Marvel Cancels ‘X-Factor’

Some news to fly somewhat under the radar (at least to me) from C2E2, and thanks to our man Jorge Solis for cluing me into this, Marvel will be cancelling the long running “X-Factor” in August or September. Sorry Peter David fans, hopefully he’ll jump on something new. READ MORE

Yesterday in Chicago, Marvel held their first panel where they teased a few upcoming events. We have absolutely no idea what this entails as of yet, but you can be sure more details will come as the weekend continues. Will this be the return of Professor X? READ MORE

New Poster For ‘The Wolverine’ Sees The City Crumble

Since The Dark Knight Rises, it’s become essential that movie posters depict a city crumbling behind the struggling hero. The UK Twitter feed for The Wolverine has released a new poster that fits right in with the trend, as Japan falls to ruins behind a shirtless Hugh Jackman. There’s also a six-second clip of the trailer that was tweeted which you can also check below.

The Wolverine is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2013. READ MORE

There’s Actually Blood In James Mangold’s ‘The Wolverine’!

One element of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that pissed me off to no end was the simple fact that Wolverine never, ever, ever had blood on his hands or claws after viciously stabbing an enemy. His claws remained pristine and shiny throughout the entire film. Along with his healing factor, he also garnered the cleaning power of Mr. Clean. The latest still from The Wolverine shows Hugh Jackman with claws out and they’ve got some blood on them. READ MORE

Is Nightcrawler Back For ‘Days Of Future Past’?

James McAvoy has received his script for the upcoming First Class sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, though he has yet to read it. Apparently we might be seeing the return of Nightcrawler, and Alan Cumming may be reclaiming the role.

Speaking to Heat Radio, McAvoy listed off the cast of the upcoming X-flick: “You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nicholas Hoult will be back, and he’s just blossoming massively over [in America]. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – “Huge” Jackman is coming by, he’s massive, 7’5″ and muscley.” Check out the interview below. Hugh Jackman Gives Some Spoilers For ‘The Wolverine’

In an interview with Parade Magazine, Hugh Jackman revealed some nice details about his upcoming film, The Wolverine. Jackman told Parade, “Okay, the movie takes place after ‘X-Men: The Last Stand. My character is at his lowest. He is supposed to be able to heal himself, but he may encounter someone who has worked out a way to really hurt him. And there is a cameo from one of the past X-Men in it.” More, less spoilery stuff, from the interview below. READ MORE

Nightcrawler Returns In “X-Termination”

Nightcrawler has always been my favorite “X-Men” character, and I’ve missed him so over the past few years. Today, Marvel released the teaser image below of the teleporting mutant duking it out with Wolverine. The image came with the words, “World’s Collide,” which leads me to believe we won’t be getting the classic version of Nightcrawler. As CBR points out, “In recent years, teases for the character’s return yielded the return instead of the “Age of Apocalypse” universe”. Marvel said very little so it’s unsure whether Nightcrawler will show up in AoA, or something else entirely. Chances are it’s going to piss someone off anyway. READ MORE

Writer Brian Wood Takes Over X-Men Books

With the departure of writer Brian Wood (DMZ, Northlanders) from DC, we knew it was only a matter of time before Marvel got their hooks into him. Now with the announcement at this weekend’s at Wondercon, Wood will be taking over both X-Men and Ultimate Comics X-Men beginning in June with X-Men #30 and Ultimate X-Men #13. This creative change will bode well for the X-Men books as Wood will undoubtedly give the franchise a well deserved shot in the arm.

What’s Coming? Avengers Vs. X-Men!

So what’s all the hoopla about this ‘It’s Coming’ teaser nonsense from Marvel? Yep, you guessed it Avengers Vs. X-Men. The publisher revealed their “secret” plans yesterday afternoon on their website as well as in USA Today that their next big event will not be run by one single man, but by a team of their best writers. Avengers Vs. X-Men will be co-written by Marvel’s five “Architect” writers: Jason Aaron, Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and Jonathan Hickman with illustrations by John Romita Jr., Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert. Sounds like a winner to me! Read on for some more deets.

COMICS TO FEAST ON: Week Of November 9th 2011

Fewer and fewer leaves find themselves on the trees, the temperature is taking a nose dive every week (at least in Canada), and with the holiday season fast approaching most of us will try to enjoy our added time spent indoors. It’s only natural that with an increase in time spent in our cozy rooms comes an increase in time spent reading comics. The winter is a hot season…for graphic novels, and publishers will be releasing quite a few big titles in the week leading up to the holidays, so get out your pen and paper and start your wish list early! This week brings on the third issues of the acclaimed BATWOMAN and DEMON KNIGHTS as well as the long awaited RETURN TO PERDITION graphic novel.

With the ever-increasing number of books coming out between the tie-ins, the
crossovers, and the new series, we’ve got to limit our list of comics for the week somehow. Rather than cramming so many previews down your throat that you barely breathe, I’m going to give you my ten most anticipated books of the week. So feast your eyes on these! Whether you’ve been into comics since you were a young’un, or you’re new to the game, I’m here to help you decide which books to read. Read on for the skinny…

COMICS TO FEAST ON: Week Of September 21st 2011

Another fresh batch of The New 52 are flying your way this week! Most of DC’s major titles have been released, however, there are still a great deal of gems to be found in the new DCU. Highlights from last week’s crop were Batman and Robin, Batwoman, Demon Knights, Green Lantern, and Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.. These groundbreaking new books are still selling out all over the world, and I see no slowing in pace anytime soon.

Obviously there are loads of other comics coming out this week from other publishers, but in honor of such a milestone event, most of the books in this week’s COMICS TO FEAST ON are from DC’s New 52 lineup. Now I know you won’t be buying all 52 new series so let us know which books you can’t wait for!

With the ever-increasing number of books coming out between the tie-ins, the crossovers, and the new series, we’ve got to limit our list of comics for the week somehow. Rather than focus on every major comic hitting the shelves I’ll narrow it down to ten books that stand out from the rest. A Not So Bloody Preview Of Wolverine # 14

Wolverine has always always been angry, bitter, and seeking revenge on someone. In this story we’ve literally seen Wolvy dragged through hell, and now Marvel promises to deliver a secret that shock readers to the core. Though the preview may not be so bloody (really, there’s no blood at all), I have a feeling it’s not all going to be fun and games as ‘Wolverine’s Revenge’ concludes at the end of August. The Hottest X-Title Continues in ‘X-Men’ #16!

After Christopher Yost’s run on X-Men, it will undoubtedly be hard to match such a brilliant storyline, so what is Marvel doing to continue the thrills in the X-World? How will The X-Men continue their journey into the rest of the Marvel U? Well, they are clashing with another one of the biggest and newest Marvel titles this year, The FF! Magneto and Dr. Doom join forces, possibly the most bad-ass villain-gone-good team ever, at the end of August. Read on for the skinny…

E3: X-Men Destiny Trailer Will Push You Into Super Hero Stardom

X-Men Destiny has the makings of what could turn out to be quite an awesome game. The game focuses on you starting out as a mutant and you get to shape yourself as well as your powers. Sounds pretty excellent, I’ve been wanting to do that since I was a kid.

X-Men Destiny comes out December 31st on the Nintendo Ds, Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE

CONTENT PICK OF THE WEEK: Lonmonster – “X-Men” Issue #13

With the incredible amount of X-Men titles on the stands nowadays, it seems an incredibly daunting task to figure out which ones are worth reading. Although a lot has gone down for Cyclops and the gang in the past few years, nothing has been exceedingly noteworthy for Xavier’s (graduated) students. It’s not because the books aren’t good, or because there’s a lack of suspense, rather it’s because the X-Men always seem to live in their own little X-bubble, ignoring much of what is happening in the rest of the Marvel Universe. However, this all seems to be changing little by little, and it’s thanks to books like this. Yost and company (there are way too many names on the cover to list them all) have done a great job in this arc to reincorporate the X-Men back into the Marvel Universe. The First to Last story provides nostalgia for the past while still tying into current X-Men trends, offering a perfect mix of old and new. So if you’re wondering which X-titles to read on a monthly basis, this is one of them. Read on for the skinny…

X-Men Destiny’s Aimi Yoshida

In X-Men Destiny you get to start out as a super hero YOU. You get to pick whatever powers you want, and basically get to kick ass. This is my kind of game. I love having free reign of my character as far as creation goes. I like to feel like “god” spewing out a person exactly as I want them.
