Tomorrow sees the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the latest entry into the long-running horror-tinged FPS series that began back in 1992 with Wolfenstein 3D. And with this upcoming release, Bethesda, who published the new game, have released a free download of “Herr Faust”, a track from the game that was composed by Fredrik Thordendal, the guitarist of Meshuggah, through their blog.
When asked what appealed to him about the idea of writing a song for a video game, Thordendal responded:
Writing music for a movie or video game has always been on my “want to do list” so when Jens Matthies of MachineGames asked if I was interested — the word yes came to mind.
You can download the song for free here, which you can hear below as well as get a chance to check out the ‘Boom Boom’ trailer.
