If you grew up in the ’80s, there’s a good chance you remember “Night Flight,” an online visual-arts magazine and variety television show that ran on the USA Network from 1981 through 1988 before moving into syndication in the ’90s. Essentially, “Night Flight” played host to a programming block of wacky, outside the box content, including films both short and feature length, music videos, and recurring segments such as “New Wave Theatre,” “Heavy Metal Heroes” and “The Some Bizarre Show.”

Horror films that aired on “Night Flight” throughout the ’80s included Night of the Living Dead, Dementia 13, The Invisible Ghost and The Terror.

A few years back, “Night Flight” returned as a streaming channel, and we’ve learned this week that IFC is now bringing it back proper for a revival season!

The IFC revival will premiere on Friday, April 20, with 18 episodes airing this year.

“This spring, the IFC cable network is reviving “Night Flight” as a short-form program, showcasing the most memorable moments from the original Night Flight library, including iconic interviews and performances from ’80s-era all-stars.

Premiering Friday, April 20th at 1am east coast/10pm west coast (Friday night/Saturday morning), each 15-minute episode of “Night Flight” on IFC will bring back classic guest stars such as Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie, KISS, the Sex Pistols and even Gumby.”

To honor the return, IFC is hosting a 90-minute screening event on Thursday, April 19 at 7pm (EST) at Brooklyn’s Alamo Drafthouse (445 Albee Square W #4, Brooklyn, NY 11201), where they’ll be showing a collection of the show’s best moments followed by a Q&A with original “Night Flight” Creator and Producer Stuart S. Shapiro.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
