It’s not uncommon for a console manufacturer to release a redesigned version of their console a few years after its launch. Microsoft and Sony have reworked their home consoles with gorgeous results. It took a while for Nintendo to finally get around to redesigning the Wii — though really, the Wii never had any issues with its size — and the result is definitely… cheap. I’m not a big fan of the Wii Mini’s look, it looks too cheap and toy-like to me, nor do I understand Nintendo’s reasoning behind completely removing the console’s online functionality (perhaps they’re looking ahead, when online support for Wii games will eventually be shut down).
If you’re a fan of the Virtual Console or watching Netflix, Hulu, or Youtube on your Wii, this probably isn’t for you. It’s also a Canada exclusive, so there’s that. The console will only run you $99, bringing it pretty damn close to the PS2′s price point and a fantastic (and moderately cheap) Christmas gift. Assuming you live in Canada, of course. READ MORE
Next month Telltale Games, the developer of the Back to the Future and Jurassic Park games is bringing us another episodic series based on The Walking Dead. It will be delivered in five episodes, each taking roughly 2 hours to complete, and will feature many of the things Telltale fans have come to expect from their games. Only this time the quick time events that permeated Jurassic Park will take a backseat to more immersive gaming. You’ll be able to control your character, Lee Everett, as he travels to the Deep South, meeting new and familiar faces along the way.
Fans of the TV series and the comic books will have plenty to love here as Telltale’s focus is on capturing the emotional storytelling and character development the series is known for. Whether or not you’ve enjoyed their past work, there’s no denying that that’s a department where the developer excels. Head past the break for more info and a brand new trailer! READ MORE
Now this is surprising. It would seem the Halloween films, as rebooted by director Rob Zombie, were being pitched as a motion control game for current gen consoles. From Creative Director Thierry Perreau’s LinkedIn profile, you can see he listed work as a Game Designer for a Halloween title for the Wii, Xbox 360 (Kinect) and PS3 (PS Move). How incredible would something like that be? I wouldn’t mind flailing my arms as I run from Michael Myers, or better yet, making Psycho style stab motions in the air as I slay my unsuspecting prey as Michael. I would totally go out and buy that.
I’m not sure whatever happened to the idea since to our knowledge it never got passed the “pitch” stage of video game development, but my mind’s already reeling with the possibilities. Of course I don’t think such a game would put us in the shoes, or boots I should say, of iconic serial killer Michael Myers, since that would only be fuel for the tired argument of whether video games make gamers violent (spoiler: they don’t). What about you? Does the idea of a motion control Halloween game get your nether regions all aflutter, or is this something you could live without? READ MORE
X-Men Destiny has the makings of what could turn out to be quite an awesome game. The game focuses on you starting out as a mutant and you get to shape yourself as well as your powers. Sounds pretty excellent, I’ve been wanting to do that since I was a kid.
X-Men Destiny comes out December 31st on the Nintendo Ds, Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE
It would seem EA had planned to strategically dismember the Wii with a port of Dead Space 2 before realizing that was a terrible idea and cancelling the project. I’m all for giving as many people the chance to play the game as possible but horror games have done poorly on Nintendo’s console in the past regardless of their quality. Extraction was a fantastic game that did well critically but failed miserably when it came to sales. I’m sure Dead Space 2 would’ve fared better, but probably not by too much.
This news comes from EA designer Gerry Sakkas and freelance developer Matt Spriggens’ LinkedIn pages, where it and a sequel to The Simpsons Game were listed on their profiles. I can’t say I’m surprised or terribly saddened to hear we won’t be seeing either of these games, are you? READ MORE
Update: Just to clarify, this was an April Fool’s Day joke (As if you didn’t know this already).
For years survival horror fans have been waiting for the Fatal Frame IV to bring its scrawny ass to the US. Today, all our wishes are finally coming true, but not without a pretty big catch. Some fans may still see this as a good thing, but all good things come with a price, and Fatal Frame IV’s long awaited journey to our shores is not different.
Let’s start with the good news. First, we’ll finally be able to play the game. That’s pretty great, right? Second, it’s coming to us in an incredibly cool package, filled with goodies. Now for the bad news: you’re going to have to save up for this one kiddies, because it’s not cheap. Oh, and it’s still Wii-exclusive, and that’s always bad news. Am I right? Head past the break to see the brand new Fatal Frame IV Wii bundle, in all its dark and gloomy glory. READ MORE
In X-Men Destiny you get to start out as a super hero YOU. You get to pick whatever powers you want, and basically get to kick ass. This is my kind of game. I love having free reign of my character as far as creation goes. I like to feel like “god” spewing out a person exactly as I want them.
Any who, the spotlight today is on a mutant known as Aimi Yoshida. Her power it would seem is to allow other mutants to use their powers more efficiently. Sucks to be her I guess. Head past the break for screens and her bio. READ MORE
Now that the picture below grabbed your attention, I can get down to the nerdy end of things. The gaming industry in 2010 brought in somewhere over 33 billion dollars, and that is with sales of around 3.2 billion games. Those are amazing numbers to see in such a terrible economy. It goes to show us gamers the industry is not going to slow down for anyone ever.
If you head past the break you can see the 33 Billion broken down by console, dlc, android, etc. READ MORE

Dead Space 2 is just hitting shelves today and we’re already getting some rather exciting announcements regarding sequels and DLC. It would seem Dead Space 2 will be getting some DLC entitled ‘Severed’ that will play parallel to the story in the main game. If you own a Wii (or now, a PS3) you’ll probably recognize the two protagonists from Dead Space: Extraction, Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdock, who in the DLC live on the Sprawl after the events in Extraction.
The DLC will be two chapters long and will hopefully be only our first taste of DLC for the game, with much to follow. No word yet on pricing or a release date but that’s where patience comes in. I hear it’s a virtue. READ MORE
This is without a doubt the scariest thing I’ve seen all day, and that’s saying something after catching my first glimpse of Jersey Shore and that monstrosity they call a Snooki. The following video is a terrifying glimpse into a Silent Hill inspired Otherworld reality where Miyamoto is a twisted form of his usually happy self and Mario’s been turned into a house servant. If your innocent mind can handle it, I dare you to click the play button.
Hey you, 2010′s over and you know what that means, right? It’s that time of the year again where we enjoy a long sigh of relief knowing all the holiday shenanigans are finally over. It’s 2011 and I suggest we enjoy the crap out of it because if the Mayans have their way we’ll all be meeting in person whatever dear and fluffy Lord, Deities, or Flying Spaghetti Monster you believe in come 2012. I’m sure by now you’ve grown tired of whatever goods you received over the holidays. I mean, who actually appreciates new things for more than a week? No one, that’s who. So that’s where I come in, to add a ray of Adam flavored video game sunshine so you can really start the new year off right. And as an added bonus I have way more vitamins than V8 plus you don’t have to worry about whether or not you should recycle me when you’re through.
2010 was pretty great but it could’ve been way better. I mean, come on, last year I asked Santa for news on a slew of missing games like Condemned 3, Dead Island, Doom 4 and Possession but you know what? That old fat bastard didn’t come through. Since this isn’t a place to bitch and moan, though I’m sure most of you are fairly used to me doing just that on more than a few occasions. So let’s take a gander at the bounty of awesome last year brought us so I can force my choices for best horror games of the year on you, and you will like it.READ MORE

Well almost 1 year ago exactly Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 set a record as the biggest entertainment launch in history pulling in 310 million dollars in sales. Well Call Of Duty: Black Ops brought in 360 million in sales. INSANE. 2 years running Activision and its 2 Call Of Duty producing children Treyarch and Infinity Ward destroyed the competition.
Although it does help sales having a multi-platform release, none the less they have still together pulled in close to a billion dollars. READ MORE

I think it’s safe to say there are a lot of people out there that have a serious excess of time. Lucky for us these individuals don’t choose to spend their time thinking up creative ways to murder people or learning how to create bombs out of household supplies; instead they use their extraordinary talents to fabricate incredible console mods.
But since there’s a slew of lists counting down the most amazing xbox/ps3/wii mods I decided to scour the vast and knowledgeable interwebs in search of the craziest, most disturbing and deliciously twisted console mods I could find. What follows are the ten I think stand above the rest. READ MORE
Since Rock Band came out, it has taken its place as one of my most played games of all time. Rock Band 2 came out, and the majestic Ion drum kit, which I purchased and ran me about 300 dollars. I’ve spent an ungodly amount on extra songs, and we are less than 2 months from the release of the 3rd game.
So on that note, check out all the magical songs you’ll get to play past the break. READ MORE
