Fox’s ‘Hitchcock’ Dated For Home Video

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that it is planning to release a combo pack edition of director Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock, starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Scarlett Johansson. The preliminary release date set by the studio is March 12th, says Blu-ray.com

Technical specs and supplemental features to be included with this upcoming release are yet to be revealed.

Hitchcock is a love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock, and his wife and partner Alma Reville. The film takes place during the making of Hitchcock’s seminal movie Psycho.

At the center of the script by John McLaughlin and Rebello is the relationship between Hitchcock (Hopkins) and his wife (Mirren). READ MORE

While I’m personally stoked to see this, the buzz behind Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock isn’t knocking any doors down. Still, the following clip is an online treat! I’m crazy excited for the November 23 release of Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock, a love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock and his wife and partner Alma Reville. Fox Searchlight obviously believed this to be an Oscar contender, not to mention it pretty much has to be better than HBO and BBC’s “The Girl,” which aired two weekends ago. The official Facebook page for Self Storage has been updated with a few behind-the-scenes pics and the news that Eliza Robert will now star alongside Eric Roberts, Michael Berryman, Jonathan Silverman and Tommy DeNucci in the Tom DeNucci-directed horror pic. “‘Self Storage’ tells the story of Jake, the night watchman working at a highly-secured self-storage facility. His pals are home from college and looking to party. Jake decides to invite them to his work and throw a fiesta of his own. Innocent mischief turns a naughty night of sex, drugs and rock & roll into an evening of pure terror. Barbed wire fences are meant to keep people out, but these fences keep people in.”

While it’s unfortunately not in English, and horribly pixelated, you can get a first look at Lasse Hallstrom’s The Hypnotist in the following international trailer. “In the novel, Detective Linna investigates a grisly triple homicide where the only survivor, a young boy, is too traumatized to testify. Linna convinces a famous psychologist, against his better judgment, to hypnotize the boy, setting off a terrifying chain of events.” Mikael Persbrandt, Lena Olin and Tobias Zilliacus all star. Watch for distro news as it comes in.

Wallace40912 Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho Adds A Crime Scene Investigator

Fox Searchlight’s Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho just added another key member to its already impressive cast. Wallace Langham (“CSI”, Jurassic Park) will be joining the prestige pic.

Per Variety, “CSI” star Wallace Langham is in talks to play Saul Bass in Sacha Gervasi’s Fox Searchlight pic. Bass designed the main titles and handled the storyboards for “Psycho” and many of Hitchcock’s other films despite famously clashing with the headstrong helmer.”

He joins Jessica Biel (The Tall Man, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003)Toni Collette (Fright Night 2011),Danny Huston (30 Days Of Night), Michael Stuhlbarg (Lincoln) and Michael Wincott in the film. Wincott will be playing Ed Gein and Biel will be playing Vera Miles.

As previously reported, Anthony Hopkins will play the iconic director, while Helen Mirren will play his wife, Alma. Scarlett Johansson and James D’Arcy are to play Psycho stars Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins. Gervasi’s pic follows Hitchcock and his struggles during the filmmaking of the horror classic. John McLaughlin penned the script. Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck and Tom Pollack will produce through their Montecito Picture Company along with Tom Thayer.
