Philip Anselmo Announces Details For Upcoming Solo Album

Details have emerged regarding Walk Through Exits Only, the upcoming solo album of ex-Pantera singer Philip Anselmo (Down, Superjoint Ritual). The album will be released digitally, on CD, and on vinyl on July 16th via Anselmo’s own Housecore Records and will feature eight tracks. The album cover has also been unveiled and can be seen below.

Anselmo explains, “It wasn’t about doing a paint-by-numbers thrash or heavy metal record. It’s an angry album that only I could do. I don’t see anybody else out there screaming about the same shit I’m screaming about. On this album, there isn’t any wordplay, there isn’t any hidden message, it’s all right there in front of you.

The first sampling of tracks from Philip Anselmo and The Illegals was heard with the Philip Anselmo/Warbeast split War Of The Gargantuas (review). You can hear the track “Conflict” below. READ MORE

Warbeast Are Prepared To ‘Destroy’ Everything This April

Thrash metal band Warbeast are set to release their upcoming full length album Destroy on Apr. 2nd. The album was produced by Philip Anselmo (Pantera, Superjoint Ritual, Down) and will be released via his Housecore Records. The band will host a CD release show on Apr. 6th at The Rail Club in Forth Worth, TX.

Vocalist Bruce Corbitt issued a statement regarding the departure of bassist Dre’ Karst, saying, “Warbeast Bassist Dre’ Karst will be leaving the band because he is unable to keep up with our busy touring schedule due to his work occupation. We are saddened that Dre’ has to leave the band. But we will be the first to acknowledge that Dre’ did an amazing job while he was in Warbeast. He only had two weeks to prepare to record our upcoming full-length album Destroy. He also kicked ass at all of the shows and on the three tours with Down. So please everyone… join us in giving Dre’ his props for what he accomplished in his time in Warbeast. THANKS SO MUCH DRE’!!! We will miss ya bro… thanks for being part of our family.

Corbitt continues, “So obviously that means that Warbeast is now on the hunt for our next bass player. Please only serious musicians contact us about this. Obviously we need someone that can tour constantly and that has a schedule that will work with Warbeast. So for those interested please send an email to [email protected]READ MORE

[Album Review] Philip Anselmo/Warbeast ‘War Of The Gargantuas’ EP

The Japanese film War Of The Gargantuas is about the battle between two gigantic hairy men and…well, that’s kinda the plot in a nutshell. It’s one of those cheesy, giant rubber suited monster movies that are hilarious and loads of fun to watch. And sometimes, you want music to be like that. Y’know, those heavy and crushing albums that you pop on that you’re just gonna have a good time listening to.

So what does that have to do with the Philip Anselmo And Warbeast EP of the same name? Head on below for our album review and find out! READ MORE

Philip Anselmo And Warbeast Confirm ‘War Of The Gargantuas’ Split Album

Ex-Pantera singer and current Down vocalist Philip H. Anselmo is teaming up with Warbeast to release War Of The Gargantuas, a split album that will feature two new songs from each artist. This will mark the first solo work Anselmo will have officially released. The two tracks will feature ex-Warbeast bassist Alan Bovee before his amicable split from the band. The split will be released Jan. 8th, 2013.

Anselmo says, “This split is a glimpse into the future of both my solo project and ultimate thrash metallers WARBEAST. The title of the split is War of The Gargantuas and it is fitting on many levels because of our combined love for the 60′s Japanese film of the same name, the power of our combined musical output(s) and our humorous affection that plays out within each of our “Gargantuan” personalities. Both WARBEAST and myself have full length LP’s that will be released shortly after this is released, but this split is unique musically. It is a time capsule; a loud pause ‘til we both release our full length products. Enjoy the destruction of music!”

Warbeast guitarist Scott Shelby adds, “These two songs we have on War of the Gargantuas were the next level after Krush The Enemy. They’ve been a staple in our set list for the last two years. These songs are a pure demonstration of our unique Texas thrash metal style.”

Warbeast will be releasing a full length album entitled Destroy in early 2013. READ MORE

GWAR Announce ‘Return Of The World Maggot’ Tour

Without fail, GWAR put on what is possibly the most fun concert I’ve ever been to. I came in wearing a white shirt and left red, blue and purple. I was covered in blood and god knows what other fluids they decided to spray on the crowd. Plus, Devildriver had just opened up, so the crowd was already having a total blast.

Fast forward to today and GWAR has announced a fall tour entitled Return Of The World Maggot, which will feature openers Every Time I Die, Warbeast, and Ghoul. I won’t be able to make the Detroit show because I’m already seeing Opeth that night, but you should definitely go if you’re in the area! Check out the tour dates after the jump!
