FOX has released the first full trailer for the Matt Reeves-directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which goes right for the heart.
In the sequel, “A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”
The trailer really pushes in on the newly established “Apes” civilization, and how they live in peace with each other (they apparently have their own Ten Commandments). That is, until they’re threatened. The movie rips off its beats from many, many classic stories before it, most notably the Academy Award winning Dances with Wolves and the more recent Avatar. Still, it looks beyond fantastic.
In theaters July 11, the pic stars Andy Serkis, Toby Kebbell, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kirk Acevedo, and Enrique Murciano.
All hail Caesar!
