The sequel takes place after the events of Death Race 2. The new film will fix on off-road racing in the Mexican desert. Danny Trejo and Tanit Phoenix reprise their roles for the new film.

Only one victory away from winning freedom for himself and his pit crew, Lucas is plunged into an all-new competition more vicious than anything he has experienced before. Pitted against his most ruthless adversaries ever, Lucas fights to keep himself and his team alive in a race in South Africa ‘s infernal Kalahari Desert. After the terror unleashed on Lake Victoria, the pre-historic school of blood thirsty piranhas are back. This time, no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of summer’s best attraction, The Big Wet Water Park. Christopher Lloyd reprises his role as the eccentric piranha expert with survivor Paul Scheer and a partially devoured Ving Rhames back for more fish frenzy. David Hasselhoff trades in the sandy beaches of “Baywatch” to be a celebrity lifeguard at the racy water park. Prepare for double the terror, double the action and double the Ds.
The John Gulager-directed sequel Piranha 3DD arrives on VOD and in limited theaters June 1 from Dimension Films. And now the clips are starting to hint at the mayhem that goes down in the waterpark during the film’s finale. In this scene, returning hero Ving Rhames has come to the park to make peace with his fear of the water and ends up having to whip out some of his artillery.
“There’s something in the water… again. And this time no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of the best summer attraction, The Big Wet Water Park.” It promises twice the terror and double the D’s.
Reteaming Gulager with Feast writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the bloody sequel is jam-packed with stars including Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer and even David Hasselhoff.

So, have you ever read a story or seen a movie that is set way back in the day and the author has tried to change the dialogue to reflect this, but it’s just so badly executed that it’s painful? Seven Below delivers on this almost immediately with meager acting where children are calling their moms ‘mother’ in every sentence as they converse. Maybe people do this even now, but here it’s excruciating to decipher what makes it just so cringe worthy – the acting or the writing. Or both. And with this scene from 1910, the film begins its crawl.
Seven Below is promoted as being a ‘supernatural thriller in the vein of The Ring and The Grudge with explosive terror and spine-chilling suspense and action’ – all of which it is, umm, not. Not even close. READ MORE

*Just kidding. I’m not sure there was ever any doubt what Dimension Films’ Piranha 3DD would be rated. I suppose there was slight a chance there’d be an ‘unrated’ version, but I just imagined that was what the eventual DVD/Blu cut would be. Dimension, like any other distributor, needs to get paid. And the only way to do that is with an “R” (a “PG13″ would be the antithesis of this franchise).
Piranha 3DD has been rated R for “Sequences of strong bloody horror violence and gore, graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.”
The John Gulagar-directed sequel was penned by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer and David Hasselhoff all star.

‘Nothing333′ just tipped us off to the red band NSFW trailer for Dimension Films’ Piranha 3DD, the John Gulagar-directed sequel swimming into theaters and VOD June 1. The footage is similar to the leaked international trailer, but there’s a bit more nudity, and a great one-liner from the Hoff!
The sequel, penned by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, continues down the path of “ridiculous” as the piranha this time make their way into swimming pools, pipes, plumping and such at a newly opened waterpark named “Wilderness Waters”! The race is on to save the town from these flesh-eating creatures that are leaving a bloodbath in their wake.

We’ve just now landed the full official trailer for Dimension Films’ Piranha 3DD that I personally think is better than Alex Aja’s 2010 remake. The footage is over-the-top insane, and gives multiple homage to some of our favorite horror classics (including the infamous bathtub scene in A Nightmare On Elm Street). It looks absolutely amazing. Thanks to BD reader ‘DJblack1313′ for tipping us off.

The best part about films casting a bunch of oddball ex-stars is that they’ll talk to any press about their roles without conscious. Meaning, they’ll reveal everything if you ask nicely. Such the case with Gary Busey, who stars in Dimension Films’ Piranha 3DD. Re-teaming Feast director John Gulager with writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, we were expecting awesomeness on this level:
“I play a farmer,” Busey tells Empire Magazine. “A cow explodes because of its farting ability and out of it come hundreds of piranha, raining down on me. You’ll see how I treat one of them.”
If that’s just a tease of how weird things get in Piranha 3DD it makes me think they took the sequel in the correct direction. Piranha 3D took itself way too serious. Point: David Hasselhoff stars in this one…. READ MORE
