“The Walking Dead” Season 8 Compared to Schwarzenegger/Stallone ’80s Action Movie

“Season 7 was the ramp-up and now this is the blastoff. The stuff that’s happening is insane!”

What can we expect from the upcoming eighth season of “The Walking Dead”? Well, one thing we’ve gathered from pretty much everyone who has spoken about it is that Season 8 will be the show’s most action-packed outing to date, with the battle between good and evil kicking into high gear… and leaving a whole lot of destruction in its wake.

Speaking with EW, star Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel) went so far as to compare Season 8 of “The Walking Dead” to a crazy ’80s action movie!

Gilliam told the site that Season 8 is “like a Schwarzenegger versus Stallone action thing from the ’80s. I think there are, like, 10 explosions an episode. Every time you turn around, somebody’s shooting something or blowing something up. There’s some serious action that I don’t think we’ve seen on television since The A-Team went off the air.”

Austin Amelio (Dwight) similarly noted that “It’s a fucking in-your-face action-packed IV of adrenaline. Season 7 was the ramp-up and now this is the blastoff. The stuff that’s happening is insane!

Season 8 premieres October 22.

“Last season, Rick Grimes and his group of survivors were confronted with their deadliest challenge yet. With the comfort of Alexandria, they let their guard down, only to be reminded how brutal the world they live in can be.

Feeling powerless under Negan’s rules and demands, Rick advocated the group play along. But seeing that Negan couldn’t be reasoned with, Rick began rallying together other communities affected by the Saviors. And with the support of the Hilltop and Kingdom, they finally have enough fire power to contest the Saviors.

This season, Rick brings “All Out War” to Negan and his forces. The Saviors are larger, better-equipped, and ruthless — but Rick and the unified communities are fighting for the promise of a brighter future. The battle lines are drawn as they launch into a kinetic, action-packed offensive.

Up until now, survival has been the focus of Rick and our group, but it’s not enough. They have to fight to take back their freedom so that they can live. So that they can rebuild. As with any battle, there will be losses. Casualties. But with Rick leading the Alexandrian forces, Maggie leading the Hilltop, and King Ezekiel leading the Kingdom — Negan and the Saviors’ grip on this world may finally be coming to an end.”

The Season 8 premiere will be the show’s landmark 100th episode.

So no more walking and talking half the season…sounds like a step forward.

    • zombie84_41

Thats what you think. I bet you they will be more walking and talking and useless filler like the last few seasons.

      • MulderIsBack

Perhaps they have taken notes from fans and applied it this season…sometimes not alwaya a good idea…fans are rarely happy.

        • zombie84_41

i just want less filler to be honest i dont mind the talk when there is at least some action then talk to break it up i dont need all gore all action lol

          • MulderIsBack

Its the show i love to hate. I think ive been complaining about the walking and talking since season 2. Still watching.

          • zombie84_41

LOL. Yeah I never had any so called interest for talking at all. I never will watch an ep of that garbage. But I still think season 5 is the greatest season it was very well written good amount of intense ep’s and some of the most fucked up deaths too.

Id like to hope its All Out War rather than All Out Bore amiright lads

    • GunsOfNavarone

I left that very comment on IGN, weird.

      • Jay Bennett

        Great minds think alike

        • GunsOfNavarone

          That they do.

    • zombie84_41

Likewise. This show has become quite the soap opera.

      • Jay Bennett

With bookend good episodes, I admit I really loved the season opener for season 7

        • zombie84_41

oh i truly loved the opening but the rest of the season couldnt hold a torch to it and thats why im upset

  • zombie84_41

Yeah I’ll see it when I believe it because all these people do is talk out of their ass. Oh yeah this season be so brutal, so intense, so awesome. You watch it and its fucking garbage. Shit writing, no gore, nothing intense, you get maybe 5 ep’s if you’re lucky of good gore and brutal and intense stuff. Only to be followed by complete worthless filler. So i pray to the all mighty zombie gods that this season will be amazing.

    • The chicken man

      So stop watching it. 🙂

  • The chicken man

Excited for this! And haters, stop watching or stfu.
    🙂

    • J Jett

and yet you went and “hated” on the Carrie 4K BR release article. you need to follow what you are preaching.

      • The chicken man

        Well shoot, I guess I’m a hypocrite.

I just have a soft spot for TWD.
        🙂

Everyone hating should do what I do, I’ve seen maybe a total of 30 episodes of the whole show. skipped some season completely, and mostly watched first, second and then maybe last 3 of the seasons I did watch. AND I GET THE STORY IN FULL, I hated the show back 3-4seasons ago, and now actually pretty excited. But again, will prob see 5-6 episodes of this total season.

    • Turboguard

If I saw an ep with something I didn’t understand I would google and know exactly what had happened in less that 3-4min.

  • ManFromAnotherPlace

after season one you can pretty much just watch the season premiere, mid season finale, and finale of every season — you’ll be all set.

    • J Jett

      absolutely 100% true! 🙂

    • Nunya

Agreed except for the return of the governor episodes in season 4. I loved that Arc. For some reason, I found him much more dangerous watching him go from nothing back to running a camp. The battle at the end of that was the one we should have gotten at the end of 3!

      • Evan3

The governor is literally the sole improvement the show made from the comics. And his time on the show is now, unfortunately, a distant memory. That was a pretty solid arc!

  • J Jett

which means the season premiere ep will be relatively action packed then the next 7 eps will be snooze-fest filler eps with a moderately interesting mid-season cliffhanger. then when it returns it will be all filler slow eps until the season finale.

    • Evan3

Whoah… are you the lead writer for the show? You NAILED the season arc.

      • J Jett

        🙂

  • C-3PO’s

    You had me at A-Team.

  • El_Fez

Yeah, but can we get a story that also moves forward? Something other than “We found a safe place! Oh no, the Safe Place has been taken away by bad people! I’m so tired of walking! Look, a Safe Place! Oh no, the Safe Place has been taken away by bad people! I’m so tired of walking! Look, a Safe Place. . . .”

  • Evan3

This is your last chance Walking Dead… LAST… CHANCE! No more “everyone loves Carol, but she hates everyone” shit. No more “Morgan’s denying his killer insting” shit. No more trash people (why is every departure from the comic but Darryl a total awful mess? And even he has sucked the last few years).

This show has bored me to tears for four seasons and shat on everything to love from the comic. They better actually rise to the occasion here and give us All Out War.

  • Mike Lawrence

I wish they’d just wrap this series and not ruin what was once a great show any further.

    • Mike Lawrence

Ngl, I’m kind of rooting for record low viewership so they get the picture. It’s over, people. You ruined it to the point that there’s just no going back any more.
