Let the Right One In (Magnet)

TNT is not even dabbling in horror, they’re jumping in head first.

The cable channel, who is also working feverishly on M. Night Shyamalan’s “Tales From the Crypt”, has ordered a pilot for a series based on the vampire novel “Let The Right One In,” Variety writes. The TV adaptation is being developed by “Teen Wolf” and “Criminal Minds” creator Jeff Davis.

Based on the best-seller from Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, “Let The Right One In” is an eerie drama about a young boy, long tormented by his classmates, who finds solace in a friendship with a charismatic female vampire who appears to be near his age. The vampire settles into the boy’s small Vermont town with her mysterious caretaker, just as a series of bizarre murders begins attracting the attention of law enforcement. The 2004 book inspired the 2008 Swedish horror film and its U.S. remake, Let Me In.

Davis penned the pilot and will serve as an executive producer with Marty Adelstein (“Aquarius,” “Prison Break,” “Teen Wolf”) and Becky Clements (“Aquarius,” “Last Man Standing”) of Tomorrow Studios, plus Simon Oakes (“Women in Black,” “Let Me In”) of Hammer Films, Carl Molinder who produced the original screenplay and Alex Brunner (“Dark Places”). Turner’s in-house studio, Studio T, will co-produce with Tomorrow Studios.

“Let The Right One In” fits in nicely with TNT’s new horror genre, as the cable net is working on a horror block from M. Night Shyamalan, which includes the hotly anticipated reinvented “Tales From the Crypt.” The pilot joins TNT’s growing pilot slate, which includes “Monsters of God,” “Civil” and the dramedy “Claws.”

Horror movie fanatic who co-founded Bloody Disgusting in 2001. Producer on Southbound, V/H/S/2/3/94, SiREN, Under the Bed, and A Horrible Way to Die. Chicago-based. While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on BD this morning.

This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes (The Bigfoot Trap, Painted in Blood) is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.

You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!

In Alien Hunt, “On a hunting trip in the wilderness, a group of siblings discovers an abandoned military outpost on their land, but is it what it seems?

“Their trip takes a sinister turn when they find themselves facing off against a relentless army of extra-terrestrial beings. Suddenly, the hunters become the hunted.

“The formidable squad of alien soldiers will stop at nothing to wipe out the enemy and in an all-out, brutal battle for survival, it’s kill or be killed in Alien Hunt.”
