[Random Cool] Huey Lewis Takes An Axe To ‘American Psycho’

In competition for the “meta of the day” award is this brilliant send-up of American Psycho featuring Huey Lewis and Weird Al Yankovic. Not only does it accurately describe that film’s subtext (or text, as there’s very little “sub” about it) and cultural ascent, it manages to do so using the object – Huey Lewis – of the conversation in the film that it recreates. It’s like an infinite loop.

The addition of Al is a nice touch, since there’s at least a plausible reason why Lewis would have a beef with him – much the same as Patrick Bateman has a beef with Jared Leto’s Paul Allen in the original film.

Update: Weird Al Wishes He Was Freddy Krueger

Update after the jump. A little bit ago, I ran a post about Weird Al and his ridiculous situation with Lady Gaga and his parody song, ‘Perform This Way‘. Unfortunately, that song won’t be appearing on his next album, but you can check out an amazing teaser video that is a direct homage to A Nightmare On Elm St. after the jump. Weird Al‘s latest album, ‘Alpocalypse’, comes out June 21st.

Weird Al Parodies The Hell Out Of Lady Gaga

So, in a move that everyone saw coming, Weird Al has released a parody of a Lady Gaga song. Specifically, he mocked ‘Born This Way‘ by releasing ‘I Perform This Way‘. However, there’s more here than meets the eye. Apparently, Weird Al contacted Lady Gaga‘s camp to gain permission to release this track, even though by court rulings he has no need to do so. She replied with a “No.” So, Weird Al is going to make the song a free mp3 for anyone to download in the near future AND he’s asking people who enjoy the music to donate to the Human Rights Campaign, which is where he would’ve donated all the money he made from it anyways. You can read the full story here (it’s actually quite worth it).
Cheers to Kevin Riepl for directing me to the story.
