[Interview] Gareth Evans And Timo Tjahjanto Talk About Their Insane ‘V/H/S/2′ Segment, “Safe Haven”!

V/H/S/2 just hit VOD!! You can find the iTunes and Apple TV link here. Other outlets carrying it should also include Amazon, AT&T UVerse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Google Play, Playstation 3, Sudden Link, Time Warner Cable, Verizon Fios, VUDU and Xbox Zune. Look around! There’s also a theatrical rollout set for July 12th. We’ve also got an insane look at a new poster courtesy of MTV.

In the film directed by Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Gareth Evans, Eduardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Jason Eisener and Timo Tjahjanto, “Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop endlessly with monochrome vistas of static—white noise permeating the brain and fogging concentration. But you must fight the urge to relax: this is no mere movie night. Those obsolete spools contain more than just magnetic tape. They are imprinted with the very soul of evil.

Last night I hopped on the phone with directors Gareth Evans (The Raid) and Timo Tjahjanto (Killers) to talk about their segment, “Safe Haven.” While I was at it, I got a little bit of info on The Raid 2. Check it out below and be sure to write your V/H/S/2 review here!! READ MORE

‘V/H/S/2′ NOW On VOD! Here’s An Exclusive New Look…

My mind is still spinning is disbelief that we already have V/H/S/2 for you guys. This is 2013, so Magnet Releasing decided to get you this insane sequel as quickly as inhumanly possible. While it’ll also be in theaters on July 12 (please check it out if it’s near you), the found-footage anthology is now available on various VOD platforms including iTunes (link here), Amazon, AT&T UVerse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Google Play, Playstation 3, Sudden Link, Time Warner Cable, Verizon Fios, VUDU and Xbox Zune.

We’re extremely proud of the first V/H/S, but we definitely took this in a new direction. To compare the two would be like comparing apples and oranges; the first was an experimental project, while V/H/S/2 (still S-VHS in my mind) is a something that we purposely made more humorous, with a furious pace. Again, we’re aiming to give you guys a good time and not trying to “fool” you into believing this is real. Grab some popcorn, a few friends, and enjoy the ride – and then return here to write your reviews. We want to always learn and get better because we make these for you. Thank you all for the continued support here at Bloody Disgusting. We love you.

This latest tape features the works of Gareth Evans (The Raid) & Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre), Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project, Lovely Molly) & Gregg Hale, Jason Eisener (Hobo With A Shotgun), Adam Wingard (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die) and Simon Barrett (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die), the latter of which will be making his directorial debut on the film.

Check out an exclusive new look at Gareth Evans and Timo Tjahjanto’s disturbing “Safe Haven.” I can almost guarantee you’re going to love it…

Count Down The Days To ‘V/H/S/2′ With This New Image!!

There’s only 3 Days left until V/H/S/2 hits on VOD platforms on June 6th(the theatrical rollout set for July 12th). Magnet is counting down the days with a series of clips and images, the first one of which features a creepy dirty feeling moment in Adam Wingard’s segment.

From the demented minds that brought you last year’s V/H/S comes V/H/S/2, an all-new anthology of dread, madness, and gore. This follow-up ventures even further down the demented path blazed by its predecessor, discovering new and terrifying territory in the genre. This is modern horror at its most inventive, shrewdly subverting our expectations about viral videos in ways that are just as satisfying as they are sadistic. The result is the rarest of all tapes—a second generation with no loss of quality.

Trailer For ‘V/H/S/2′ Features TONS Of Bloody Chaos!!!

We finally get a full length trailer for V/H/S/2 and it’s worth the wait! As someone who really liked most of the original film, I’ve got no problem telling you that V/H/S/2 is much, much better. It’s tighter, shorter, leaner and a rock solid viewing experience. It’s also gory, chaotic and fun as hell – which this trailer certainly represents!

Eduardo Sanchez Goes On The Record For His Bigoot Movie ‘Exists’!

Eduardo Sanchez is continuing the winning streak he started with Lovely Molly in a big way with his winning segment in V/H/S/2 and Exists, his found footage Bigfoot movie.

Now he’s spoken to The Bigfoot Report (appropriately) about the project. And, if you’ve got about 45 minutes to spare, you could do worse than listening in to their conversation.

Exists follows a group of twentysomethings who take a trip to a cabin deep in the wooded wilderness and are methodically hunted by a Bigfoot-like beast. Brian Steele, Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn and Denise Williamson star. READ MORE

[SXSW '13 Interview] Director Adam Wingard On Making ‘You’re Next’ And His Plans For ‘The Guest’ And ‘Dead Spy Running’!

Lionsgate’s You’re Next screened over the weekend to a packed crowd at this year’s SXSW Festival and, after 18 months of praise, everyone seemed to agree that the film lived up to the hype. One of the reasons behind the film’s creative success is Adam Wingard‘s incredibly assured hand as a director. I’ve always been fond of his work, but You’re Next is unlike anything else currently on his resume – a taut, crowd-pleasing horror film that has a uniquely addictive energy. I sat down with him after the screening to talk about the film’s violence and his approach towards making it feel huge.

In the film directed by Wingard and written by Simon Barrett, (A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S,V/H/S/2), “One of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, the film reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.” Sharni Vinson, Nick Tucci, Wendy Glenn, AJ Bowen, Joe Swanberg, Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz, Ti West, Calvin Reeder, Larry Fessenden, Kate Lyn Sheil, Barbara Crampton and Rob Moran all star.

You’re Next hits theaters on theaters August 23, 2013. Become a fan on Facebook and head inside for the interview! READ MORE

The Death Set Writing New Music For V/H/S/2?

Personally, I really enjoyed V/H/S. I’m not saying that as a Bloody-Disgusting writer. Rather, I’m saying that as a horror fan. And one of the things I really enjoyed was how, during the credits, the movie had an actual song (The Death Set‘s “They Come To Get Us”, which also has possibly the most incredible music video ever) rather than one of those bullshit “And they were never heard from again…” screens. The movie was loads of fun and the song fit that bill in spades.

Now, The Death Set are possibly back for V/H/S/2. On their official Twitter, the band states that they are writing two songs for the sequel. As of now, it’s not 100% confirmed that the songs will be in the movie (after all, you don’t confirm a song will be in something if it’s not even finished being recorded, right?). However, you can see the tweets, which were retweeted by the official V/H/S Twitter account below.

Adjust Your Tracking! ‘V/H/S/2′ Is Coming!!!

The Hollywood Reporter has just dropped the news that you can expect some fresh new blood (and talent) in S-VHS (formerly V/H/S/2)!!!

Gareth Evans (The Raid; pictured above), Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project, Lovely Molly) & Gregg Hale, Jason Eisener (Hobo With A Shotgun) & Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre) are among the new talent directing segments for the franchise. Adam Wingard (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die) is returning along with writer/producer Simon Barrett (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die), the latter of which will be making his directorial debut on the film.

Per THR, “Some news perfect for Halloween: Gareth Evans, who directed The Raid, and Eduardo Sanchez, the director of The Blair Witch Project and Lovely Molly, are co-writing and co-directing segments of a second installment of ‘V/H/S’, the hit horror anthology that had people fainting at the Sundance Film Festival.

The first movie followed a group of students hired to break into a desolate house to find a lost VHS tape, paving the way for the movie to go into a series of found-footage stories directed by up-and-coming genre filmmakers. The new movie follows a similar structure, with a pair of investigators discovering a tape while looking for a student.

V/H/S 2 is shooting in LA, Maryland, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Indonesia.
