Keep Your Eyes Peeled for ‘Creepshow’ Easter Eggs in the Shudder Series, Says Greg Nicotero

Creepshow Father's Day

Out of Comic-Con this past weekend, Shudder debuted the first trailer for their new series “Creepshow,” while also announcing that the series will premiere on September 26th.

The creative architect of the series is makeup master Greg Nicotero, whose career comes full circle with the small screen continuation of George Romero and Stephen King’s classic horror anthology. Nicotero, after all, was a makeup effects artist on Creepshow 2, and he got his start working with two of the 1982 movie’s horror powerhouses: Romero and Tom Savini.

At the “Creepshow” panel during San Diego Comic-Con, Nicotero told fans of the 1982 film to keep their eyes peeled while watching, as there are many Easter eggs to be found!

Gizmodo reported from the event, “Nicotero also told the crowd to look out for Easter eggs from the 1982 movie sprinkled throughout the show, including references tucked into that sinister dollhouse shown in the trailer and an ashtray prop that will pop up in every episode.”

In 1982’s Creepshow, you may have noticed, George Romero placed the same ashtray into every single segment, and it sounds like Nicotero is paying tribute to that little gag.

The six-episode first season of “Creepshow” will feature twelve total segments.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
