‘State Of Decay’ Sells Over Half A Million Copies, Patch Fix Coming Soon

Today, developer Undead Labs revealed a bit of exciting news about their ambitious open-world zombie survival game State of Decay, which recently passed the half a million sold milestone on XBLA. That’s a mighty impressive number, especially so for an indie game with little marketing.

This success all but guarantees we’ll be seeing more of that mysterious follow-up project, code-named Class4, but not before they bring State of Decay to Steam and add a “pure sandbox mode” in the near future (possibly with added co-op, too).

I don’t think I’m as skeptical about Batman Arkham Origins and many others. Though I am that way about a lot of things. I do love me a good origin story as well. The main force driving the story of Arkham Origins is that there is a 50 million dollar bounty on Batman’s head. So all the badies in town are out to kill him dead. Spoiler alert, he lives. I know, shocker, but supposedly there have been a couple games about him already released. Check out the new game play trailer past the break!

I’m sure deep down a lot of you wished you could be as cool as Mad Max. Well you get the next best thing. You get to play as him in his very own video game! Hooray! The freshly announced game will be an open world 3rd person shooter, but it will also focus heavily on vehicular warfare. You’ll spend your time wandering the wasteland in fighting bandits and building the ultimate combat vehicle. The game is being developed by Avalanche Studios, who are behind the Just Cause series. Check out an awesome announcement trailer past the break. The game will be hitting the consoles hard in 2014 on the PC, Playstation 3 and 4, and the Xbox 360 and One.

When the Xbox 360 launched, it essentially killed the original Xbox. To prove history won’t repeat itself when the Xbox One releases this November, Microsoft has redesigned the Xbox 360 to be smaller and run more quietly. They’re also taking a page out of Sony’s book by offering two free games a month to Xbox Love Gold subscribers, starting with Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed II.

On top of all that, Microsoft claims there will be “hundreds of games” that will come to the console over the coming years. The Xbox One will likely become their focus in the near future, but it’s good to hear they’re going to continue supporting the Xbox 360.

Things have been fairly hush hush about Square Enix’s murder mystery game Murdered: Soul Suspect. If you head past the break however you can see the first official trailer. It looks great, and the leave an obvious hint at the end about E3 this year. So we definitely have more in store for us next week. It also hints a little bit at their next video which looks to show some gameplay. The game is looking to come out on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. Though E3 might spread the game to our upcoming consoles.

On June 11th you’ll be able to get your hands on a rare item. That rare item is a vampire game. In this latest game play trailer you do what vampires do best. Sneak around and kill people. I’m a little weary that Dark could get boring however because all the game play I’ve seen is filled with creeping. Don’t get me wrong, vampires are all about stealth but we don’t want it to feel repetitive and get boring after the first hour. Way way back in April Xbox 360 users exclusively got their hands on the latest Call Of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising Multiplayer Map. Well it has finally come to the PC and Playstation 3. Mob of the Dead is exactly as it sounds. Some of your favorite Hollywood mobsters, Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Chazz Palminteri and Joe Pantoliano, go up against the dead. Mob of the Dead isn’t a standalone however, it comes as part of the Uprising Map Pack. Get the details on the maps, and the Mob screens past the break. Not too many comic related characters gone video games come out very well. But I am incredibly excited for the upcoming Deadpool game. It really looks like they’re going about it the right way. It looks like it doesn’t take itself too seriously, especially because Deadpool himself is quite the jokester. It also looks pretty fun and pretty gory. What more could we ask for? Some of the original masters of video game horror are trying to get back to their roots, and get you back to shitting your pants. In this latest developer diary Shock and Panic the devs go into some things they did in the game to freak you the hell out. From increasing the tempo of the music to enemies spawning in random places, it seems the scare factors have been much more thought out than in the past couple games. Bethesda Softworks just announced the next game in the Wolfenstein franchise and it will be known as Wolfenstein: The New Order. Bethesda is going at it hard with this new Wolfenstein and The Evil Within, and I say cheers to that! The game will be coming out in the 4th quarter of this year, on the PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, AND the next gen consoles. Exciting! They haven’t revealed much more about the game thus far, but I’m thinking it may be a bit more action oriented based on the trailer you can check out past the break. What do you guys think, excited? Nay?

I can sit here and try to explain to you how the Grindhouse trailer guy voices this trailer, or how it’s one of the biggest best nods to 80′s actions flicks. We all know Techland. They brought us the wonderful Dead Island. But now they’re switching things up a bit and bringing you a first person slasher where you fight against the armies of hell. The game looks like a much more demonic version of a Skyrim or Oblivion. And there’s looting. Maybe one of my favorite things ever. My friends despise me for my extra time spent looting. You can enjoy the campaign on your own, or you and up to 3 others can play against each other white fighting each other monsters and racking up points. A big issue a lot of gamers have with the most recent Resident Evil games is that Capcom is pulling further and further out of the horror genre. Resident Evil: Revelations is the exception. When creating the game developers wanted to recreate some of the feelings and fears players got from earlier games in the series. But one has to wonder if such a thing could ever be the same again. Sure you can add more scares and less action, but you can’t take away the crystal clear graphics and updated game play. Or could you? The Call To Arms map pack is the 2nd DLC released for Gears Of War: Judgment. It includes 3 new multiplayer maps, and an all new multiplayer mode, Master At Arms. The pack also brings 10 new achievements worth 250gsp. You also get new character and weapon skins. It’s definitely in your best interest to get the season pass if you can afford it. You can save 20 percent over all the DLC being released. The DLC is available now for season pass holders, and next week for the rest of you shlubs. Xbox Gets Pizza Hut Delivery App, Immediately Wins Console War

That’s it, the console war has been won, and with time to spare. Today, Microsoft launched a Pizza Hut app that lets you order pizza directly from your dashboard using the Kinect — or a controller, if you’re not feeling particularly fancy. Now this is innovation, and the reason why I’m so passionate about this industry. Xbox Live’s Larry Hryb told Polygon, “We’re always looking at ways to give our audience more of what they’re interested in… if you look at our audience, they love pizza. I mean, who doesn’t? It has international appeal, and Pizza Hut is a recognized brand that matches up well with the Xbox brand.”

Yes Larry, we do love pizza. I’d keep writing, but I suddenly have an urge to dust of my Kinect. I once had a dream where I ordered a pizza just by waving my hands at my TV, and now that dream is about to come true.

The Souls series has what you would call, quite the reputation. No, it isn’t a game that sells Call Of Duty numbers, or blows us out of the water with earth shattering graphics and game play. (No, I’m not saying either of those are bad) The series is known for being brutal, and relentless. In the killing of you throughout the campaign. You can almost look at playing the games like a personal challenge. See how far you can get before you huck your controller through a window or punch a baby. I usually hit the baby first. It’s getting to the point in time I think where I need to pick up Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. Not so much for anything besides zombies mode. Though I do enjoy the multiplayer. In the new zombies map Mob Of The Dead, you will find yourselves playing Hollywood mobster superstars Billy Handsome (Ray Liotta), Al “The Weasel” Arlington (Joe Pantoliano), Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca (Chaz Palmentiri), and Michael “Finn” O’Leary (Michael Madsen). Thanks to Lonnie for the heads up on this. Coming May 1st as a standalone downloadable game is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. From the video it seems it doesn’t actually have anything to do with Far Cry 3, though there could be some nods later in the game. The guys over at IGN got a chance to check out the first 15 minutes of the game, and god damn does it look like fun. The game gives off a hardcore 80′s action movie vibe, and it’s hilarious and knows it. Right off the bat from the music, to achievements to the dialogue, it starts referencing some of classics from that magical era. Check out the video past the break. Trust me it’s worth watching through to the end.

Yes you heard it right, it looks as if our pal Bruce Wayne will be going the Lara Croft route. Batman Arkham Origins will take Batman back to the early days of his career. The game takes place years before the events of Arkham Asylum and before crime has overcome Gotham. You will play as an unrefined Batman, and meet a lot of classic characters in the story of an up and coming Batman. Also announced is Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. It allows you to continue the Origins campaign on Nintendo and Sony’s handheld systems. Blackgate will be a 2.5D “companion game” to Origins. Origins will be releasing October 25th of this year on the PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and WiiU. Head past the break if you’d like to gander at some pack shots.

Deep Silver and Koch Media chose their zombie loving couple contest winners. The couple, Jennifer Jones 27, and Rob Blackmore 31, will have beach zombie themed wedding paid for in full. They will also be getting a a Caribbean Honeymoon paid for as well. The wedding will feature most normal things you get at a traditional wedding except with a Dead Island spin. The coolest part, an undead mariachi band. Jennifer will be driven to the ceremony in a custom Dead Island Riptide pick up truck (hopefully it’s classy and comfortable inside).
