Every so often you get the distinct privilege of interviewing someone that is just genuinely nice, down to Earth, and (for lack of a better term) knows their crap. Seldom does lightning ever strike in the same place twice, much less in the same interview, but then again seldom do you find a pair of siblings as talented as Brea and Zane Grant (“WE WILL BURY YOU”). The brother/sister combination combined to deliver one of the absolute best mini-series efforts of the year with ‘WE WILL BURY YOU’. The title was a more than successful blend of societal undertones, sexual rebellion, political unrest, and the zombie apocalypse that came out of nowhere to solidify the names of the siblings in the minds of comic book fans worldwide. It doesn’t hurt that the two are extremely friendly with a knowledge of history and literature to match. I was extremely fortunate to speak to the two this past week, and beyond the break you can read the entire interview with the duo as we talk “WE WILL BURY YOU”, ComiCon San Diego, politics, and future collaborations. There might not be any title out there right now that I look forward to more every month than Brea and Zane Grant’s fantastic ‘WE WILL BURY YOU’ from publisher IDW. The story is consistently one of the most entertaining thrill rides in the genre each month, and it will definitely be a major player at thew end of the year when we compile our Top 10 for the year. I’m going to go out on a very short limb here and say that, with much certainty, that “WE WILL BURY YOU” will end up in my top 10 stories of 2010 at the end of the year. Brea and Zane Grant have put together what is quite possibly the most FUN (and interesting) zombie adventure I have read in years, and with the genre in the way that it is now, that’s saying something. Last month IDW Publishing released the first issue in the hotly anticipated comic book debut of “HEROES” and “H2″ starlet Brea Grant and her brother Zane titled, “WE WILL BURY YOU”. In our official review we awarded the book 4 Out Of 5 Skulls and it is quite possibly the best new undead series going right now. REVIEW: ‘We Will Bury You’ Issue #1

When I first caught wind of Brea and Zane Grant’s new mini from IDW Publishing titled “WE WILL BURY YOU” my interest was not piqued from the fact that it was being co-written by the former ‘HEROES’ starlet, but the premise of the story itself. To hear the siblings talk about the series is akin to hearing a college professor lecturing on the not-so-roaring 20s to his class full of wide-eyed students. Brea, who sports a masters degree in American Studies from the University of Texas, shows off a knowledge and learnedness of the era she is writing through that is as refreshing as the premise she and her brother have chosen. “WE WILL BURY YOU” is a social commentary as opposed to a satire, and the fact that it uses zombies to compliment the fact is, well, an added bonus. Last week we previewed some art from Brea Grant (“HEROES”, “MIDNIGHT MOVIE”) and brother Zane’s upcoming zombie mini titled “WE WILL BURY YOU” coming from IDW Publishing. It looks like the first issue of the book was moved to a February 24th release date as opposed to it’s previously reported February 17th date. Good news is you don’t have long to wait as the book will be hitting news stands tomorrow, and inside you will find our 5 page preview of the epic that is this weeks (and coincidentally the first) “Bloody-Disgusting Pick Of The Week”.

I’m going to out myself here and say that I do not like NBC’s X-Men-esque melodrama “HEROES”. I will further out myself in saying that I used to be a fan of the show, and in fact own the first 2 seasons. But then they killed Elle and that kinda thing don’t fly with me. However, one of the bright spots of the series was always Brea Grant’s portrayal of “The Speedster”. Grant is a favorite among fans of the horror and sci-fi genre being a self confessed geek who does much work within the genres and charitable organizations, and also having starred in Rob Zombie’s “HALLOWEEN II”, and in the cult indie flick “MIDNIGHT MOVIE”. Well now Grant is trying her hand at comics with her new title from IDW, “WE WILL BURY YOU”. Read on for the preview.

Comic world wonderkin Ben Templesmith teased on his website a new series that he will be doing the covers for called ‘We Will Bury You.’ Templesmith had this to say “A little something being cooked up by Brea and Zane Grant, from IDW. I might just be doing some covers. Can you tell?” Looks pretty fun…what do you think?
