Preview: Victorian Undead #3

One of the guiltiest pleasures in comic books right now (Yes, even more so than “Barack the Barbarian”) is Wildstorm’s “Victorian Undead.” As tentative as most were when this one was announced last year I wasn’t sure how this one would go over, but since its first issue in November the mini-series has been a very popular title for the company. Beyond the break you’ll find the preview for the 3rd issue in the ongoing dilemma before Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson.

Go To Hell – Dante’s Inferno #1 Review

A demo came out recently for the video game, Dante’s Inferno, which is loosely based on the literary work. Wouldn’t you know it that a comic is out which is loosely based on the video game. Video game comic adaptations have a sordid past, but how did this one fair? Read on to find out…

Happy Halloween! Recomended Reading – Trick ‘R Treat

I just want to wish all the readers a safe and happy Halloween, but I thought I would suggest the best holiday reading to get you in the mood tonight. Wildstorm’s comic adaptation of Trick ‘R Treat. You can check my review of Trick ‘R Treat, which pretty much says that it infuses the best part of Halloween with fun chills and scares. The story revolves around the acts of going door to door for candy and the people it surrounds. Also more knowledgeable readers will know this is also a movie and I believe it to be a facsimile of the movie, which I never want to see because of my deep love for this comic. What are you reading/doing this Halloween?

Sneak Peek At North 40 #2

Over at Wildstorm’s blog , they have shown two early pencils of some pages from North 40 by Fiona Staples. We have one of the pencils below and you can check the other one at their site. If you haven’t yet read North 40 #1, I suggest checking it out. It is a pretty fun story and feels like it’s being written just to be made into a show or movie and I mean that in the most flattering way.

Prototype #1 Review : A Journey Into Comic Adaptation Mediocrity

This week Wildstorm Comics released a comic adaptation of the upcoming videogame, Prototype. In the video game you play a guy named Alex who wakes up in a morgue with amensia and a bevvy of super powers and has to figure out everything out. The plot in the game is definitely not it’s strong suit but even that weak plot is ‘Godfather’ quality compared to the comic. Full review after the break…

Wildstorm Announces H.P. Lovecraft-esque Comic ‘North 40′

Wildstorm this week announced a new comic that will be coming out in July called North 40. CBR had a chance to interview the creator of North 40, Aaron Williams. Here’s what Aaron had to say about the premise of the story:
“Aaron Williams: “North 40” is basically what happens when you take a small backwoods county in the Midwest and drop H.P. Lovecraft on it. An old spellbook, belonging to a witch who practiced the odd incantation or two, was opened and as a result, plunged Conover County into a C’thuloid nightmare. Many of the residents are changed, often for the worse, and those who are still “normal” pretty much find places to hole up and hope for things to improve. A select few gained more extraordinary abilities, and they become some of the book’s heroes. Managing the whole mess is Conover County’s venerable Sheriff Morgan, dispenser of wisdom and .45 slugs, if the need arises.”

Seems like it might be a pretty good comic, check CBR for the rest of the great interview. Graphic Content will keep you updated when more news about North 40 arrives.
