For those of you who have been itching for some new Volbeat or some dulcet tones of the metal master himself, King Diamond, your prayers have been answered. Volbeat have made “Room 24″, which features Diamond available for free download. The track comes from the band’s upcoming album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, which comes out tomorrow.
Volbeat guitarist/vocalist Michael Poulsen states, “I’m a huge fan of Mercyful Fate and King Diamond. Having King on the record is a huge privilege. Normally, it’s not something he does. He wrote his own lines, and it is half my lyrics and half his. It’s a weird, scary story, and he’s the perfect person for it.”
You can listen to the song and find the download link below. READ MORE
Danish rockers Volbeat have released a music video for “The Cape Of Our Hero”, which comes off their upcoming album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies (out April 9th via Vertigo/Republic Records/Universal Music). The video, directed by Jakob Printzlau, shows a young boy missing his father, who goes off to war. It’s a rather touching and poignant video but the song leaves a bit to be desired, at least in my opinion. You can watch it/give it a listen below. READ MORE

Danish metal band Volbeat has announced that ex-Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano has officially signed on as second guitarist. Caggiano produced the band’s upcoming album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, which will be coming out April 8th.
Singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen shared, “The band is very proud and happy to announce that he will also be the new guitar player in Volbeat. The collaboration with Rob in the studio was so inspiring and in good spirit that we the decided to keep him. Basically we went into the studio as a three piece and came out as a whole band!”
Discussing the album, Poulsen states, “Half of the album tracks will take you into the world of outlaw gunslinger stories sometime in the 1800s. Some of the characters are true legends, while others are fiction. The listener will hear inspiration from old classic spaghetti western movies which gives you a clue to the album title and cover artwork.”

Swedish hard rock/metal band Amaranthe are gearing up to release their sophomore album The Nexus, which was produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Dreamshade & Ginger Wildheart). The album will be released Mar. 26th in the States via Spinefarm Records.
Guitarist Olof Morck states, “The moment has come to let loose The Nexus on an unsuspecting world! This time we went all the way with our futuristic dream-nightmare – a no-compromise vision steeped in deep contrast between the mechanically ultra-heavy and shimmering serene melody. The Nexus is everything we dreamed about doing with our debut album; we laboured to make this offering as diverse as it is direct and catchy… and remember, no-one can be told what The Nexus is – you have to hear it for yourself!”
You can watch a video for their title track, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir), below. READ MORE

Danish rockers Volbeat have announced that they will be releasing their new studio album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies this Spring. The band recorded the album with producer Rob Caggiano (Anthrax) and Jacob Hansen, who produced and mixed the previous four Volbeat releases.
Front man Michael Poulsen reveals; “We’re back in the studio, this time breaking some of our old habits and this sometimes means leaving our comfort zone. We are recording in a new environment, producing with a new set up breaking new sonic ground and it’s exciting! Together with our long time collaborator Jacob Hansen we also have the honor of having producer Rob Caggiano on board in the producer’s seat. Expect lots of surprises and some of our most rocking heavy songs to date. We feel more than ever that we are taking the Volbeat sound to another level without changing what we’re all about. This is just too good of a story to not be shared. Apparently, a 28-year old woman attended the Chicago Gigantour show, which featured Megadeth, Motorhead, Lacuna Coil, and Volbeat. During the show, she encountered a strapping young lad and the two proceeded to engage in…shall we say illicit behavior in one of the bathroom stalls. Fast forward and she finds out she is pregnant and is trying to reach the father through the majestical land of Craigslist. I’m not joking. Read on for the full posting. READ MORE
Back in 2005, I was lucky enough to go and check out the first ever Gigantour, the here-and-there summer festival started by Megadeth. Needless to say, for the ticket price (I think it was something like $25), I definitely got my money’s worth. Now, Megadeth has announced that they are resurrecting the tour. However, some things have changed: First of all, it’s not going to be in the summer. Rather, the tour will start towards the end of January and run through early March. Second, there apparently won’t be a full day of music. Instead, only three other bands will be joining Megadeth on stage: Motorhead, Volbeat, and Lacuna Coil. Tour dates have yet to be announced, so keep an eye on Megadeth.com.
I’m still very interested in checking out the show but it seems like this could’ve been called something else. Imagine if Ozzfest was Ozzy headlining with Black Label Society and Fear Factory attached on the tour and that was it. Nope, not the same. Not the same at all.
Clutch have announced that during their upcoming European tour supporting Volbeat they will be doing some headlining shows. The band will be doing a one off headline show on Nov. 11th but will then do 10 headlining dates starting Nov. 18th. You can check out the full list of dates after the jump.
Danish metal band Volbeat have released ‘Beyond Hell/Above Heaven’ digitally today and plan for a physical release on Dec. 14th. Most of you probably heard of Volbeat during their tour with Metallica and Lamb of God late last year. I didn’t get to see them because I got to see Machine Head as the opening act. For those of you who saw them, how was the show?
