We’ve got a look at the full trailer for the Stephen King adaptation “Under the Dome,” and it’s not looking too shabby for a network mini-series! Per Deadline, “ the plan is to adapt the book as a TV series or mini-series, likely for cable.

[TV] New Casting Gives Me A Hankering For “Under The Dome”

CBS’ “Under the Dome” just made its best casting decision yet, adding Dean Norris (“Breaking Bad”, Starship Troopers) to its ranks. Not only is Norris a fun performer, but he’ll be bringing a lot of heat from the series finale of “Breaking Bad”, in which he plays a pivotal role.

Per TV Line, Norris will play Big Jim, the successful owner of Chester’s Mill’s used car dealership and also a town councilman, an office he takes very seriously.

Based on the book by Stephen King, the summer series follows residents in the Chester’s Mill community as they deal with the postapocalyptic conditions that ensue when a strange dome mysteriously encapsulates the town.

[News Bites] Insurge Stalks ‘Equinox’; “Under the Dome” Casting; “Dexter” Gains A Hitman; ‘Jurassic Park 3D’ Poster

It’s been another massive news day, so here’s a few evening briefs to send you off until tomorrow. It begins with THR reporting that Paramount’s low-budget genre Insurge label is going sci-fi with Equinox, which is being written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes. Project details are being kept secret but it is being described as “Dead Calm in space,” according to sources. Calm, released in 1989, was an enclosed thriller set on a boat which pitted a married couple against a murderer. Mason and Boyes are Brits who previously wrote NSFW, and collaborated on The Devil’s Chair and other random indie thrillers that Mason directed.

The site also reports that Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Cloverfield alum Mike Vogel, pictured above, has been tapped to join the cast of the network’s sci-fi drama “Under the Dome.” Based on the book by Stephen King, the summer series “Follows residents in the community of Chester’s Mill as they deal with the postapocalyptic conditions that ensue when a strange dome mysteriously encapsulates the town.” Vogel will play Barbie, an Army veteran who is in Chester’s Mill on a mysterious mission during which he might have killed a man. He’s not a bad guy but, at the same time, not someone to be messed with. He’s as baffled by the dome as everyone and befriended by an investigative journalist named Julia, though his shadowy past will complicate his relationship with the married woman. Director Niels Arden Oplev (Sweden’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) will direct the first episode.

TVLine managed to get a few details about Nick Gomez‘s (“The Walking Dead”) upcoming guest spot on “Dexter.” The site reports that Gomez will play hit man Javier Guzman on the Showtime drama. The character — who goes by the nickname El Sapo — will find himself frustrated when Debra gets in between him and his target, which probably isn’t great news for Dexter’s sis.

Lastly, Cine1 has a really crappy new poster for Jurassic Park 3D, the 3D re-release of the 1993 Steven Spielberg classic making its IMAX 3D debut on April 9th. The CG work looks better than anything in “Aliens: Colonial Marines,” at least… READ MORE

[TV] “Under the Dome” Will Hit Amazon, NOT Netflix or Hulu

CBS has announced that it has reached an exclusive licensing deal with Amazon.com to offer through online streaming the forthcoming series, “Under the Dome,” produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and based on a Stephen King novel, reports THR.

The series about a small New England town that is suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world is set to debut on CBS on June 24.

According to the companies, Amazon’s Prime members will have the ability to stream all the series’ episodes four days after their initial broadcast on CBS through compatible Amazon Instant Video devices. In addition, episodes of Under the Dome will be available for purchase and download on Amazon.

Last November, CBS ordered 13 episodes of the series under an innovative financing structure where the network would seek a subscription video-on-demand partner. The arrangement made it possible to execute a high-end scripted drama during summer months at lower license fees.
On Monday, CBS announced that Amazon — rather than Netflix or Hulu — would be its partner on this series, and company executives are saying the fit makes sense.

[TV] This “Under The Dome” Super Bowl Teaser Barely Hits The Surface

Being the network airing the Super Bowl has its perks. For instance, you can run ads for your own shows for free (I’m assuming). Even better? Since you’re not spending much money airing them you don’t really have to worry about competing with 4 million dollar commercials to get the bang for your buck. Britt Robertson, Natalie Martinez, Colin Ford, Alex Koch, Jolene Purdy and Nicholas Strong star.

They also launched their official website, which is pretty cool as you can see what your own house looks like Under The Dome. If it works for you, that is. I typed in my Mom’s address and it put a dome down around a store a few blocks away.
