Crazy ‘Final Girl’ Trailer Brings the Axe Down Hard!

Final Girl Abigail Breslin

Thanks to Bloody reader Fabien M. we have a brand new trailer for Photographer Tyler Shields’ Final Girl. The movie looks absolutely bonkers when four young men’s game of cat and mouse turn on them. Abigail Breslin looks to have a bit of “Hit Girl” going on as she gets mediaeval on these sly foxes.

Abigail Breslin, Alexander Ludwig, Wes Bentley, Logan Huffman, Michael Trevino, Connor Paolo, Francesca Eastwood and Michael Trevino all star.

Loner Veronica is new to school, shy and vulnerable the perfect target for a group of teenage boys who lure girls into the woods to hunt and kill them for sport. It’s only after they get her alone that she turns the tables on them, escaping and revealing she’s armed and knows how to defend herself. Little do they know, Veronica is an assassin-in-training, and she’s chosen killing these boys as her final test. When the dust clears, Veronica will find out if she can be the final girl these boys ever have a chance to hurt.

I’m on the fence. Started out solid but I wasn’t sure by the end.

The direction, lighting and cinematography is weird. I’m in.

Interesting premise, I’m a little torn by its style and tone though. I know this is only the trailer, but I was taken out of the realm of believability (no matter how outlandish a teenage assassin in training might be) the story wants to portray; I see it as an over stylized horror/comedy at this point. I just hope it’s clever enough to pull-off its David Lynch approach.

It looks interesting. Curious to see if it’s good.

Title is a blatant ripoff from Hack & Slash.

    • Jonathan Forbing

Are you talking about the comic book series “HackSlash”? Because, if so, I don’t really know where you’re coming from. The concept of a girl turning the tables on the slasher(s) trying to kill her is not original to that comic by any stretch of the imagination. It also looks like the way they’re doing that particular concept is nowhere near the way it’s done in “HackSlash”. This is as much a “ripoff” of that as it is of “Hard Candy”, which is to say “not at all”.

      • Werewolf

I said title not concept. Cassie Hack was the “final girl”. Anyway, the term was actually first coined in a book from 1992 by Carol J. Clover called “Men, Women, and Chainsaws”.

        • Jonathan Forbing

Ah, got it. I was wondering if that was what you meant when you said “title”, as some people use that term to refer to the product itself (book, movie, video game, etc.). Cheerfully withdrawn.

          • Werewolf

Hey, no problem. You were right in what you were saying.
People who do things like what you were addressing piss me off too.

It looks interesting but it almost looks like a made for tv movie.

Any idea when it’s coming out? BD articles never seem to have release dates

  • REC03

i wish someone would take a similar premise but use a more serious tone. also i watched some stupid reality show with Tyler Shields and he has to be one the biggest douche’s on the planet.

    • Jonathan Forbing

Well then it should be awesome to watch him get murdered, right?

  • Jonathan Forbing

It’s crazy how much Abigail Breslin looks like Kirsten Dunst in that first image (the main article image of her holding the axe). She doesn’t look anything like her in any of the other pics or the video, but when I saw the article image I was like “Kirsten Dunst is doing another horror flick?”

  • marklola12 .

all im going to say is hmmmmm wes bentley haha

I’m definitely intrigued. Glad to see Abigail Breslin is moving into thrillers now that she’s getting older (after last year’s “The Call”).

    Looks pretty good. Love her.
