Today’s winner is Laz Marquez!. He writes in with pretty great new poster for Fede Alvarez’s upcoming remake! In his words, “I wanted to capture the iconic elements of the film while focusing on the horror one would feel by being overcome by an entity outside of themselves. The image of a fearful eye, crying, with the iris/logo overtaking that was something I wanted to come through. The cabin was always secondary to me, as the design implies. It was always the violation of the deadites onto another person that intrigued me. ” You can check out more of his work here!

Today’s winners are Luke Bramley, Gigi Saul Guerrero and Raynor Shima. Since they all worked on the same project, it only counts as one entry – but it’s a cool one. It’s a retelling of the original Evil Dead (with a visual nod to the remake) in 60 seconds. Per Bramley, “‘d like to submit our recreation of the original Evil Dead done in 60 seconds for the Deadite of the Day contest. Created by myself (Luke Bramley), Gigi Saul Guerrero, and Raynor Shima (with the help of our fantastic cast and crew), we submitted this to the Virgin Radio Fake Film Festival, and although we didn’t win 1st place, we came in the top 5 and received a lot of positive feedback from Evil Dead fans everywhere.

I figured I’d start this off with a bang and announce a winner with one of the most extensive collections of anything I’ve ever seen! His name is Sean Gooding (@GonzoSean on Twitter) and he also runs the site Deadites Online. In his own words, “Up until a few years ago I owned a very large Evil Dead Collection, these pictures were from the height of my collecting days, I still own the full Scale replica of Ash’s chainsaw from Evil Dead 2 and some boxed figures and Blu Rays.” He also included a sketch of Ash that he did that’s pretty badass too.

Sadly, Sean hails from the UK. So if he wants to be eligible for the signed poster he needs to have someone in the US it can be mailed to. Hopefully he does! Though – again – we still have 9 more winners to announce who are also eligible. Head inside to check out his awesome former collection of stuff! It’s f*cking AMAZING!!! For the first time in 35 years, Daniel Lutz recounts his version of the infamous Amityville haunting that terrified his family in 1975. George and Kathy Lutz’s story went on to inspire a best-selling novel and the subsequent films have continued to fascinate audiences today. This documentary reveals the horror behind growing up as part of a world famous haunting and while Daniel’s facts may be other’s fiction, the psychological scars he carries are indisputable.

TV: [Next On] The Year’s Second To Last Episode Of “True Blood”…”Sunset”

After airing “Gone, Gone, Gone” (episode #58 of “True Blood”‘s fifth season) tonight, HBO looks forward to the final two episodes of the season, the first of which airs next week. Episode #59 airs on August 19th and is called “Sunset” and, being the penultimate episode of the season, looks to be fairly action packed. I don’t regret ceasing my viewership of the show, but I can see why some of you guys dig it.

Slipping further into religious fervor, Bill (Stephen Moyer) gives Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) an order she’s loath to carry out. Armed with a damning video of Russell (Denis O’Hare) and Steve (Michael McMillian), the military delivers an ultimatum to the Authority. Claude (Giles Matthey) and Maurella (Kristina Anapau) take Sookie (Anna Paquin) to meet the faerie elder, who may know something about an ancient family secret. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) reconnects with his father; Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar) hitch a rideinto the Authority.

TV: [Next On] Three Clips, Including A “Bloody Romance”, Tease This Week’s Episode Of “True Blood”

Starting this Sunday, HBO looks ahead to the final three episodes of “True Blood”‘s fifth season with episode #58 “Gone, Gone, Gone.” They’ve just released a clip, and given that I haven’t seen the show since this season’s fourth episode, it seems that things have gotten even freakier with this blood smeared slow dance. There’s also a slightly less interesting clip,“We Meet Again”, but it includes my fave Jessica so I’m tossing it in anyway. Oh whoops – as I’m typing this another one just popped up! It’s called “Unexpected Guest”. Let me know what happens!

With vampire-on-human attacks increasing, the Authority attempts to woo public favor. Meanwhile, Nora (Lucy Griffiths) tries to convert Eric to Lilith’s gospel. Jason finds a mysterious scroll; Elijah (Keram Malicki-Sanchez), the new vampire sheriff of Area 5, pushes Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Tara (Rutina Wesley) to obey a new mandate; Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar) search for Emma (Chloe Noelle); Russell (Denis O’Hare) seeks a higher calling.Written by Alexander Woo; directed by Scott Winant.

[News Bites] Nightwish, Orphaned Land, White Willow, New Medicine
Nightwish have announced January 10th, 2012 as the release date for their upcoming album Imaginaerum. It’s their first new release since 2007′s Dark Passion Play, their first album with new singer Anette Olzon. This new album is going to also be the soundtrack to a feature film with the same name.
Keyboardist/songwriter Tuomas Holopainen states, “It was important from the very beginning that the album would work as its own individual piece of art, as well. It is a thematic album about life itself, about imagination, love, goodness and beauty, with a touch of darkness and melancholy, which are strongly included in all of those things mentioned.”

Sinking their teeth into an R-rating, Dreamworks is pushing out Fright Night 3D in theaters this coming Friday. A remake of Tom Holland’s 1985 classic, the modern retelling follows Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) as a high school senior who’s on top of the world–that is until Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door and Charlie discovers that he is a vampire preying on the neighborhood.

Bloody Disgusting’s Chris Eggertsen sat down with the cast for a series of exclusive video interviews that begin with the following full chat with Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who plays the new “Evil” Ed Thompson, along with Anton Yelchin and his love interest Imogen Poots.

Charlie Doesn’t Understand Women in Latest ‘Fright Night 3D’ Clips, See Chris Sarandon’s Cameo!

Update #1: We’ve added three more clips. The first has Jerry asking to be let in because Charlie is “harassing” him. Charlie begs his mom to ignore him. The second you’ll see Charlie asking Peter Vincent (David Tenant) to join his “Scooby” gang, while the last has Vincent declaring, “let’s go kill something.

Update #2: Below you’ll find a hi-res look at Chris Sarandon – who starred as the vampire Jerry in the 1985 original – in his cameo role. He plays another driver on the road during the chase sequence you can see in the trailer. Spoiler warning: He hits their car, gets out and asks why they were stopped — then he sees Jerry. “It’s stupid,” says BC, who saw the movie the other night.

In theaters this Friday we’ve posted yet another clip from Craig Gillespie’s Fright Night 3D featuring Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) having a conversation with his mother (Toni Collette) about their new neighbor, Jerry (Colin Farrell). Charlie warns his mom NOT to acknowledge or let Jerry in the house, as it may be dangerous. Little does Charlie know, this bit of information got his mom excited. I can picture her internal conversation now… “Jerry’s a bad boy? Does he ride a motorcycle too? He DOES?! Come right in, up the stairs, to my room…I need a second to freshen up.

Third ‘Fright Night’ Trailer Pushes Dark Angle

Dreamworks continues an onslaught of press for Fright Night 3D with a third trailer that once again pushes the darker side of the vampire lore. Directed by Craig Gillespie for release on August 19, the remake to Tom Holland’s classic embraces its R-rating, and has been hoping to gain the attention of Twilight haters.

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right–but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

‘Fright Night’ Vampire “The Shark From ‘Jaws’ “

In the following new clip from Dreamworks’ Fright Night 3D Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) scoffs at best friend ‘Evil’ Ed Thompson’s (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) suggestion that his neighbor is “like the shark from Jaws.” It takes a jab at Twilight, which I guess is their way of proclaiming they’re an R-rated horror film.

In theaters August 19, “Senior Charlie Brewster (Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school.
