Behold Fair Canadians, The Wii Mini Is Coming And It’s Crazy Cheap

It’s not uncommon for a console manufacturer to release a redesigned version of their console a few years after its launch. Microsoft and Sony have reworked their home consoles with gorgeous results. It took a while for Nintendo to finally get around to redesigning the Wii — though really, the Wii never had any issues with its size — and the result is definitely… cheap. I’m not a big fan of the Wii Mini’s look, it looks too cheap and toy-like to me, nor do I understand Nintendo’s reasoning behind completely removing the console’s online functionality (perhaps they’re looking ahead, when online support for Wii games will eventually be shut down).

If you’re a fan of the Virtual Console or watching Netflix, Hulu, or Youtube on your Wii, this probably isn’t for you. It’s also a Canada exclusive, so there’s that. The console will only run you $99, bringing it pretty damn close to the PS2′s price point and a fantastic (and moderately cheap) Christmas gift. Assuming you live in Canada, of course.

Halloween Was Being Pitched As A Motion Control Game

Now this is surprising. It would seem the Halloween films, as rebooted by director Rob Zombie, were being pitched as a motion control game for current gen consoles. From Creative Director Thierry Perreau’s LinkedIn profile, you can see he listed work as a Game Designer for a Halloween title for the Wii, Xbox 360 (Kinect) and PS3 (PS Move). How incredible would something like that be? I wouldn’t mind flailing my arms as I run from Michael Myers, or better yet, making Psycho style stab motions in the air as I slay my unsuspecting prey as Michael. I would totally go out and buy that.

MikesBehindYou Halloween Was Being Pitched As A Motion Control Game

I’m not sure whatever happened to the idea since to our knowledge it never got passed the “pitch” stage of video game development, but my mind’s already reeling with the possibilities. Of course I don’t think such a game would put us in the shoes, or boots I should say, of iconic serial killer Michael Myers, since that would only be fuel for the tired argument of whether video games make gamers violent (spoiler: they don’t). What about you? Does the idea of a motion control Halloween game get your nether regions all aflutter, or is this something you could live without? READ MORE

E3: X-Men Destiny Trailer Will Push You Into Super Hero Stardom

X-Men Destiny has the makings of what could turn out to be quite an awesome game. The game focuses on you starting out as a mutant and you get to shape yourself as well as your powers. Sounds pretty excellent, I’ve been wanting to do that since I was a kid.

X-Men Destiny comes out December 31st on the Nintendo Ds, Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE

Dead Space 2 Almost Made it to the Wii

It would seem EA had planned to strategically dismember the Wii with a port of Dead Space 2 before realizing that was a terrible idea and cancelling the project. I’m all for giving as many people the chance to play the game as possible but horror games have done poorly on Nintendo’s console in the past regardless of their quality. Extraction was a fantastic game that did well critically but failed miserably when it came to sales. I’m sure Dead Space 2 would’ve fared better, but probably not by too much.

Pixel Dead Space 2 Almost Made it to the Wii

This news comes from EA designer Gerry Sakkas and freelance developer Matt Spriggens’ LinkedIn pages, where it and a sequel to The Simpsons Game were listed on their profiles. I can’t say I’m surprised or terribly saddened to hear we won’t be seeing either of these games, are you? READ MORE

X-Men Destiny’s Aimi Yoshida

In X-Men Destiny you get to start out as a super hero YOU. You get to pick whatever powers you want, and basically get to kick ass. This is my kind of game. I love having free reign of my character as far as creation goes. I like to feel like “god” spewing out a person exactly as I want them.

Now that the picture below grabbed your attention, I can get down to the nerdy end of things. It goes to show us gamers the industry is not going to slow down for anyone ever.

Dead Space 2 DLC Announced, Will Continue Extraction’s Story

Dead Space 2 is just hitting shelves today and we’re already getting some rather exciting announcements regarding sequels and DLC. It would seem Dead Space 2 will be getting some DLC entitled ‘Severed’ that will play parallel to the story in the main game. If you own a Wii (or now, a PS3) you’ll probably recognize the two protagonists from Dead Space: Extraction, Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdock, who in the DLC live on the Sprawl after the events in Extraction.

A Look At the Otherworld Version of Mario

This is without a doubt the scariest thing I’ve seen all day, and that’s saying something after catching my first glimpse of Jersey Shore and that monstrosity they call a Snooki. The following video is a terrifying glimpse into a Silent Hill inspired Otherworld reality where Miyamoto is a twisted form of his usually happy self and Mario’s been turned into a house servant.
