Check Out First Images from “The Walking Dead” Midseason Premiere

The series returns to AMC on Sunday, February 25 at 9/8c.

After December’s mid-season finale, we can pretty much guarantee that “The Walking Dead” is going to be making a devastating return next month. We saw at the end of the episode that Carl had been bitten by a zombie earlier in the season, but it won’t be until the second half of Season 8 that we really begin to feel the weight of his loss.

Carl, after all, isn’t yet dead. But his time is extremely limited.

When “The Walking Dead” returns in February, the war between Rick and Negan continues, and you can expect that Rick is no longer taking shit from anybody. Not that he’s been in much of a shit-taking mood for quite some time now, but the death of his son is sure to set Rick on a warpath the likes of which we’ve never seen before.

Via Entertainment Weekly, check out some preview images from the back half of Season 8. And be sure to head over to EW to see a handful more where these came from.

This may be a “no shit” comment to some, buy about a week ago I went back and started from the very beginning of the show. This is the first time I’ve done that since it started. Man I can’t believe how f**king good this show was in those first 3 seasons! *SPOILER ALERT (JUST IN CASE)* In just the first 23 episodes, not counting the 2nd half of ssn 3, ( ssn 1- 6 episodes, ssn 2- 13 episodes, & the first 4 of ssn 3 ) they kill off 9 ‘SURVIVOR’ stand out characters, not talking about enemies, (now that number varies based on the opinion of who some consider ‘stand out’) two of which happen in ONE episode! Two big ones I might add! My point is fast forward to now and they have nearly triple the characters running around and we’re lucky to see one of them go in a whole season. It’s a burning question in my mind of WTF happened? Now I’m not complaining cuz I love the show, but it just boggles my mind of how great the writing once was, the way they shook up the show with the uncertainty of what’s going to happen this week?! It’s something I would love to see come back.

season 1 of this show is IMO one of the greatest seasons of any show ever. i like the sections of season 2 and 3 you mention as well. i can’t even fathom the idea of watching it these days. i’m tempted to start watching FEAR again since Maggie Grace & Jenna Elfman & Kevin Zegers are starting it.

Yeah J I can’t tell you how many times I said out loud while watching the early seasons “see why can’t it be like this now?!”

  • Barry El Beardo

Maybe the second half of the season will take place over a day or two giving Carl a chance to die onscreen

    • scream4ever

A valid point, considering the first half of season 8 took place over the course of just one day. However, if that’s Maggie’s baby in that pic, they will do another major time jump at some point (although it could also be Grace from the Saviors.

      • Barry El Beardo

Was it just one day? FUCK! I knew it was compressed but didn’t actually sink in as one day haha

    The walking dread

      No the boring dead

For the record, Chandler Riggs was fired from the show. His father was the problem. His dad makes money taking fans on guided tours of filming locations. He doesn’t really respect the locals or their space, not to mention safety concerns and he started all kinds of shit with them. The producers finally decided to get rid of Chandler and all the headaches his father caused them. TWD still sucks regardless.

      Where did you hear this?

      • The Night King

Here, and I know it’s a gossip site. but they are pretty much always correct in their stories. They only give the real names when the story breaks in the news.- http://blindgossip.com/?p=80518#more-80518

Ah ok. I guessed it was his father asking for money. Wonder if the producers told him to can it beforehand.

    • Hank_Scorpio

Wow, what a dick the father is……

    • J Jett

yeah, i remember reading several reports on how much of a dickbag his dad was.
now his dad is saying that Chandler left the show ONLY because he wants to go to college.

I know I’m in the minority but I’m excited for Carl’s exit.

Like most fans of the show I’ve been watching from the very beginning and actually enjoyed it all the way through until the very last episode of season 6 when they decided to do a cliffhanger. Now I don’t mind cliffhangers and understand the magnitude of the scene but that’s when I really started to become angry with AMC because they took the fans for granted and thought they could get away with leaving us hanging for 7 months. I can’t recall ever being that pissed at a t.v. show ending that way especially with all the build up before hand with cast and crew saying how brutal and heartbreaking it was and then not even show it. Season 7 was hard to watch just because of all the filler episodes and single character storylines they were doing which I wouldn’t mind if they were at least good but in reality it just didn’t work. I’m normally an apologist for the show but it’s hard to defend when it just hasn’t been consistently good for a very long while. I will watch till the end but I don’t have much faith in the writing anymore.
