‘Jason Lives’ Jason Stalks “Friday the 13th” Gameplay Footage!

Now in beta for those who helped crowd-source the game, Gun Media has shared the first look at “Friday the 13th: The Game” gameplay footage featuring Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) from Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives!

Gun Media and developer Illfonic’s “Friday the 13th: The Game”, initially announced as “Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp”, was funded through Kickstarter back in 2015 and was set for release this month. Lucky for those who took part in the campaign at they’ll have early access to beta before the year’s end that will include a code for keys to make it sharable with 4 additional friends.

In addition, according to IGN, the game’s full multiplayer component will become available in early 2017 and include Tommy Jarvis as a playable character. Movie setting Packanack Lodge will also be included in this release as a third playable map. This initial release will be followed by the full Summer 2017 release of the single-player component, including AI Bots.

Players who pre-order the game in digital or physical form will receive the single player component at no additional charge, adds the site.

    • shawn lawson

Yea but kane is the actor for the game. Hes playing all the versions

      • Kevin Thomas

Ah. I was not aware. Glad to hear that the best Jason gets to play all of the iterations of the character. It would be cool if they eventually had some DLC that would lead to Jason X or Freddy vs. Jason.

        • Flu-Like Symptoms

Haha, best believe if the FvsJ version of Jason is ever included, Kane will NOT be getting replaced by Ken Kirzinger.

        • The Drucifer

Jason x was a stretch goal we didn’t make so I’m thinking he and the Grendel map will Ben dlc. I think fvj and remake are off the table due to rights

  • Gray Games

So you pay for single player . What the hell. That gameplay is not intriguing

    • Weresmurf

Struggling to see your point about single player…

      • The Drucifer

        there isn’t one

    • Munchie

Yeah, I don’t get this either. So if there was no online, you think the game should just be free?

    • Mike

Yeah I will probably just wait and pick it digitally once the single player has been added.

  • RKSDooM

Goddamn this game looks like so much fun!

  • John W

I’m hopefully optimistic that there’s more to the game play than what’s been shown so far.

  • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

I actually backed this on kickstarter but damn…it’s looking rough. Beta was awful too. Starting to lose faith

    • Flu-Like Symptoms

It isn’t an AAA project. Small, independent company creating a labor of love. I was in the beta and can easily confirm it was 1000 times more fun than the NES game, which is the only other real option Friday fans have had for nearly 30 years. Bugs fixed, this will be a solid win.

I’m…confused? Is Jason teleporting? Or does he have super speed now? Or are we moving throught time? What the hell did I just watch?

    • Madstand

Yes Jason can teleport in the game. The “VHS fast forward effect” is a short range version of it. Jason teleporting sounds goofy as hell on paper but looks like it works really well from a gameplay point of view.

  • Madstand

Interesting that they gave Jason 6 the throwing knife from the movie. I would love to see Jason 7 get the spike he used in his movie. Throw it at a person, and if it hits drop them to a slow crawl. Slower than his move speed. Would make Jason 7 a lot more formidable on land.

idk, that game play didn’t look very fun at all. Quite boring actually..

  • The game looks boring, I was expecting something better.

  • Munchie

I think it’s funny to make drastic assumptions based on two to three minute snippets of a game. I think it looks awesome.

“Players who pre-order the game in digital or physical form will receive the single player component at no additional charge, adds the site.”

um, what? they’re trying to make people pay extra for a single player campaign if they don’t preorder? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/dd1f04bdcff00f9a55af39652414c906739d3aa564ac69ee48f2f1064b335fdb.jpg

Incorrect. The game was originally priced 30 dollars but it was Multiplayer only. If you had preordered it for 30 dollars, then you’ll get the Multiplayer componet for 30 bucks then Singleplayer later on at no additional charge.

      • SpacemanSpliffz

i didn’t make a statement, so your “incorrect” is in itself, incorrect. i asked a question, which you did answer and i thank you for said answer 🙂

      • Mike

So the pre order price is now 40 dollars for digital. Does that include the single player?

        • The Drucifer

          Yup

          • Mike

            Thanks

  • Charlie

So…. can the campers actually do anything to stump Jason? Or do you just run around the woods unable to lay traps or do anything?

    • Trisha Tachanawa

There are traps they can make, and ways to trick Jason like turning on a radio to make him think someone is around.

  • Alex

Will u be able to drive the car In the game so we can run over Jason or get away from him?
Also have any of you pre ordered the game yet? If I pre order will they go ahead and collect the money or will they wait until release day to collect payment? I know amazon waits but being that its only for sale on their website im not too sure

    • The Drucifer

The preorders should be grabbed fairly soon after you place it. They tend to do it in bulk. You can drive and I’ve heard hilarious things about ppl trying to run Jason over

  • The Drucifer

Hopefully glad that I kickstarted this…didn’t get to play the beta but heard it was fun. The team has been incredibly awesome with responding to questions and being fairly transparent. I’m super pumped for this and what may come after…

  • Derry

this game has been looking great so far!

  • Chris Genth

    I can’t wait, so excited!!!!!!
