Coheed And Cambria Announce Details For New Album

Coheed And Cambria have announced that their upcoming sixth studio record, The Afterman, will be a double concept album and will be released in two separate volumes. The first volume, The Afterman: Ascension, will be out Oct. 9th. The second volume, The Afterman: Descension, will be released at an undetermined date in February 2013. The band has released an album teaser video, which you can watch below. The teaser looks like a mix between Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey, so sci-fi fans take heed.

A deluxe version of the ‘The Afterman’ will include a hardcover coffee-table book with expansive art by Heidi Taillefer and Nathan Spoor with collaborative written work from singer/creator Claudio Sanchez and writer Peter David that will create a song by song experience. David previously worked with Sanchez on the prose novel adaptation of the band’s 2010 album “Year of the Black Rainbow,” and the graphic novel adaptation of their 2003 album “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3“.

The Afterman takes place in the running concept story The Amory Wars. Each title from the band falls into this epic sci-fi arc. It was recently announced that Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson of Leverage Productions will be developing the story into a live-action feature film.

Coheed and Cambria are currently touring with Iron Maiden and will be hitting the road for a headline run beginning in mid-September. All tour dates are below. READ MORE

New COHEED & CAMBRIA Titled ‘Year of the Black Rainbow’, Coming April 2010

Coheed & Cambria updated their website with a little of what we can expect from the band in 2010, including a new album and tour.

“Our new album will be titled, “Year of the Black Rainbow,” and is set for release in April 2010 and will be followed by a headline tour of the US, and then on to Europe and the UK for festivals and such.

As most of you know, the new album will be the “Origin Story” or “The Prequel,” and likely the final story of the ongoing concept story of “The Amory Wars”

With “Year of the Black Rainbow,” we will be releasing a deluxe package that includes a NOVEL OF THE SAME NAME. Not a graphic novel, but a full 300+page prose novel, which will tell the origins of Coheed and Cambria, and much more. There will be no mystery to this story, you will be able to explore it like never before. Presales will start near the end of December, exact date and pricing to be announced soon.”
