Fans and audiophiles of legendary UK electronic band Depeche Mode can rejoice as the band’s catalog (minus last year’s Delta Machine) is being reissued on 180 gram vinyl beginning today! News coming from Music On Vinyl show that four of the band’s albums, Black Celebration, Music For The Masses, Some Great Reward, and Songs Of Faith And Devotion, are available at local and online retailers (such as Amazon). There will be another burst of four reissues on March 24th and a final burst on May 28th. Each album will come in glossy gatefold sleeves, be pressed on 180 gram black vinyl, and all will contain inserts and liner notes.
I personally cannot wait to pick up Playing The Angel on May 28th. That is one of my all-time favorite albums and it’s SUPER rare on vinyl, often going for well over $100 if not higher (Discogs has one that is almost $300). I’m so excited for this! READ MORE
UK electronic band Depeche Mode have announced that they will be releasing a new album in March 2013 via Columbia Records. As-of-yet-untitled, this will be the first release through Columbia for the band. The band released a video showing them recording the album set to new music, which you can watch below.
“I am very happy with how the album turned out,” comments Martin Gore. “The music has a similar vibe to Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion and I think the songs on the album are among some of the very best we’ve done.”
Singer Dave Gahan comments, “The album has a very organic and direct feel to it. It’s not a blues record, but it definitely has a soulful vibe. During the recording process we really tried to get the elements of performing and the live show into the album more.”
Playing The Angel is one of my favorite albums of all time, so I’ll DEFINITELY be checking this album out the day it’s released! READ MORE
