This ‘Godzilla’ Trailer Gave Me Goosebumps!

Godzilla
It’s been forever since a trailer felt this large!

Legendary and Warner Bros. just dropped a proverbial bomb Monday morning in yet another Godzilla trailer. While I’m worn out with all of the images, spots and trailers, they have somehow found a way to reinvigorate me. I’m sitting here with a full sheet of goosebumps jonesing for May 16 to arrive.

Watch as Godzilla’s nemesis is unearthed. Watch as another swoops into battle. Watch as the Lizard King stomps to the rescue.

I can’t even begin to wrap my head around what the arc is, or how the story will be told – other than through the eyes of windower Bryan Cranston – but what I do know is that Gareth Edwards appears to have directed the living shit out of the monstrous summer blockbuster.

    I just came.

      Me too bro….me too. ;_;

  • mistermysterious

It blew me away… i think it is more like a mystery on the beginning and a monster look at the middle and a hero at the end..

  • Evan3

While I’m 100% sold on this movie, I haven’t been as impressed with the non-Godzilla monster-designs. Still, looking forward to Godzilla laying down the smackdown.

    Mothra?!!

    • AlanMorlock

Nope, the enemies are two new monsters called the MUTOS.

      • pacman68

Why wouldn’t they put Rodan in it?

        • DrForrester

          Sequel bait

        • Full Frontal Squashing

Like I stated above, they do not have the rights to the other monsters yet. It is coming….

          • AlanMorlock

Its also a matter that they don’t have to share the merch rights for new creations.

        • AlanMorlock

          Why not Zoidberg?

  • pacman68

It’s gotta be Rodan. If it’s not Rodan. I’ll be pissed. Not digging the other monster though. Looks too much like Cloverfield and Pacific Rim.

    • DrForrester

Unfortunately it’s not Rodan. Definitely takes some visual cues from him though

      • Kieth Forsaken Wheeler

That’s kinda what I was thinking it looks like a mix of Rodan and mothra,The other one with the bug leg…It looked like Orga for a moment…I have a feeling “they’re” trying to “revive” the series with new monsters while the old die in the dust

        • Full Frontal Squashing

They do no have the rights to the other monsters….yet! They are in discussions with Toho to try and revive some of the classic foes from the past.

        • DrForrester

Unfortunately I don’t think Legendary had the rights to other Toho monsters. However, if this movie does well enough to get a sequel greenlit, expect Toho to give Legendary the rights to more monsters.

          • Kieth Forsaken Wheeler

saw the movie, wasn’t bad actually the monsters were kinda cheesey but not bad

  • ThunderDragoon

Total fangasm! Holy crap, I can’t be any more excited for this.

  • http://doomas10 doomas10

This looks incredible. Credit to the marketing department!

  • woodchuck

“Let them fight.” I literally got goosebumps

  • Full Frontal Squashing

It keeps getting better and better and better…………….

  • John Larson

This newest trailer was indeed awesome. But, I’m getting a little nervous. STILL NO ATOMIC FIRE BREATH !!

    • Patrick Cremeans

The director confirmed he has it in the film, as did screencaps from the mobile game based on the film. they’re not going to show it in trailers.

      • John Larson

Thank you, Patrick! Now that is icing on the cake…

  • Alex Manresa

I couldn’t agree more. This trailer just looks so freaking amazing. This movie is going to be EPIC!

  • Ellen Elizabeth Cormier

omg! I cannot wait! screeches excitedly

  • J Jett

i think i’m most excited to see the 2 versions of the MUTO creatures. i guess the males have wings/fly and females don’t. but yeah, can’t wait for this!

To hell with Spider-Man 2. May 16th NEEDS to get here fast. I can’t take this anymore. lol.

    • Ress EZ

Zombie-Killa, YOUR COMMENT IS SOOO TRUEEE!!!! 2014 is a Godzilla year! Forget Transformers!!!

      • http://mitchmacready.blogspot.com/ Zombie-Killa

Ha! Yes. Godzilla is #1. To hell with everything else, especially Transformers. lol.

        • Ress EZ

Transformers deserve a BIG WHIP of Godzilla’s tail!

          • http://mitchmacready.blogspot.com/ Zombie-Killa

True! Pretty sure Godzilla would tear Optimus Prime apart in 5 minutes. Maybe 2. lol.

          • Ress EZ

LOL! Oh, you’re sooo cruel! Since you put it that way, I just imagine how long can Megatron stand Godzilla . I give him 2 1/2 minutes.

  • Ress EZ

Just wonder what the Japanese people think about it.

    • VictorCrowley

I’m sure they (much like a lot of us) are approaching it with a raised brow over a cautious eye. ’98 pretty much neutered the notion that Hollywood USA could make a better Godzilla film than the Japanese. Yet here we are, back with all our computer graphics, armed and ready to try it again. Looks to be heading in the right direction this time, but after ’98, this film better hit and hit hard to wash away that abomination, especially in their eyes.

      • Ress EZ

I’m optimistic this year’s Godzilla will please the Japanese audiences although I’m being cautious with my words. I could be wrong. Maybe the only complaint might be that it’s not man-in-rubber like they used to. LOL! Just kidding. Indeed Hollywood has a mountain to climb. They can do no wrong for the second time, can they?

        • VictorCrowley

The man-in-suit style can be done effectively. I always thought The Return of Godzilla (Godzilla 1985) accomplished it well. The problem with a lot of the more recent movies is that there’s too much light. It’s painfully obvious it’s a guy in a suit. With 1985, I don’t think we ever see Godzilla during the day once, which really works. The movie is dark with a lot of low camera angles and establishes that scary, natural disaster-type atmosphere not seen since the original. Once in a great while your eye catches a glimpse of a suit, but it’s still easier for me to suspend disbelief with that versus seeing a ton of computer-rendered pixels and feeling like I’m watching a video game.

Still, I think the new one has a lot of potential. I just can’t fathom it could possibly be anywhere in the ballpark of ’98. Even if it ends up sucking, no way it sucks as bad as that.

          • Ress EZ

Come to think of it, I think Hollywood should apply the same filmmaking technique as the Japanese did like man-in-suits, miniatures, etc. with green screen at the back than relying completely on CGI. What scares me the most if Godzilla doesn’t look scary and intimidating enough because chances are it could look cartoony and weightless. Pacific Rim is a perfect example of slow-moving, heavy and scary monsters although at the same time I feel the movie sometimes is like an expensive video game, which I don’t want that to happen to Godzilla.
Yeah, I agree with you and amen to that! It’s killing me if the only good thing about Godzilla is the trailer. But the new clip tells otherwise. I’m very optimistic even more now.
By the way, Godzilla opens here on May 15! So good to get to watch it first than you guys! HA!

          • VictorCrowley

I could get on board with that approach, definitely.

What part of the world are you in, my friend?

          • Ress EZ

I’m definitely down with that approach! But of course it’s all CGI nowadays.
My dear horror-aholics, I’m in Malaysia. Mr. Obama recently visited us. For some reason, now Hollywood tend to release its movies earlier here in Asia. Well, it’s really just a few hours early than the States. And I don’t think I can make it opening day.

          • VictorCrowley

That’s awesome, Dude. I hope you enjoy the film, whenever you get to see it. I’m hoping to make it out opening day, early afternoon before everyone gets out of work/school.

          • Ress EZ

I will. I definitely will. No review can stop me from praising it. And it seems that Bloody Disgusting has come out with a negative review. No, sir. That doesn’t do anything to me.
Be there opening day, brother. You’re a big fan of Godzilla so it’s natural for you to be at the theater before anybody else. I’ll go on Saturday with my twins. So pumped up! My only wish is the American audience will go out in BIG numbers. I’m dying for a HUGE opening for BIG G!

I would like to think that Cranston wouldn’t sign on to a turd. I’ve read many people have gone up to Gareth Edwards and said to him, “Don’t f*ck this up.” Actually, if he does, he’s doomed as a director with as much money this cost. As for this Oakland kid, I’ll watch it because he destroys SF. That alone is worth the price of admission.
