The third and final Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer was just launched, and I sort of wish I hadn’t watched it. It’s really spoiler heavy, but I’ll be damned if it wasn’t powerful. There’s a lot of great stuff in there – emotional stuff – that shows Caesar’s love for the humans, and how even that couldn’t stop them from going to war. You can only assume what comes next, which is a tearjerker moment where Caesar must choose sides. For a movie loaded with CG apes, it’s seriously mind blowing how realistic and moving Dawn looks.
In the sequel to the prequel, “A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”
In theaters July 11, Matt Reeves directs with Andy Serkis, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Judy Greer and Jocko Sims starring.
