Ex Machina director Alex Garland just returned to the sci-fi space with second feature Annihilation, and he’s already in development on a new television series.
Deadline reports that FX has given a pilot order to Garland’s “Devs,“ an episode that Garland himself wrote and will be directing. He will also executive produce.
“In Devs, which will be produced by FX Productions, a young computer engineer, Lily, investigates the secretive development division of her employer, a cutting-edge tech company based in San Francisco, which she believes is behind the disappearance of her boyfriend.”
Garland recently revealed that the 8 episodes he has written tell a complete story.
“If they (FX) want to carry it on, I guess they could… it’s a self-contained story though,” Garland said. “There’s ways you could carry it on. Hopefully shooting in about six months. I’ve started talking about casting, locations, practical stuff like that.”
DNA TV and Scott Rudin Productions will also exec produce.
