Silver. Determined to discredit Silver, Buckley and his star student (Elizabeth Olsen) use every tool at their disposal to uncover the truth behind the charismatic, spoon-bending, mind reader. But Buckley is forced to reexamine his own core beliefs as his quest builds to a mind-blowing conclusion in this taut psychological thriller.

[Interview] Transcript From Our Twitter Interview With ‘Killer Joe’ And ‘The Exorcist’ Director William Friedkin

On July 27th, LD Films will release Killer Joe, which is directed by the man behind The Exorcist and To Live And Fie In LA – William Friedkin. This may not sound like a horror film to you – but it is indeed bloody and disgusting. It’s also very entertaining. I can see why some people might have issues with it – it’s an absolutely bonkers movie. But it’s intense and unsettling and bold. It weirded me out more than Human Centipede and was much more fun to watch. A pulpy ride with huge performances all around, and an interesting character study from Juno Temple.

Last week I interviewed Friedkin live on Twitter and we discussed Killer Joe in as much depth as I think you can in that format. We also talked about The Exorcist and found out that the legendary director is sort of a found footage fan – he cites Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity as his favorite recent horror movies.

When 22-year-old Chris (Emile Hirsch) finds himself in debt to a drug lord, he hires a hit man to dispatch his mother, whose $50,000 life insurance policy benefits his sister Dottie (Juno Temple). Chris finds Joe Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a creepy, crazy Dallas cop who moonlights as a contract killer. When Chris can’t pay Joe upfront, Joe sets his sight on Dottie as collateral for the job. The contract killer and his hostage develop an unusual bond. Like from a modern-day, twisted fairy tale, “Killer Joe” Cooper becomes the prince to Dottie’s Cinderella.

The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church and Gina Gershon. It’s based on the play by Pulitzer and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts. Head inside for the transcript. READ MORE

Check Out This Trailer For ‘Killer Joe’ And Watch Our Live Interview With Director William Friedkin On Friday

On July 27th, LD Films will release Killer Joe. This is remarkable for two reasons. 1. The film was directed by William Friedkin, who gave us such classics as The Exorcist and To Live And Die In LA (btw, if you haven’t seen that movie, do it. Bloody and suspenseful). 2. They’re releasing it with its original NC-17 rating, which almost never happens these days. I’m seeing the film later this week, and I hear it’s pretty hardcore. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church and Gina Gershon. It’s based on the play by Pulitzer and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts.

Also – I’ll be interviewing William Friedkin live on Twitter this coming Friday, May 11th. It will take place from 930AM-1030AM PST (1230PM – 130PM EST). You’ll need to be following both @BDisgusting and @WilliamFriedkin to tune in.

Konami Producer Teases Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Sequel

David Cox is a producer at Konami who’s been working on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. David likes tweeting about the game, posting links to interesting articles, and he also recently tweeted a link to an article on CVG about titles that will define gaming this year. It might be a bit of a leap to suggest his tweet is a tease of a sequel for one of my favorite games of last year, but because I’m enough of a fan I’m willing to throw logic out the window and go full fanboy.

sequel1 Konami Producer Teases Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Sequel

Lords of Shadow deserves a sequel and it certainly did well enough critically to warrant one. If you want to check out the tweet–maybe you think you can find something I didn’t in Cox’s three very intriguing words–you can check it out right here. Until then, let’s all just let the idea of a Lords of Shadow 2 simmer in our minds. READ MORE

‘The Lost Children’ Will Emerge Before The New Year

According to David Draiman‘s twitter, we’ll be seeing a Disturbed compilation album entitled The Lost Children before the end of the year. There haven’t been many more details apart from the title and the supposed release date, so keep your eyes locked here for more details as they emerge.

Also, if the cover of this compilation rips off The City Of Lost Children in any way, I’m going to be PISSED!

The Duke Fights Back Against Scathing Reviews

I don’t know how many of you have been keeping up with The Duke’s long awaited return, (well, long awaited for some, I would’ve been content with waiting indefinitely) but the fourteen years many fans spent waiting for the game don’t seem to have been justified. I got a fair share of hate for pointing out how repulsive the game looked to me, and based on the comments I received from many Duke fans who didn’t mind giving me a piece of their mind, I’m thinking there are a few Duke fans among Dead Pixels’ readers. And just to clear things up, I too enjoyed the Duke and his irreverent ways, but that was fourteen years ago, and I was eight.

2 The Duke Fights Back Against Scathing Reviews

But that’s not the point here. Instead we’re going to take a look at a lesson in Public Relations 101: What Not to Use Your Twitter Account for. After seeing the dreadful reviews Duke Nukem Forever has been receiving since it’s release (to give you an idea of how bad it is the game currently stands at a 49 on Metacritic, averaged from 41 reviews at the time of this writing) the game’s PR firm, The Redner Group decided to take action. Head past the break so we can have a few laughs at someone’s expense. READ MORE

Harvard Medical School Doc Writes Book On Zombie Science

We’ve seen zombie lore spun one million different ways but if looking at it from a realistic standpoint, how and why would an outbreak occur? What’s the difference between a healthy human brain and one belonging to the undead? And, more importantly, how could we fight back against a horde of zombies?

These burning questions – and a few more – are explored and theoretically answered in The Zombie Autopsies: Secret Notebooks from the Apocalypse. Written by Dr. Steven Schlozman, a child psychiatrist who holds a position at Harvard Medical School, the novel takes a look at the science behind a fictional zombie outbreak that is spread through an airborne virus that breaks down brain functions the same way Mad Cow Disease does.

Check out CNN’s interview with the zombie expert here and if you’ve read the book and/or are interested in some of the science behind it, he’ll be part of a live Twitter chat tomorrow starting 12:00 PM EST hosted by @cnnhealth.
