Love mixes up the traditional vampire lore with Chinese monster myths as well as the Hong Kong action genre. The story centers on an ex-soldier who falls for a girl that happens to be a vampire. The only way the two can be together is if the man takes on the vampire who created her, which also means fighting an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld.
A few years ago Twitch writer Omar Hauksson embarked on his own filmmaking journey, creating the Icelandic zombie short “Undying Love”.
After hitting the festival circuit, the short is now online for your viewing pleasure!
“A young man faces his daily routines in a city where zombies dominate the streets looking for fresh meat. In constant danger he dares to go outside to look for food and other means to survive. Equipped with his baseball bat and padded clothes he carefully checks every corner before passing and life is all about survival in this city that seems to have only one pulse, his own, until he meets a stranger in trouble and he must intervene.” READ MORE

It may be an adaptation, but it’s not a remake! Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D, The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors) is tackling the vampire genre mash-up graphic novel Undying Love.
Per Deadline, “Piranha helmer Alexandre Aja is negotiating to direct Undying Love, an adaptation of the Image Comics title. The pic is being produced by Michael De Luca, Stephen L’Heureux and Benderspink. The comic was created by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman, who’ve written the script. WME-repped Aja also directed The Hills Have Eyes.”
The film, “revolves around an ex-solider who falls for a vampire, though in order to be with her, he must take on her creator, who is protected by an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld.”
Aja’s a talented guy, but I’ve never really loved anything he’s done. It’ll be interesting to see what he does with this material.
