Teaser Reveals Gillian Anderson as Ziggy Stardust in Next “American Gods” Episode!

Looks like we need to start watching this show.

With “The X-Files” back and “Hannibal” giving her a juicy role to sink her teeth into, Gillian Anderson has been all over the small screen in recent years, and we couldn’t be happier about that. Anderson is currently starring in Starz’s “American Gods” as Media, a New God who assumes whatever form will deliver her message most effectively.

Media is often personified by iconic celebrities, including Lucille Ball in a recent episode, and in this Sunday night’s Vincenzo Natali-directed ‘Lemon Scented You,’ she’s assuming the form of David Bowie character Ziggy Stardust. Check out a sneak peek teaser over on io9, and find an image of Anderson as Stardust below!

The series, based on Neil Gaiman’s international best selling novel of the same name, began its eight episode first season on April 30th.

The plot posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday, a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.

“American Gods” stars Kristin Chenoweth, Ian McShane, Ricky Whittle, Pablo Schreiber, Emily Browning, Bruce Langley, Crispin Glover, Jonathan Tucker, Dane Cook, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi, Mousa Kraish, Gillian Anderson, Orlando Jones, and Demore Barnes.

The show is written by showrunners Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal”) and Michael Green, who also executive produce. Neil Gaiman and David Slade are also executive producers.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Clive Barker

We told you earlier this month that horror legend Clive Barker is leaving the convention scene behind to focus entirely on his writing, with various upcoming projects in the works.

A series of final appearances from Barker will begin at Days of the Dead Chicago this month, and we’ve learned Barker will also be coming to Monster Mania in New Jersey.

Clive Barker will be signing at Monster Mania 59 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, which runs from August 2 – August 4, 2024. Stay tuned for more info from the convention.

Barker’s official statement earlier this month explained, “… it’s time to focus entirely on writing. I’m not stopping public events because I’ve lost delight in meeting you all over the years. I’m as passionate as ever about sharing my imagination with readers and moviegoers around the world. In the very room where I’m writing these words, I have the manuscripts for a very large number of projects (Thirty-one of them), some very close to completion, others still telling themselves. There are some wild projects in this collection of works, whether close to finished or done. There are also stories that you all knew I would be finishing.”

“Abarat IV and V are amongst the books at my feet,” he continued. “So is the Third and final book of The Art and the sequel to The Thief of Always. There are also return visits to characters and mythologies you may have thought I would never return to.

“I hope I am still able to surprise you in the decades ahead.”
