A lot of you probably don’t remember playing the X-Men Arcade game, and a lot of you (sadly) probably don’t really remember arcades. There sure aren’t many arcades left. The random nickel arcade, or a few games in a restaurant, bar, bowling alley or movie theater. Dave and Busters, eh sort of, and Gameworks. But the true arcades are mostly gone forever, and they show no signs of making a comeback.
So, what’s the next best thing? Bringing the old classics to the items that destroyed the arcades. The next gen systems. You can get X-Men with 6 player YES 6 player co-op on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. You can get it for $9.99 on the PSN or 800 Microsoft Murder For Sport Bucks on XBL. Screens past the break. READ MORE
X-Men Destiny is just about every X-Men nerds wet dream. You basically start from the ground up as a super hero. Whatever special mutant powers you want are yours. I’m sure you can’t have them all, however it would be fun to rule the world. Check out this trailer below that will only get you more excited for the game.
You can expect new mutants (though, I would have thought by now they have sucked that well completely dry), lots of team work, and with any luck some beautiful graphics to go along with it. No release date yet, but the game will release on Nintendo Ds and Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. READ MORE
Within Temptation, one of my favorite female fronted bands, has announced ‘The Unforgiving’ as their long awaited fifth studio album, which is tentatively scheduled for a March 2011 release. The album is going to be a concept album based on a comic book by writer Steven O’Connell (Bloodrayne, Dark 48). The band has redesigned their website to offer clues and images in anticipation of this release.
Also well known for their amazing live visual show, Within Temptation have commissioned Romano Molenaar (Witchblade, Darkness, X-Men) to create characters and scenery for ‘The Unforgiving’.
Guitarist Robin Westerholt comments: “On this album, we’ve taken a totally different approach. Each song on “The Unforgiving” was written along Steven’s narrative. The main characters of the comic are reflected in our songs. The concept pushed us and gave us the inspiration to come up with a new approach to our sound. It resulted in writing our best songs so far.”
Vocalist Sharon Den Adel adds in: “We have been big comic fans since our childhood. With this album, we felt the time was there to take a new step in our creative development, to take it further and broaden our horizon. Because of the concept, the songs are more diverse than ever before. It was the late 80’s when we started to read comic books, and that sound has certainly has left a mark on The Unforgiving.”
Check after the jump for a sample comic page. READ MORE
Yeah, you read that title right. And it’s about DAMN time this starts happening more. I’m sure all of you semi oldies like me remember spending countless hours in arcades, Pizza Huts, movie theaters, just to name a few. Playing X-Men, and many other classic arcade games. Can we get the Simpsons arcade game on the consoles next?
The game will have 6 player drop in co-op. Which basically means you should be able to drop in an out of online games with your friends as you please. You will also be able to choose your difficulty if you are feeling like an arcade expert badass. Screen shots past the break. The exact release is not yet known, but it looks like it will be out this fall on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. READ MORE
Wow, I think that this might just be the biggest moment in recent Marvel history for the character of “BLADE” since he was putting butts in theater seats across the world. (Well, “TRINITY” not withstanding) Now that the character is officially an “ULTIMATE AVENGER” you would think that the publisher would have hit their “BLADE Quota”, but that doesn’t seem to be the case as the character will be making his debut in the second issue of “CURSE OF THE MUTANTS” this August! (Let’s all act surprised when he shows up, maybe he won’t notice!) Inside you can get a look at the 6 page unlettered preview of the issue that drops August 11th. Read on for the skinny.

As I walked around the convention floor of C2E2 this past weekend (till the point of bleeding, literally.) I made a point of hanging out at the Marvel Comics booth a lot. Maybe it was the mass amounts of hooting and hollering from fans at the “IRON-MAN” trailers, or the fact that they had a plethora of video games to demo, but I couldn’t help but notice the massive amounts of vampire ads lying around the tables and booths. We have heard plenty of rumors of the publisher doing crossovers into the world of “DRACULA”, and the “NEW X-MEN” teasers have been plastered just about everywhere that Marvel can put them. All of this was hearsay and rumors until the publisher held their panel in the conference room of the convention where it revealed plenty of blood-drenched details on the projects that it will be rolling out all Summer long, and if you are a Marvel faithful you’ll be sure to take notice. inside you can get a glimpse at all the plans the company has to bring the bloodsuckers to some of its most popular titles, and then chime in with your thoughts on the move. Trust me, there will be no sparkling, except maybe for Jubilee. She’s always spark-ly though, she can’t help it. Read on for the skinny.
