A new single entitled “We Are” has come from charity group Revolution Harmony, which works to restore the “…harmony between people, animals and the environment.” The charity group is run by Ray Holroyd, a British/African music lecturer and journalist. The single features Serj Tankian (System Of A Down) and Ihsahn (Empreror) on vocals with Devin Townsend (The Devin Townsend Project, Strapping Young Lad) providing guitar solos. The song will be available for purchase on July 18th and all proceeds from this single will go to Buskaid, a charity program that gives impoverished children in S. Africa music lessons.

Australian progressive rockers Karnivool have announced the release of their third full length studio album Asymmetry will be on July 19th via Cymatic Records/Sony. Pre-orders are now open for various formats (excluding North America) and can be found here. An iTunes pre-order will go live later today and will include an immediate download of their new single, “We Are”. The band has also announced two tours, one in Australia and one in the UK.
Vocalist Ian Kenny states, “I think each time Karnivool walk into another record we all want to explore new ground. We want to open the door to our musical basement, switch the light off and tumble down the stairs into god knows what. Each time we switch the light on again we are a different band.”
Guitarist Drew Goddard adds, “We wanted this record to be a natural evolution from Sound Awake. It needed to be more honest and raw, sound wise and song wise, exploring unchartered territory for the band while holding true to the things that make Karnivool… Karnivool.”
In regards to the title, Goddard adds, “As a theme or title, it’s very much a broad brushstroke. It’s one that we feel encompasses where we are at in a musical sense at this point in time. We are very much into big ideas that are open to interpretation, ideas that can mean different things to different members of the band as well as the listener.”
