Writer Brandon Seifert has been clawing his way through the comics scene. Seifert came to prominence with his Image Comics the horror medical drama “Witch Doctor”, which was championed by Robert Kirkman for being its unique and off-beat take on the horror genre. Since then Seifert has quickly becoming one of comics hottest writers with his creepy and twisted tales.

Now Seifert is being rewarded with the chance to play with Clive Barker’s Pinhead in the brand-new mini-series “Hellraiser: The Road Below” from BOOM Studios. Seifert primed and ready to tell the story of Kirsty Cotton, survivor of the original “Hellraiser” film, and her road to hell as she transforms into a cenobite. COMICS TO FEAST ON: Week Of September 21st 2011

Another fresh batch of The New 52 are flying your way this week! Most of DC’s major titles have been released, however, there are still a great deal of gems to be found in the new DCU. Highlights from last week’s crop were Batman and Robin, Batwoman, Demon Knights, Green Lantern, and Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.. These groundbreaking new books are still selling out all over the world, and I see no slowing in pace anytime soon.

Obviously there are loads of other comics coming out this week from other publishers, but in honor of such a milestone event, most of the books in this week’s COMICS TO FEAST ON are from DC’s New 52 lineup. Now I know you won’t be buying all 52 new series so let us know which books you can’t wait for!

With the ever-increasing number of books coming out between the tie-ins, the crossovers, and the new series, we’ve got to limit our list of comics for the week somehow. Rather than focus on every major comic hitting the shelves I’ll narrow it down to ten books that stand out from the rest. Whether you’ve been into comics since you were a young’un, or you’re new to the game, I’m here to help you decide which books to read. Read on for the skinny…

GRAPHIC CONTENT PICK OF THE WEEK: Lonmonster – Witch Doctor’ #3

It seems that many major publishers are trying to dip their creative pens in the murky ink of horror comics. Competition is fierce, to say the least, and writers must constantly come up with new ideas to prove themselves within the tightly knit community. For some reason, Image has always stood out as one of the best horror comic publishers. They know what fans want, not just blood and guts but a brain and a heart too. Image’s Skybound imprint, founded by Robert Kirkman, (The Walking Dead), horror comic icon, brings us “Witch Doctor”, a mini-series showcasing a grotesque and disturbing world where diseases are synonymous with monsters. If you’ve missed the first two issues, have no fear; the mini-series is set in stand-alone episodes, meaning you can still pick up this creepy book (good thing for you since the first issue sold out!). Witch Doctor is an insane comics that would have devout Christians spewing up the Eucharist, and amen for that. Read on for the skinny…

EDIT: “Witch Doctor” issue #3 actually hits stores September 14th, but screw it, it’s still my pick of the week!

It’s 6 AM and for all practical purposes I should be asleep. Instead, I have decided to throw you all a bone and give you my staff pick of the week. It’s Wednesday, and as usual I am excited about quite a few comics; including new issues of comics I have talked about in my older staff picks such as Joe Casey’s “BUTCHER BAKER, THE RIGHTEOUS MAKER” as well as Scott Snyder’s “AMERICAN VAMPIRE, SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST”. However, this week I have chosen Issue #1 of “WITCH DOCTOR” published by Image.

(UPDATED: Added a 5 page preview.) The past few months have been some of the most strenuous and terrifying times for the entire cast and crew of Image Comics and Skybound’s “THE WALKING DEAD”. With “NO WAY OUT”, the latest and most controversial story-arc in the series to date, has left a lot of questions unanswered, but most importantly it has created a ripple effect that will be felt for the foreseeable future. With several of The Survivors now dead (or dying), and an cloud of speculation thick above the heads of those left behind, series creator Robert Kirkman is set to release the latest installment of the series with issue #85. What does the future hold for Rick Grimes and the rest of the cast? Can they ever find peace or a semblance of salvation in the wake of the zombie apocalypse? Read on for the skinny…

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: The ‘Witch Doctor’ Is In – Seifert And Ketner Talk About The Biggest Debut In Horror Comics This Year!

This Summer might be one of the slowest in recent memory for the horror industry in film, and admittedly: that sucks. But luckily for horror aficionados, casual fans, and passers-by everywhere, the comic industry is still booming with new and interesting titles that are covered in the good ol’ blood n’ guts. However, out of all of the new upstarts that are hoping to find their footing this year, there are few that have even come close to being as unique and interesting as Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner’s upcoming “WITCH DOCTOR” from Robert Kirkman’s newly launched, Skybound Entertainment. The series which follows Doctor Vincent Morrow, Eric Gast, and Penny Dreadful is the first 100% original title to come from the new publisher, and with it it has brought along more buzz than a wicker mask over Nicolas Cage’s screaming head. Up until recently news on the title has been kept quiet, but now with just a few short weeks until the series debut the creative team behind then title took the time to sit down with me and discuss the book at length. Inside you can feast your eyes on the entire interview with Seifert and Ketner, where we cover everything from getting the series off the ground with Robert Kirkman (“THE WALKING DEAD”), the debut of issue #0 with “THE WALKING DEAD”, the series’ initial 4 issue run, and what lies ahead for Dr. Morrow and Co.
