HIM Announce New Album ‘Tears On Tape’: Signs To Razor And Tie

Razor & Tie have announced the addition of Finnish rock band HIM to their N. American roster. The band recently finished work on their eighth studio album Tears On Tape, which is set for an Apr. 30th release date. The album was produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa and mixed by Tim Palmer (U2, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Robert Plant)

HIM lead vocalist Ville Valo comments, “We´re infernally glad to be dressed sharply enough for our dearest comrades in the U.S. (for once), R&T A-Go-Go!!!

Razor & Tie A&R Executive Mike Gitter adds, “Few artists are able to tap into rock at its most emotional and forlorn and make it sound so damn uplifting and powerful. That’s Ville Valo and HIM’s stock-in-trade. They take the rawest of emotions and channel them into unforgettable anthems- invoking the spirit of great rock n roll in the process.

The band will be announcing a US tour next week. READ MORE

[Random Cool] Can You Guess All The Guitarists?

Artist Maxim Dalton painted a poster of 35 of the greatest guitar players ever. While it doesn’t include some famous axe wielders (I don’t see Dimebag Darrell on there), it is a pretty comprehensive painting of guitarists who have shaped and influenced their genres. The painting was released as a limited edition poster but sold out long ago.

But what I want to know is can you identify them all! So head on below to test yourself on your guitar player knowledge! READ MORE

[Album Review] Morning Parade ‘Morning Parade’

Review by Chris Lockett: Starting with Coldplay in the early 2000s, the music industry has seen a huge return to prominence for European Alternative Pop-Rock bands. Tons of new bands are cashing in on this particular trend of music and making subpar records that only seem to appeal to diehard fans of the genre. However, there is a new group that’s been making waves, being given the title of “England’s hottest new band” by the Huffington Post. The band, Morning Parade, has been receiving a lot of attention overseas, as well as here in the States, for their self-titled debut. But, has all of the hype been for naught, or is this a band that’s worth its weight in publicity gold? Hit the jump to find out! READ MORE

Album Review: Limp Bizkit ‘Gold Cobra’

There are a handful of bands that incite such a violent reaction as Limp Bizkit. There’s Nickelback, Insane Clown Posse, U2 and that’s all I can really think of off the top of my head. These bands are generally reviled or mocked endlessly and, for some reason, are wildly successful. Nickelback consistently puts out platinum selling albums, ICP continues to somehow afford the ability to make movies and U2 manages to put out the same sounding album over and over again with great success. As for Limp Bizkit, people mock the ever-living hell out of them and they laugh it off all the way to the bank. So, how does the band fare on Gold Cobra, their latest endeavor? Well, check out after the jump for the answer.

Songs For Japan Album Up On iTunes

This is the first mention I’ve made in the music section about the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear situation that is going on in Japan. It’s not because I’m an insensitive prick (okay, maybe just a little), but it’s because there wasn’t really much I could relate to the situation. But if we think about it, the people in that situation are dealing with horrors far worse than we can imagine. They’ve lost their homes, their families and their livelihood. But now, we can help.

Songs For Japan Album Up On iTunes
Several music groups partnered up and have put together a 38-track iTunes exclusive album for $9.99 with songs from some of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Lennon, U2, Michael Buble, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and many more. Proceeds from each sale will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross Society. You can get your copy here.
