With our Bloody Disgusting Selects still pounding out the horror, our Netflix collection is growing, thus we thought a little round-up was warranted. YellowBrickRoad: “A small team of explorers heads into the New Hampshire wilderness to investigate the unexplained disappearance of the residents of Friar, who left their homes 70 years earlier — without their money, their clothes or a word about where they went.” Add to Netflix queue.

Rammbock: “Hoping to reunite with his ex-girlfriend, a lovesick young man drops in to see her but instead finds a brash teen plumber — and before you can say “the undead,” the twosome must barricade the door against a legion of insatiable zombies.” Add to Netflix queue.

Atrocious: “When Spanish police discover a crime scene in which a family has been brutally murdered, they turn their attention to the most riveting evidence — 37 hours of videotape. Soon, new evidence comes to light that there may be more victims.” Add to Netflix queue.

Chop: “After accepting a ride when his car breaks down, Lance finds himself tortured by a man from his past he can’t remember who holds a grudge for events Lance has forgotten. Now Lance must choose between saving the life of his brother or his wife.” Add to Netflix queue.

The Woman: “When hunter and backwoods lawyer Chris Cleek (Sean Bridgers) brings home a feral woman (Pollyanna McIntosh) he found lurking in the woods, he locks her in the shed and orders his family to actively participate in her “civilization.” But they take to the task with varying enthusiasm. The mind-bending, gruesome thriller Atrocious, which garnered a tide of online buzz and quick comparisons to 2008′s Paranormal Activity after its theatrical run in AMC Theatres last month, will be released nationwide on DVD & iTunes October 25, 2011 from Bloody Disgusting Selects. It will also be available on AVAIL-TVN Video on Demand (VOD) the same day until December 25th, 2011.

The directorial debut of Spanish helmer Fernando Barreda Luna, “ ‘Atrocious’ excerpts found footage from a film reel recovered by Spanish police, documenting a family of five discovering the truth behind a dangerous urban legend. The 37 hours of found footage follow Cristian and July Quintanilla passing time at their summer home by investigating a terrifying and mysterious urban legend. As their investigation intensifies, strange occurrences in and around the house escalate rapidly, culminating finally in unspeakable atrocities.”

The film is produced by Octavi Martínez, David Sanz, and Jessica Villegas Lattuada. Atrocious is a Nabu Films and Silencio Rodamos Producciones production.

I’m super excited to report that we’ve acquired North American rights to the post-apocalyptic comedy Hellacious Acres: The Case of John Glass for limited theatrical (we’ll be going art house with this guy), VOD and DVD release as part of their Bloody Disgusting Selects film series. The pic was first announced here on Bloody this past June and premiered at Fantasia.

Montreal-based director Pat Tremblay wrote, directed and played the titular character in Hellacious along with editing, co-scoring and creating most of the visual effects. Cast includes Navin Pratap, Jamie Abrams, Paula J. Davis, Laurent Lecompte and Francis Dubois.

“The story centers on a man suffering from amnesia who wakes up inside a cryogenic freezer as a robotic voice bombards him with information about World War III.”

Inside you’ll find what is easily one of my favorite trailers of the year. Get ready for “action-styled action” and a whole lotta walking…

Tremblay’s most recent films Heads of Control: The Gorul Baheu Brain Expedition and Truck Lover screened as part of Montreal’s Festival du Nouveau Cinema.

Hellacious Acres was acquired out of its North American premiere as an official selection of the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal.

Updated with official trailer! I think we got out of the gate pretty strong with the release of Rammbock (now available on DVD and VOD), but right now we’re gearing up for both Phase 7 (in theaters July 17) and what I think is one of the best movies of the year, Cold Fish, Sion Sono’s absolutely psychotic Japanese black comedy in the vein of a Takashi Miike film. I’d go on record as pretty much guaranteeing that you’re going to LOVE it (I reviewed it last September out of TIFF).

In order to keep Cold Fish UNCUT, Bloody Disgusting Selects is going out with the film UNRATED in limited arthouses beginning on August 5, which could expand if it does well enough. We’ve got those dates for you inside. For those of you not in the limited marketplace, Cold Fish will arrive on DVD and iTunes August 23, with an Amazon pre-order option now available. VOD fans (that’s me!) can catch it as it begins to spread from September 23-November 22.

The main reason we started Bloody Disgusting Selects was to find quality horror films – new and old – and bring them to you dear readers. Nothing excites me more than being THE site to actually find a way to bring you something nobody else would, which is why I’m beyond excited to reveal that we’ve acquired U.S. rights to the Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto’s (“The Mo Brothers”) Indonesian splatterfest Macabre!!

Macabre, also known as “Darah”, is off-the-wall violent and has been called the “Indonesian Inside“.

Starring Ario Bayu, Julie Estelle, Imelda Therinne, Shareefa Daanish, Arifin Putra, “Two newlyweds, along with 4 of their best friends, interrupt their travels to pick up a troubled girl on an abandoned stretch of roadway. When they return her to her ancestral home, the night turns into a crimson-hell for the 6 friends, who find themselves trapped and hunted down by Dara and her cult-like family of deadly protégés, born and raised to systematically eliminate unsuspecting passerby for one nefarious reason.”

It’s not only because we’re so committed to bringing you the best films that we can find, but also because we love hearing your voice and seeing your reviews for each film. That’s why BD Music is beyond excited to announce that Shannon Larkin, drummer of multi-platinum hard rock band Godsmack, will be doing movie reviews for all future BD Selects films! Having spoken to Shannon, I can assure you doubters that he has a huge knowledge of horror and his love for the genre is just as deep and passionate as the rest of us.

Get ready for big things as we’re celebrating our tenth anniversary by taking over the horror world, and we’re bringing you all along for the ride.

This morning we “officially” launched the official Bloody Disgusting Selects website, the hub to all of our theatrical/VOD/DVD endeavors. There you’ll find theater listings, trailers, images, promotions and other interactive features forthcoming. We’ll be building it out with each release starting with the German zombie flick Rammbock: Berlin Undead, which opens in select cities (exclusively at AMC) on Wednesday, May 4.
