Indie Werewolf Movie ‘Hunger Unholy’ Gets A Trailer

We’ve got a line on a new werewolf movie called Hunger Unholy, which is actually a pretty cool title as far as I’m concerned. The film was written and directed by Nicholas Holland and stars Laura Kriss, JT Taylor, Nate Burud, Nicholas Holland, Lillian Lamour and Jordan Kantola.

It’s super low budget, but I think we need more werewolf movies and I’m glad people aren’t letting limited means get in the way.

In the film, “After the funeral of her boyfriend Gabe’s parents, Kelly heads up north to the family cabin with him and a few of their friends as he prepares to sell it. Things quickly begin to spiral out of control though when their friends begin to disappear one by one with the rising of the full moon.

IDW Catches Werewolves In Brooklyn

IDW Publishing announced that they’ve got a new werewolf series on the way titled Brooklyn Animal Control. The series explores the idea that werewolves have actually been living amongst us in secret for hundreds of years. Although the concept seems a bit cliche, it seems like it could be a fun one shot. The book is written by J.T. Petty with art from Stephen Thompson.

Jorge Michel Grau Asks Damian Alcazar To Transform In Order To ‘Keep Quiet’

We Are What We Are director Jorge Michel Grau announced his latest film, Keep Quiet, around the time of the Fantasia Film Festival back in May and now details are starting to trickle in. Per Variety, Damian Alcazar (pictured above; The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) will star in the film. Keep Quiet will be produced by Mayra Espinosa Castro of Velarium Arts and Todd Brown of XYZ Films. The project is still in the development phase.

In the film, “After the murder of his wife, Alberto decides to exile with his son, Alan. Both venture into a violent world inhabited by mean characters that frame the development of Alan’s schizophrenia: He hallucinates that his father is a werewolf, a violent creature who threatens everything – Alan included – in his vicinity. According to legend, only a loved one can kill the beast. And Alan knows the legend.

Like Reading? And Werewolves? You Might Wanna Give “Feral” A Try!

As a blogger and all around online presence, Matt Serafini definitely knows his sh*t when it comes to horror. I occasionally butt heads with him for liking something I don’t (or vice versa), but he’s certainly done his homework on the genre and is someone I respect.

And he’s got his first book out! “Feral” is available on the Amazon Kindle store (with a physical publication in the coming weeks) for only $4.99. And if you’re feeling tender about even that low of a price, you can always check out a sample chapter! I haven’t had a chance to read it but am certainly looking forward to doing so when I get a moment.

In the book, “It was supposed to be an idyllic summer vacation for college friends Jack Markle and Allen Taylor. But they didn’t know about the evil lurking in the resort town of Greifsfield. When Allen falls under the influence of insidious beauty Elisabeth Luna, Jack begins to realize that sinister forces are at work all around him. And now he’s fighting to save his friends from an age-old evil he never believed could exist.

Even if it kills him.

TV: Awww! Watch Alan Ball Say Goodbye To “True Blood”!!

HBO just aired the last episode of “True Blood”‘s Fifth Season, “Save Yourself”, last night. Not only did it mark the last episode of the season, it marked creator Alan Ball’s last episode as the series’ showrunner. Now we have a video (which apparently aired before last night’s episode) of his goodbye to the show.

Listen, I’ve been fairly vocal about the fact that I’m not a huge “True Blood” fan. I was okay with parts of the first season along with parts of the second. I liked what I saw of this season (I think I saw 4 episodes this year) more than whatever was happening with the show last year but ultimately couldn’t bring myself to like it as much as some of you guys do. It’s just not my thing.

That being said – respect. Ball really did create something special here. As much as it’s just not for me – it resonates with a huge amount of people and there’s something to be said for that. It’s a tricky thing to pull off for one year, let alone five. And Ball’s prior show, Six Feet Under, is one of my all time favorite programs – so I know I’ll at least be tuning in to check out whatever he does next. I’m legitimately excited to see what he comes up with next.

Godspeed, Alan Ball. At least you gave me Jessica. Head inside for the video. READ MORE

TV: [Next On] The Year’s Second To Last Episode Of “True Blood”…”Sunset”

After airing “Gone, Gone, Gone” (episode #58 of “True Blood”‘s fifth season) tonight, HBO looks forward to the final two episodes of the season, the first of which airs next week. Episode #59 airs on August 19th and is called “Sunset” and, being the penultimate episode of the season, looks to be fairly action packed. I don’t regret ceasing my viewership of the show, but I can see why some of you guys dig it.

Slipping further into religious fervor, Bill (Stephen Moyer) gives Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) an order she’s loath to carry out. Armed with a damning video of Russell (Denis O’Hare) and Steve (Michael McMillian), the military delivers an ultimatum to the Authority. Claude (Giles Matthey) and Maurella (Kristina Anapau) take Sookie (Anna Paquin) to meet the faerie elder, who may know something about an ancient family secret. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) reconnects with his father; Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar) hitch a rideinto the Authority.

TV: [Next On] Synopsis For “Dexter” Premiere; “True Blood” Image Teases Bill’s “Master Plan”…

Showtime has released the plot synopsis for “Dexter” Episode 7.01: “Are You….?”

After witnessing her brother kill Travis Marshall, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) attempts to reconcile with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) while struggling to cover up their involvement with the murder. Meanwhile, Detective Mike Anderson has an unfortunate run-in, Quinn and Batista begin to make amends, and LaGuerta finds evidence that causes her to re-think the closed Bay Harbor Butcher case.

In addition, TVline has a new image from “True Blood” that teases Bill’s “master plan.” As the site explains, look at the shiftiness in Bill’s eyes as he hovers over that vial of precious Lilith’s blood. They believe that he’s about to do an about-face, betray Salome and Co., and save the world. So, has Bill been a good guy all along? Probably, which is why “True Blood” continues to suffer from “Heroes” syndrome. READ MORE

TV: [Next On] Three Clips, Including A “Bloody Romance”, Tease This Week’s Episode Of “True Blood”

Starting this Sunday, HBO looks ahead to the final three episodes of “True Blood”‘s fifth season with episode #58 “Gone, Gone, Gone.” They’ve just released a clip, and given that I haven’t seen the show since this season’s fourth episode, it seems that things have gotten even freakier with this blood smeared slow dance. There’s also a slightly less interesting clip,“We Meet Again”, but it includes my fave Jessica so I’m tossing it in anyway. Oh whoops – as I’m typing this another one just popped up! It’s called “Unexpected Guest”. Let me know what happens!

With vampire-on-human attacks increasing, the Authority attempts to woo public favor. Meanwhile, Nora (Lucy Griffiths) tries to convert Eric to Lilith’s gospel. Jason finds a mysterious scroll; Elijah (Keram Malicki-Sanchez), the new vampire sheriff of Area 5, pushes Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Tara (Rutina Wesley) to obey a new mandate; Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar) search for Emma (Chloe Noelle); Russell (Denis O’Hare) seeks a higher calling.Written by Alexander Woo; directed by Scott Winant.

[Fantasia '12] Howling New Imagery From ‘Game of Werewolves’!

One of my favorite films at Fantasia, we’ve scored a hi-res image gallery and batch of posters for Juan Martinez Moreno’s hilarious and gory lycanthrope flick entitled Game of Werewolves (Lobos de Arga), which stars Carlos Areces, Secun de la Rosa, Manuel Manquiña, Mabel Rivera and Luis Zahera.

After 15 years, Tomas, a not very successful writer, comes back to the village in Galicia where his family comes from, Arga, apparently to get an award. But he doesn’t know the real reason why he is there, to end with an old curse that has been haunting the village for the last hundred years.

TV: [Next On] “True Blood” Episode #57, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”

Tonight, HBO aired a preview from the upcoming 57th episode of “True Blood”, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.” Like I said last week, I made it about 4 episodes in before I had to pull the plug on the season. You know what I want to see? A spinoff about Jessica. It’s not like I’ve watched every episode of the show (not claiming to be an expert) – but she seems like the most fleshed out character to me. If they could create a show that focussed on her instead of Sookie and Bill, and turned down the camp a little bit, that might be more fun.

In episode #57, “As the Authority proceeds with Lilith’s plan, Eric plots his escape. Gran directs Sookie to a clue to her parents’ murderer. Andy and Jason search for leads to the identities of the people behind the shifter killings. Alcide recalls his pack induction; Arlene gets caught in Terry and Patrick’s crossfire; Steve gets a new pet.

TV: Two New Clips From “True Blood” Episode #56, Somebody I Used To Know

HBO has released two new clips from the upcoming 56th episode of “True Blood”, “Somebody I Used To Know.” They are respectively titled “Glimmer Of Hope” and “What Happened?” Which is something I’d like to know. I tried to follow this season for you guys – I really did. I made it about 4 episodes in before I had to pull the plug. I get why a lot of people like it, but they must see something in it that I can’t.

In episode #56, “At Authority headquarters, the Chancellors revel in the afterglow of recent events; Eric gets a message from Godric; Bill is shaken by a distant memory. Helped by Claude and his sisters, Sookie and Jason visit the site of their parents’ deaths, with shocking results. An emotional Luna tries to walk in Sam’s shoes. Indie Werewolf Thriller ‘Crying Wolf’ Wraps for 2013 Release

Production has officially wrapped on Tony Jopia’s indie horror comedy Crying Wolf (based on his short “Cry Wolf”), which stars Caroline Munro, Terry Christian, Joe Egan, Kristofer Dayne, Gabriella Hersham, Ian Donnelly, David Sellicks, Marco Rice, Rosie Pearson, Carlos Paginton, Hugh Edwards, Terry Andrews, Rog Pinkham and Kimberley Jaraj.

From Tirana Films International and Great Dayne Entertainment, “The story is about the antics of a group of young locals in a Cotswolds village who become werewolves after one of them is bitten,” reports the Guardian.

Said Jopia: “It’s a very wacky, crazy comedy very much in the style of Hammer Horror, Benny Hill and the old Ealing comedies – lots of Britishness! We filmed it in Deddington and on a farm in Duns Tew.

We’ve got some really amazing special effects and prosthetics – some of the werewolves had to undergo seven hours in make-up for 20 minutes’ filming!

The film will be released in the UK next February.

TV: [Next On] Preview Of “True Blood” Episode #56 ‘Somebody I Used To Know’

HBO has released the recap of last night’s episode of “True Blood” along with a look ahead at next week’s episode #56 “Somebody I Used To Know.” Sticking to my guns and bailing on the series, I haven’t watched an episode this season. Watching these recaps reassures me I made the right decision — it looks as even more humans have become creatures of the night. I expect Bon Temp to be completely void of humans by the series finale. Lame.

TV: [Next On] Jason Makes a Promise & Alcide Swears Off Sookie In “True Blood” Preview Clips

In watching the preview for next week’s “True Blood” it looks as if things are heating up between Roman (Chris Meloni) and Russell (Denis O’Hare), while the fairies continue their light show and the humans fend for themselves. In addition to the previously released teaser, HBO shared two clips, one where Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) makes a promise, the other where Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) gives Alcide (Joe Manganiello) a bit of vampire brainwashing.

Here’s the preview of Episode #54 (5.06): “Hopeless”: “The aftermath at the asylum leaves Sookie (Anna Paquin) with an eerie sense of foreboding.
