Check Out Concept Art for TV Series “Judge Dredd: Mega-City One”

IM Global and independent U.K. games developer and publisher Rebellion are currently developing “Judge Dredd: Mega-City One, a live action TV series that should make up for the fact that we’re probably never getting a sequel to the kickass 2012 film.

Karl Urban may even have a role in the series!

It’ll likely be a while before the series arrives but it does seem that pre-production is well underway. IGN just got their hands on two pieces of concept art from artist Jack Eaves, one titled “Democracy March” and the other “Lowlife Arrival.”

They’re our first teases of the futuristic world the series will take us to.

Initial reports peg the series as set in a future where the East Coast of the U.S. has become a crime-ridden megalopolis. The ensemble drama will follow a team of Judges — futuristic cops invested with the power to be judge, jury, and executioner — as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them.

Oh god I’m looking forward to this so much. I’m even ok with Dredd NOT being the central character, with it potentially revolving around other Judges, telling wider scoped stories potentially. I think that is something we need in this case. We all loved Dredd, let’s hope they keep it ‘in lore’ and let’s hope they nail down Urban to reprise his role as Dredd, god knows he was amazing in it!

I really hope that they get it right – as even though I enjoy both Dredd movies so far neither have got it “spot on” yet – Dredd was better as an action movie, but the Stallone movie was closer to the world of the Judges, so I hope they can strike the balance correctly.
If Judge Dredd is done right it really could show that the characters are indeed a match to the best of DC/Marvel.
    If done right…..

    • The 2nd one was the best but was confined to one building. The world is so rich with characters and things happening. I hope they get it right too. As bad as most feel the first Dread movie is. For some reason the last time I watched it.. wasn’t too bad.

I actually always liked the first Dredd movie (I know it’s not perfect) but this could be due to growing up on Judge Dredd and being a massive fan of Stallone.
I have to admit when I first heard that Urban was going to be playing good ol’ Joe, and especially after the first couple of pics that were released, I was against it – but he nailed it. Hopefully he’ll get to reprise the role in either the tv show or other movies.
