‘Beasts of Burden’ Gets Writer, Will Be CG-Animated

Jack the Giant Killer writer Darren Lempke has been tapped to pen Beasts of Burden, Reel FX and Andrew Adamson’s adaptation of the Dark Horse comic, reports Heat Vision.

Eisner-winning Burden, created by Evan Dorkin (Milk & Cheese) and Jill Thompson (Scary Godmother) is “set in a community called Burden Hill where a series of supernatural events occur, causing a gang of dogs (and one cat) to team up in order to keep their owners and the town’s residents safe.

The pic is intended to be a CG-animated feature adaptation.

More on Uni’s New ‘The Wolfman’ Flick

Yesterday we broke the news on a new The Wolfman film from Universal Pictures. It was unclear if it was a direct-to-disc reboot or a sequel of sorts. Our inside tipster hit us back this morning telling us that Michael Tabb is now in talks to pen the screenplay for what he hears is “a sequel.” The period piece is listed as “Home Entertainment,” so it appears Uni is headed down the same route as Death Race, as previously reported.

Rick Baker and Dave Elsey recently won an Oscar for “Best Makeup” at this year’s Academy Awards for their work on Universal’s 2010 reboot starring Benicio Del Toro as “The Wolf Man”.

The 2010 Joe Johnston-directed remake starring Benicio Del Toro took in $140 million worldwide.
